@Mr Ferret 88 , is everything closed down on your island today? (Mostly everything closed down in my area for the holiday -- just wondering if that's the same overseas.)
It's so quiet outside, that it seems like it's a Sunday, but it's only Saturday -- this is strange!

Well that's clever -- nice how they conveniently snuck that one in, to give people more vacation!
New year's Day is always a bank holiday. So when it falls on a Saturday or Sunday they make the following Monday the bank holiday as banks don't open weekends.Well that's clever -- nice how they conveniently snuck that one in, to give people more vacation!

Congrats to your dad.I know I’ve posted this before, but, back in the mid 70’s myself and my two younger bros were talking about the year 2000 and how old we’d be then. I was 37 when that happened. Now, here we are 22 years later.
And, Pop just turned 89 at midnight…!!!!!!!

We are ringing in the New Year with sunshine as well and negative temps. This morning it was -9 and will get to a high of 1. Tomorrow it should be a balmy -19!
Today I would rather have sunshine and cold than it be a little warmer and have snow.The NHL outdoor winter classic game is this evening and in Minneapolis. Hubs and I had thought about getting tickets and now I'm glad we decided not to, it is on track to be the coldest winter classic game yet. We will watch it in the comfort of our home.

Sun? HAHAHA! We have about 6 inches of the white stuff on the ground right now. It snowed here when we were visiting the in-laws in Chicago so B called up some of his confirmation students and offered them community service hours to shovel the driveway so we wouldn't have to come home and do that. The kids actually did a nice job, and shoveled the mailbox area too.

Please keep those temps--- here in SC it is 65 going up to mid 70's crazy weather we have not had a hard frost yet the grass is still green and my eggplant is still a live should have died back in Nov,
