Yes that seems to be the case in cities that I have traveled in that have decent NY style Italian food are located in , - mid range, high end settings. There could be a mom and pop place but that is true, an authentic eatery probably has a NJ/NYC transplant working / owning the restaurant. When visiting NYC, NJ the opposite is true. A number of mom and pop, small town, big town , by the beach ( Jersey locals call it the Shore ) one can get quality Italian food, especially the pizza. Ask someone in Austin if they have heard of cold sesame noodles in a Chinese place. They probably never heard of it. A guy tried to operate a pizza place in FL by importing the water from NYC to make the dough. The quality of NYC/NJ pizza is the superior water quality content that makes the breads, bagels, pizza taste like no other. We actually have a very authentic Italian restaurant in our neighborhood that I’ve posted about beforecalled Reale’s.
The family moved here from New York about the same time we did. Also good Chinese and diner food. I rarely eat bagels, so not sure on that.

As an aside, Mr. Shatner is still quite sharp at his age. I saw an interview with him recently, and he was both intelligent and funny. For him, age 90, is just a number. When you are 90 and probably deep in dementia, he probably doesn't have that much to lose.
I'm reminded of something in Harry Potter, when Hagrid is trying to defend one of his animals because it attacked someone, and he says "A dog will bite if you bait it." And that's the thing...we may never know why their dog has an issue with certain others in the neighborhood, but she obviously feels these particular dogs are a threat. And when a dog feels threatened, they WILL defend themselves...I'm really surprised he was able to call her off, actually. My daughter's classmate had a new puppy, just a couple of months old, and a very small breed. They were out walking it and someone with a big huge dog didn't have theirs on a leesh. The big dog made a beeline toward the puppy, snapped it up and shook it to death. The owner should never have been out with the dog without a leash, and I don't blame the dog, though it was the dog that killed the puppy. That's complete negligence on the part of the owner. I don't even think it's legal...I'm pretty sure there are leash laws here. It's good that your SIL was able to call her off before anything happened, but that's just in a dog's nature and as the owner, you're responsible for him/her. My dog growing up was the sweetest thing, never met a stranger, and he might bark at you but it was out of excitement. But my dad came over and the dog jumped up and down, all happy to make a new friend, and my dad picked him up by the head and threw him across the room. He scurried away and hid, but whenever my dad or his sister came over, he growled and nipped at them. And a meter reader hit him with a stick even though he was chained up and couldn't reach him. He nipped at meter men after that. But he was never aggressive with anyone else, only with my dad and his sister (they must have smelled similar) and the meter readers, and only because they abused him. We never let him out without his chain. He got out a few times and had himself an adventure, usually to the dogsitter's house, and then we'd go and pick him up or he'd show up on the porch, ready to come back in. But it was always an accident when he got out without the chain. Let's hope this incident taught your SIL to keep her leashed from now on!!Yes, he was at fault completely, and he was angry mostly because he was sure the the dog would not do that, but she did and then he was angry. He didn't hurt her, but he did scold her which previously I would have thought that would be the same as scolding a wall. I'm sure it was an anger that she picked up from his voice and tone. But, it is to bad that dog detail memories are short because I know she was upset. You could see it in her eyes and the way she was looking up at him trying to get back to their "friend" standing. Her instinct will again kick in if the situation comes up again, but hopefully HE learned something and won't do that again. I guess we should expect more from the human than the dog.
Right? He says "I wonder if I can pet it" or something like that, and I actually said out loud "I wouldn't." and then he says "Hi, boy!" and I swear I heard a woman in the background say "Don't!" just before you hear snarling and the camera starts jerking. How do people still make this mistake when EVERY year, people are attacked by wildlife because they got too close? Last year, there was the woman in Custer State Park who lost her pants to a bison, and I don't know how many other incidents, but how do people still think it's a good idea to approach wildlife??Lol, I'm thinking, stop recording and get out of there, those things are aggressive...and then wham!
I lost my pants to a buffalo once. Worst night of poker ever.Right? Oh no, I'm so sorry. How long have you had him/her?Had to put the kitty down tonight cause heart failure reared it's ugly head. Im in tears.
Hrmmm....why'd you use your pants to wager? Were they worth a lot? I mean....Buffalo don't wear clothes, so what would he do with your pants? And if you were playing strip poker with an animal who doesn't wear clothes, how did you lose?I lost my pants to a buffalo once. Worst night of poker ever.
State Fish and Game Wardens' rule of thumb: give ALL wild animals (yes, that includes even cute-looking deer -- no, they're not all just like Bambi ) a lot of SPACE.Right? Do you know many ferrets who wear clothes ?Hrmmm....why'd you use your pants to wager? Were they worth a lot? I mean....Buffalo don't wear clothes, so what would he do with your pants? And if you were playing strip poker with an animal who doesn't wear clothes, how did you lose?
And the ageless wonder William Shatner, where a 90 year old has never gone before...space. I would like to know his hair implant guy. I need part of Mr. Shatner's hair.As an aside, Mr. Shatner is still quite sharp at his age. I saw an interview with him recently, and he was both intelligent and funny. Even things like Rabbits, squirrels, prairie dogs...they may look cute, but they can be vicious, and they can carry all sorts of fun diseases, like bubonic plague.State Fish and Game Wardens' rule of thumb: give ALL wild animals (yes, that includes even cute-looking deer -- no, they're not all just like Bambi ) a lot of SPACE.
Well no, but you said you lost your pants to a buffalo....who am I to question why a ferret was wearing pants in the first place?Do you know many ferrets who wear clothes ?
Yikes! And I used to eat rabbit stew and deer meat ( venison ) years ago..Even things like Rabbits, squirrels, prairie dogs...they may look cute, but they can be vicious, and they can carry all sorts of fun diseases, like bubonic plague.
That's a whole other storyWell no, but you said you lost your pants to a buffalo....who am I to question why a ferret was wearing pants in the first place?
That's different -- no harm if properly cooked, etc. What we're referring to is "live" animals in the wild -- all kinds.Yikes! And I used to eat rabbit stew and deer meat ( venison ) years ago..
