39 degrees here in Coastal SC, had our first fire in the fireplace this year last night.
Ground hog story. My friend and I did a camping/fishing trip years ago in CO. We were driving down this mountain road and came upon a ground hog that had been hit by a car. My friend jumped out of the van and finished it off with a hatchet. We were going to eat it for supper, cook book said soak in salt water 12 hrs before cooking. Cut it up and fried it in a cast iron pan. Well it was so tough we could not eat it. Gave it to Daisy(black lab) she chewed on it for a while and gave up. My first and last experience with ground hog. Raccoon is much better.

I lived in the mountains (Vermont) for close to 62 years. So the besting of me is very welcome and part of the very reasons I don't live in the mountains. I am truly a flatlander now.

I have to dig out my "Move to NC" contract because I'm pretty sure it didn't say anything about any temperatures in the 30's. ;) :)
We just broke a record from 1976 for our low this morning. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, you would have to pay taxes here. You have to pay taxes based on the weight of the vehicle, and you pay those taxes whether the car runs or not. It wouldn't matter where the plates are from. I think. I'm not positive, because we don't get our cars in Germany, so I've never looked into that.
By weight? We usually pay by retail cost here and car type. Interesting.

You have to pay taxes just for owning a vehicle there?

Here you just pay whatever taxes are on your insurance and then you have to get your registration renewed every few years.
