@Figgy1 you would have lived being at my hiuse today. Sunny and 93 today with just enough of a breeze to keep it feeling nice out. I was going to have a mojito but we need lime juice (alreadh on the list$ so i had a Kona Hanalei a POG beer. Very refreshing!
That sounds perfect, thank you for thinking of me. We got the A/c installed today but seeing it only got to 85 no need to waste electricity;)

Indeed, as did her mother and 2 younger sibs...!!! ;)

As an aside, we had a bit of a scare this morning...
Megan fell on her stomach early this morning, and they ended up in the ER. Sarah went over to watch Emy at about 2:30a, and took the day off.
We didnā€™t know until about 8:15a when Megan texted us from her hospital bed to tell us both her and the baby were fine, but, at the time, she was having contractions, was 2cm dilated, and effacing. Dear Lord.
Thankfully, all is back as it should be now, but, theyā€™re keeping her overnight just in case.
Never a dull moment (and yes, that is also a Disney movie from back in the day ;))...!!!!! :facepalm:šŸ¤ŖšŸ™ƒ:hilarious:
Those are scary times. My youngest was 8 1/2 months along when she had a car accident where the car ended up on it's side with her strapped in. Everything there turned out fine, but it was of great concern for a few hours. She ended up going full term and actually had to be induced. The young fellow just didn't want to leave the nest I guess. He's now a 20 year old total piece of work.

That may work once he's done with school. Only 6-8 more years:banghead::banghead::banghead:
My oldest has a son that is currently 21 years old and continuing college. He's supposed to graduate next year, but honestly he shows no signs that he is going to leave, ever. He has a nice room filled with electronics and seems glued to the place. He has no social life and spends all his time when not doing school work, on his computer trying to come up with the next big video game. My opinion? He will do it and be the wealthiest person in the family. I just think that he is missing a lot of experience of life, but I guess when he is ginormously wealthy he'll have all the friends he could ever want.

I found something unique and humorous today on Lautenbach's Orchard County Winery & Market Facebook page. That market & winery is located in Door County.

That facebook page showed pictured of a scared donut with orange frosting running on National Donut Day:hilarious:. That donut in question running had eyes, legs, and 2 arms in the air.

That county Winery & market has that as one of the pictures on National Donut day because it sells donuts including cherry donuts. Their donuts do not have arms, legs, or eyes. They do not sell orange frosting donuts to my knowledge.
I miss Door County and their cherry donuts! They are delicious!!!

I got kicked out 3 days before my 18th birthday.

Must have been awful having an A student with 2 jobs in the house. šŸ¤£šŸ™„
I had one that had graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. with a 4.0 GPA and another that graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA with a 3.8 GPA. One decided to stay home and put money away so she could have a down payment on a house right away. The other would spend the night at her boyfriends house and come home in the morning to take a shower, have breakfast and leave for work. (rinse and repeat).

Just as a way to explain my feelings on the situation. Both of them were within 2 years of each other so I had two children going to very expensive schools at the same time (thank god for scholarships) and at the same time my wife was getting her Masters at UMass in Boston and having an apartment there for that purpose. My point was that my bank accounts were screaming for mercy.

So, for the first one, who had a good paying job, I told her that the next month she was going to start paying room and board because I needed to start restoring my finances so I might be able to retire someday. Oh, she was not happy, but she did get an apartment and we still talk to each other. Her boyfriend moved in and is now her husband of 23 years. The second was perfectly content with only using the house as freshen up point. And although I have absolutely no moral objection to her playing house, I had a very strong emotional objection to it and decided that if she wanted to play house it was time for the 24/7 adventure. I loaded up my pickup with her furniture and belongings and took it to her boyfriends to underline that fact. Not a surprise, I told her ahead of time. She was not real happy about it either. I should add that her boyfriend at the time is now her 21 year long husband.

Anyway, both have done real well in life so far and I am proud of both of them. I guess I was always a believer that the job of a parent was to teach them how to survive in the world and when the time came to lovingly give them a little shove out into it. What I just described above, I know will upset some who never want to see their children leave, but in nature very few species ever just hang on forever. I love both of them with an intensity that cannot be described and I do not regret how I handled those situations. They might spit on my grave someday for my actions, but I don't think they will because I think they now understand why. They both knew and still do that if they really needed me due to something they had no control over and genuinely needed help of any kind, I would always be there for them.

My situation was a little more volatile. I had been briefly talking with my Dad who I hadnā€™t seen since I was five, because my Mom had contacted him the previous year to pay for a Saturday college art class I qualified for while in high school.

My motherā€™s current husband and I were going to kill each other.

She called Dad again to say I was out of control, and maybe he could talk some sense into me; so he came to pick me up for a few days and thatā€™s how we ā€œmet.ā€

His conclusion after those few days was that I wasnā€™t messed up, I was in a messed up house. He suggested I move in with him (about 90 minutes away.) This threw my mother for a loop, and when I couldnā€™t give her an answer on the spot as to whether I intended to go or not, she threw me out for even considering going.

For a very long time, all New Englanders called sub sandwiches grinders. We never called anything other then someone we didn't like Weiners. I don't know about Boston, they have always lived in a universe of their own.
Having lived in MA my entire life, the word, grinders, was not used. Sub sandwiches was the term used here. Now, it may be that some isolated regional border areas (example: western MA/NY or MA/VT borders) might have used that, as well as grinders; but again, grinders was considered an out-of-state term. I don't think I even heard that term until I was in my teens.

That reminds me of earlier last year when the public became aware of the pandemic. There were various communication methods used to let the public know of some safety precautions, such as social distancing. Anyway, I got such a laugh out of the example used (meant to be humorous) by Sen. Angus King of Maine. He would jokingly tell the people to maintain the space of one moose between each person! (Light-hearted humor often is more effective at reaching people.) :)

I think the word grinders where RI residents used when I lived there. I called them subs but I thought they were ( wicked ) good. Another term I learned, but the thick NE accents especially from people from Maine was something else.

Continuing with more yard work this week. Our landscaper guy came over yesterday afternoon to dig us some level land for an 18ft pool. Dh, my neighbor and I started at 9am. Went a few inches and hit rock. We live at the top of a hill and it is all limestone. Dh was saying no way we could get it done manually. I called our landscaper the week before but he was so busy we werenā€™t sure he would make it. Then the guys came to cut the grass so I went inside. Lo and behold had a call from the owner. Asked if the afternoon would work. Heck yeah! Came at one and was done before two. There were some huge rocks that got dug up. Hence if we ever wanted an inground dynamite would need to be used. šŸ¤£ Anyway pool is up and half filled with water. Took a picture also of the fairy garden we made. The mushrooms and lights are solar. Looks so pretty at night. We have herbs planted and some perrenials. Threw in some marigolds and planted wildflower seeds in two corners. While digging out old tarp we found a bees nest. They are harmless. Think they are bumble bees. They paid us no mind so we left them and put tomato cages where the nest is so no one will disturb them. Youngest named one of them Arnold. She says he only goes to the pink flowers. The birds love the little water features. Bought solar fountains from amazon. Now we just have to pretty the ā€œmoatā€ around the pool. Going to buy landscaper tarp and put pitted plants around it.image.jpgimage.jpg
