Hail damage was the reason I nicknamed my ‘96 Hyundai Accent “Lilly Dimples”…!!!!! :hilarious:
I'm not sure why but that reminded me of the time that my "new" 2016 Passat was backed into and hit on the front corner of the plastic bumper. It was a huge dent. I headed to a body shop to get an estimate and when I got there it was gone. It was a huge dimple and it fixed itself.

That also reminded me that perhaps there is a way to judge whether or not people in your area are good drivers or not. Before I moved to NC I had many cars over the 43 years I owned a car and lived in Vermont. No one ever ran into my car and suffered very few parking lot door bumps. Since I moved here my Cadillac had the front end damaged to the tune of $4K, than my 2016 Passat was backed into but healed itself, how I don't know. Then my 2019 bright red Jetta was hit in the front right corner at the tune of $1.8K and one year later the drivers door and front fender was damage by an unknown individual, hit and run. Another $3k in damage. Each time they were legally parked, in clear view and I was not in the car. I witnessed the first two which happened while I was walking toward them. The last two happened in parking garages and only one had the decency to leave a note. The cost of the last one had to be paid for by my insurance and my deductible. You do the math! 43 years vs. 10 years.

I admit it is pretty....but I have to clear that snow later today and my family of three has to take turns driving 2 vehicles back to our daughter's college in Lynchburg VA tomorrow. Yes I understand it will not snow tomorrow, but this is not what we were hoping for.
Tomorrow's high is only 32F . My All Wheel Drive SUV will be fine but my wife is concerned about our daughter's VW Beetle. Will the roads still be icy tomorrow? They should be totally taken care of by then I said. Yet, she is still concerned.
My (guess) is that the roads (definitely highways and well-traveled secondary routes) will be in good shape tomorrow. Perhaps start out after 9 AM. As for today, if there are three of you at home, you can probably knock out the snow from house and driveway in a few hours. Here, it's the two of us, and that's about how long it usually takes us. It's not a sprint (so to speak), to shovel all the snow, but more of a marathon. ;)

What @MinnieM123 said. The roads should be fine by midmorning tomorrow. Which way are you going?

Here snow days are now held online. No more extended school years
That's interesting. I noticed (on last night's news) that the Boston schools are closed for the snowstorm (as are just about every city and town in the state today). But, it is a regular "snow" day, not a school day (as in, remote). You see, the school districts in the state estimate the number of snow days in a school year, and add those into the calendar. If they don't use them all, then the school year gets shortened by number of snow days not used. (Goes in the opposite direction, if they use more snow days than expected.)

Suggestion (not knowing all the details), but if the car isn't an absolute necessity take her home in the SUV and after a few days of road clearing do the two driver deal and bring it to her. However, unless there is an active storm just driving carefully should be alright for the VW.

We still have built in days but many say snow day/remote learning on the news scroll

My wife and I are both still in the workforce and it would be a bit inconvenient schedule wise to drive 7 hours each way from Brick NJ to Lynchburg VA 2 consecutive weekends. Also that would be yet another hotel cost and paying for more food on the road. So....It would be very helpful if we could get all done this weekend.
I'm going back to bed. I need to rest up for shoveling and the big weekend.

Absolutely, and everyone has to learn how to drive in inclement weather anyway, it was just a suggestion to help alleviate anxiety.

My father taught me when I was in high school, when I drove in inclement weather back in the day especially going down hilly terrain is to shift the auto trans to second or first gear so the car can slow down more effectively. If I had to drive in those conditions now, I have a FWD V6 six speed manual currently so I can just use the stick shift to downshift to a lower gear
