Yep it’s like that out there.

Yep, we pretty much knew where the dead spots would be, as Sarah researched it, because, well, that’s the kinda’ stuff Sarah does…!!!!! :hilarious::happy:
It just feels kinda’ odd when you’re lookin’ at a Google map, playin’ around on WDWMagic, etc., and all of a sudden everything freezes, and you see no bars.
Has never happened on any of our Texas road trips, even way out in the boonies… 🤷‍♂️

I never really had a bucket list. I did have a bucket item. I wanted to personally see and be part of in some form The Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia. I always remembered watching it on TV in April when there was still a very good chance that in Vermont snow was still on the ground and was still susceptible to more snow. It always looked so perfect there, flowers, bright green grass and so on.

A couple of years after I moved here to NC, I had a part time job driving a shuttle bus for the October SAS Champions Tour tournament in Cary, NC. In the process I found out that the company that SAS or PGA, don't know which, had hired to operate the transportation set-up for the tournament. I also managed to spend a few minutes chatting with one of the organizing companies managers and I found out that they were also the company that The Masters management used to do the transportation for The Masters. So I got bold and said to the guy, "let me know if you need some help at that one since I am retired and free to go at a moments notice and would love to get there" He gave me his business card and told me to call him in March of the next year and he would see if they had a place for me.

Wow, I don't think a day went by that entire winter that I didn't think about that possibility. Come March, I called him and to my surprise he said he did have a place for me and told me when, where and to whom I should report as soon as I got there. I left here close to 4 days before the start of the 2014 tournament. I still didn't know what the were planning for me to do, driving or maybe even standing in the parking lots directing traffic and I thought it was completely a voluntary position. When I got there I found out that they were paying for my hotel for the duration, plus a generous hourly wage, plus a food allowance that covered my meal expenses. I worked from 11am to 11pm as a dispatcher directing when and where to send the shuttle buses. I had a special ID badge that allowed me access to every building on site and the freedom to move about. Of course, it was a long, tiring day but man I saw so many big name golfers, like Bubba Watson (the winner) and even was almost accidentally run over by Arnold Palmer in his golf cart. It was a lot of work but enabled me to a not only be able to fill my bucket item, but get paid generously to do so.

You’ve shared this before, but, not in this much detail, so it makes it even more cool…!!! 🙂
To clarify, I don’t really even have a bucket list, and didn’t even know what one was until that movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman came out…!!!!! :hilarious:

The closest to that type of golf experience I can come to is bein’ at the Legends of Golf pro-am here in Austin in 1986 (which I’ve posted about before).
Funny thing is, we almost got run over by Sam Snead’s golf cart…don’t know if he was late to tee off at whatever hole, or what, but, he sure was a crotchety ol’ bu**er yellin’ at everyone to “Get outta’ the way…!!!”…!!!!! :hilarious:
We also saw Earl Campbell, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, and many others. It made for a really fun day…!!! :)
That’s also where I got the pic below (that I’ve posted before) with famous actor at the time (the voice of Mr. Incredible to y’all younger folk ;)) Craig T. Nelson…!!! :)

I love how even the library has a "x files" thematic with the "cold case" boxes.

Yes, as hokey as much if it may seem, much of it was also pretty darn well organized, well done, and professional looking.
Although “Research Center” is in the full name of the museum, I did not expect to see the extensive, publicly accessible archive.
All I know is, it was just a very fun place to visit…!!! :)

I remember you posting that as well. Mine wasn't the last encouter with golfing big shots (pun intended) Until last year I went to the Champions tour at SAS in Cary every year since 2011. I met and chatted with a number of them. the most fun was with Rocco Mediate where I had the opportunity to tell him that as far as I was concerned he won that US open. He just laughed while turning the sound up on his boom box that he had attached to his cart. He said, that's what everyone says yet the trophy isn't in my trophy case.

When I was still driving those shuttles for SAS, I sort of got back at golfers when Bernhard Langer cut in front of my moving bus headed toward the fitness center. Kind of ironic, I thought since I had to slam on the brake to avoid hitting him. I also spoke with Tom Kite, Fred Couples, and Mark Calcavecchia as well as others. I always marvel at how the pro's hit a golf ball. They are my superstars.

Again, very cool…!!! :)
The extent of my previous post is all I got golf-wise…!!! ;)
My Pop and my 2 younger bros are bigger golf fans than I am, but, I recognize every name you posted, especially Tom Kite, who is a Texan and an Austinite…!!! :)
The few times I’ve played golf, l loved it, even though I mostly sucked…!!!!! :hilarious:
OK, again, let me clarify…
I could pretty much drive a golf ball a long way, and pretty straight, and putt decently…it was always, for lack of a better term, the middle game that killed me…irons and myself just never got along…!!!!! :hilarious:
