@MinnieM123 the MBTA is having a tough couple of weeks. One of the orange line trains caught on fire today.

Thankfully there were no injuries, considering there were over 200 passengers -- some were evacuated via train crew, and others busted out windows and jumped down to the tracks. (And there was one woman who freaked, and jumped off the train bridge into the river below. She was rescued by fire department, and was o.k.)

At least the T's power station cut the current to the third rail, within 2 minutes of them stopping the train. (Those who jumped out the windows on their own, could have fared a worse outcome, if that 3rd rail was still "live". )

Happy to say that despite my many years of riding the Orange Line, I never experienced a fire. (However, years ago, as a consolation prize, I was on one of the T's highway express buses into Boston -- and the A/C unit in the back of the bus caught fire. Driver didn't realize until cars & trucks were honking their horns (highway had 4 lanes, packed during rush hours). Then the smoke started pouring out the back. He drove over to the side of the road, and we all had to get out. Fire trucks came, and the T sent another bus eventually, and we got on that one into the city. That was different. :p

Look carefully at your bill when dining out. At FL Macaroni Grill locations a $2 " inflation fee" is now added to the bill.

Per person, or per bill…?
If it’s per bill, I’m actually surprised it’s not more, and that’s definitely less expensive than having all the menus (assuming they’re still using hard copy menus…?) reprinted every time they need to raise prices.
Several longtime local restaurant owners have been interviewed on the radio the last several months…inflation is killing them.
A guy that owns one of our local bbq places said months ago that his cost for brisket alone had gone up over 50%. He was spending much of his time explaining to customers why he had to raise prices. Not only have his food/supply costs gone sky high, but, staff wants much higher pay, as well.
There’s no way he can absorb all those costs and stay in business without raising prices.
They’ve been in the bbq business for over 47 years here in Austin, and have an excellent reputation food-wise and otherwise.
It’s just a sick, sad mess for the vast majority of folks.

I saw a news report last night , about how the power grid peeps in your state are asking customers to try and conserve energy. When the temps are so high, it puts a huge strain on the system. Hope your temps lower very soon for you all.

So far, through all this heat, we’ve had no blackouts, rolling or otherwise.
But, yes, if something doesn’t need to be on, turn it off…common sense.
I can only imagine the electrical grid chaos if we all had our $60,000+ electric cars to plug in overnight…that sure wouldn’t put a strain on the power grid at all, would it…???!!!!! 🤪:hilarious:😜🤪🤣
