Well it doesn't LOOK like strep... No white streaks/patches. I had strep tons of times when I was a kid. And I kept her home for the first two days, then she had a week off school anyway. Then is started getting better, so I thought it was fine. She's got test week next week, which I know isn't a "thing" in the states, but she couldn't afford to miss class if she didn't have to, and she'd already missed a lot because she was exposed to Covid and had to be in quarantine even though she never got it. Right now, teachers aren't doing the remote learning for kids who are home. Those two days I kept her home, she was supposed to follow along, but only ONE teacher opened a meeting so she could. She's got major tests that count for like 70% of her grades for the next week and a half and she can't miss all the instruction before those tests. If they don't want kids coming to school sick, they need to make it easier for them to stay home. And, I haven't actually ever heard of a strep outbreak here. I got it almost every year in the US, but I've never known it to be a thing here... It's more just me thinking out loud what it COULD be that it wouldn't go away after two weeks. But the doctor gave her a powder to gargle with, not an antibiotic, so apparently he doesn't think it sounds like strep.Isn’t strep contagious…?
Why would you let her go to school without knowing for sure…?!
E still has a sore throat! It's been like 2 weeks. She's taken self tests and they've all been negative, so it's not covid....I’m wondering if it’s strep. She's not sure she whether she wants to stay home from school tomorrow or not. If she stays home, I'll take her to the doctor. If she goes, I'll wait until Friday afternoon because she's out early and won't have to miss school to go.
Well, yeah, that was the only thing I could think of that wouldn't go away on its own, but then, I'm not a doctor. Yes, strep is contageous...but I didn't even think of strep until Wednesday when we decided to take her to the doctor, after she had already been to school...it was kind of too late then to keep her home. She ended up going to school with covid, but we had no idea it was covid because she had had negative selftests every time she did them over a week and a half....we had no way of knowing the sore throat had changed from one thing to another. It happens. Do I feel bad, of course, but I didn't have all the information either, and I'm just doing the best I can with what I have.My reply was based purely on your own previous post.
Apparently, you now have different info.
And, strep is indeed contagious.
