It is amazing how many variations that grandfather has. It really depends what part of the country you are in. My part of the country was grandpa and grandma. When our grandkids were born my wife refused to be old enough to be grandma, so she insisted it be Nana! It later became Candy Nana because she always had candy for them and it provided easy acknowledgement between the two grandparents. The other was called Nana Sunshine because that is what she called all of the kids.

I had a 10 year gap before the last one was born. She was slow to start talking, but had developed her own sign language until one day she just magically started talking in complete sentences, but she called me Gampa. I melted when I heard it. I have to admit that Pappy makes me picture someone with a Jed Clampett hat and bib overalls sitting in a rocking chair with his shotgun across his lap.

Just kidding with you my friend. Congratulations on the newest family member. You have a very large family already whereas my family tree has a lot fewer branches, but I still sometimes see pictures of my little orbital family and can't help but thinking. Wow, look how many people are now in the orbit that started with just the two of us. Even at my age it makes me a tad verklempt.

Thank you so much...!!! :)
My 4 grandparents were “Grandma” and Grandpa” (insert last name) to all of us.
My folks and MIL are Mimi and Pawpaw (insert first name) to our kiddos, and Carolyn and I are Nana and Pappy to Emmy.

The Pappy for me actually comes from Lieutenant Colonel Gregory “Pappy” Boyington of WWII flying ace, Medal of Honor recipient, and “Baa Baa Black Sheep” (the book) fame.
He was much older than many in his last squadron, so that was his nickname.

And yes, it’s all beyond very heartwarming and almost beyond words, sometimes. I do my share of “verklempting” 🤔:D:hilarious:;) over it all, myself, especially with videos like the one below, on my 57th birthday...!!!!! :inlove::happy:

One more day of tests and then E's done with that! Woohoo. She still has to turn in her English portfolio that shows she can actually speak English, and they have an activity on Friday and one next Thursday, and then school is for all intents and purposes done for this school year. She doesn't have to go the other days because she has no incompletes or make up tests. A still has 2 weeks after this, but they have some fun activities planned in those two weeks, so it's not all standard classes. They are organizing a chess tournament, and I think they are maybe going to the movies, and maybe doing a picnic. E's English diploma ceremony is on the 13th, so that's exciting that they can do that this year. The school usually does a gala, which they aren't doing this year, but one of the girls lives out of town and has some big party tents and such, so they are going to host a gala at their house, so E and I are going dress shopping on Saturday.
