It's sad that the new West Side Story is doing so bad at the box office. If only they didn't cast Ansel Elgort, don't think he's a very good actor. I like musicals (somewhat) though I haven't seen a lot of them.

I saw the last 5 or 10 minutes of Into the Woods on TV and that was like a train wreck. The problem with musicals is the flow (story line to song hence the story) I believe.
Could not even finish into the woods. The constant switching of themes and lack of proper flow just.. eww..

What is that about? I just see an error code when I click on it. Did your account go down?
looks like a direct link to google emails o... I'm confused as well.

Unless her account was vulnerable and someone is posting malparsed (to hack) links to google email, so when someone from the forum clicks on it.. it grants access to the account of who clicked.

Blame Sondheim for that...the original musical is actually even darker and more convoluted...the movie version toned it down.

That being said, some of the songs from it are absolutely beautiful and Meryl Streep kills in that role.

I'd make lobster gravy but seeing it's just us this year it's not worth the money when the boys don't appreciate it;) I am going to make James learn to properly soak baccala:D
You know thousands of people would love to know how to cook things. With you I just strive to have any idea about what the hell you are talking about. Are you inventing new names for things or just specializing in dishes that almost no one else has ever heard about.

I've been watching Miss Universe over the years. Part of the highlights is when the country locations are showcased with the contestants in the background. Now with covid there were more chat sessions between Steve Harvey and the ladies. One thing I noticed was when Steve introduced the 16 ladies that progressed to the semi finals is that no one needed a translator and all spoke very good English. His questions were at times off the wall and surprised especially Miss India who was the winner of the pageant. Many of the semi finalists were very beautiful ladies of color .
I was also surprised that all (or most) of the contestants spoke English. Have somewhat mixed feelings about that. Wondering if they made it a requirement this time (as the show owners are based in the U.S., but they always have been). I used to think the interpreters added some interest to the various foreign country contestants.

I remember when Price is Right host the late Bob Barker used to be the MC at the annual Miss Universe pageant. At one of the Q&A during one of the shows in the 1970s I will never forget one of the ladies who used a translator because she could speak little to no English. Bob asked her what words did she learn in English. She replied " Hi, and I love You ". Bob and the audience smiled and approved.

Yah, I think those little moments lent some charm to the show. Again, I had no problem with the interpreters--seemed a bit more realistic.
