The Covid Disneyland vaccine plan is an awesome plan for Orange County. If the powers to be can actually get the vaccine to Disneyland proper this could be a master plan for states/counties. Leave it to Disney to take the lead countrywide. If they didn’t Lord only knows when S Cali and Disney could begin to safely reopen.

Here is hoping Florida can step up likewise.

I am sure the cost of gas was covered in the room charge --so I guess the room rates will drop accordingly since they are not providing the service--------------NOT!!
I wonder how many people will continue to stay on property. There's not much reason to anymore without Magical Express and such. If you are forced to rent a car, which you then have to pay to park at the resort, you might as well stay off property where it's way cheaper. That was kind of the main benefit of staying on property....not needing a car rental. But if you are going to have to add that cost into your budget, you have to make up for it somewhere, and if the choice is between making my trip shorter or staying off property, I'd stay off property. My husband likes not having to drive so he can have a beer with his meals, but he doesn't want to go back to Disney anyway and asked if E and I would mind just making a girls trip instead, and I don't really drink. Not that we have any trip planned at this point, so it's moot, but for the next time we do....I'm hoping there will be an alternative by then. There are too many issues to not have some form of transportation. Disney is too far from the airport not to offer any type of service to and from, and there are too many people who have no other option. I think they will find a significant dip in their bookings if they don't replace ME with some alternative, even if it's not a free one.

Disney had so much input on the train having a stop at Springs I have confidence Disney has already has a concept. Magical Express cost wise wasn’t working nor was the time commitment. We were using it less and less especially for shorter trips.

Buzz is Disney could absorb the train ticket cost which rack rate is expected to be $10 one way And be tacked into room rates just as Mears ME expenses are built into rooms. There is some expectation that luggage would travel in the same manner for resort guests as with ME, trucked by baggage tags. It wouldn’t matter if you were on a Mears bus or the train If what speculated plans are. The train would just be rapidly faster than buses and just the toll fees alone would be a major savings. Me, I’d welcome the change. Just odd that the 2021 end date for ME. I would hope that has some wiggle room if Disney Station is not ready to roll by January 2022.
But what do you do with your luggage once to get to DS? You'd still need to get to your resort, and the buses are usually packed...no way could you fit your family PLUS all the luggage in the bus. It's not practical.

Hopefully that comes to fruition, though that will be a pain with luggage
That could possibly be reality. Family of four boards train from airport to WDW carry their luggage, transfer to Disney busses carrying their luggage to take them go the hotel. The bars in the hotel better be open for business. In Hong Kong guests board to the train at the airport ( some coming from a long flight from the USA ) carrying their luggage to take them to HKDL park and resorts in 30 min. The MTR train also stops in other places other than Hong Kong Disneyland.

last I seen(November last year) MCO to the Dolphin was 37 US roundtrip in a small van prepaid shuttle.
Taxis were above 45 USD :|
Disney Magical was still running.

It may be $45 if the taxi flat rates. Some do, some don't, and if they don't and you get stuck in traffic, it can get costly. I took taxis to/from MCO to the Swan, and the average "range" was approx. $48 - $65 (before tip). Oh, a few times I took a towncar from Swan to MCO and that ran $70-80.

Again, time of day and traffic would determine taxi fare, for the most part, in my experience. Taxi fare didn't bother me though, as I was getting a decent hotel room rate, which more than made up for the taxi fare.

If you want to go the cheapie backpacker route there is a Lnyx bus at baggage claim level at MCO which costs $2. Guests can carry their luggage on the local bus and share the bus with Orlando locals. Lynx takes you to downtown Orlando making multiple stops then connect to another bus to take you to WDW. The second connection also makes multiple stops. Definitely an eye opening experience if one wants to see another side of Orlando. Ride time is about 2 hours.

Thank you, but it's a rather convoluted route (especially with a suitcase). I can appreciate that Lynx offers a very reasonable public bus service, but (for me), I figure if I'm going to drop a lot of money on a trip, I'll just add in more for the r-trip taxi transportation.

Also, I read (years ago--don't know if this has changed), that the Lynx had a stop somewhere near Downtown Disney Marketplace (not the newer Springs/Landing/West Side areas further down). But then the issue was that the passengers were not then allowed to board the regular Disney (hotels & parks) buses at the Marketplace, as the drivers were not able to accept passengers traveling with luggage.

So the people ended up getting a taxi from the Lynx stop, to their Disney hotel. My guess is that the Lynx bus might work best, if a guest was staying in one of the off-site hotels up on Hotel Plaza Blvd., as they could walk there (with a suitcase on wheels).

Magical Express started in 2005 and Disney opened in 1971 so there has been no bus service before. Just how are they going to get you from the airport to the train station? Another monorail?

One will be amazed what one will carry onboard public transportation. A guy did not want to pay for delivery charges so he carried a mini fridge on the NYC subway he had just purchased to bring to his apt.

Oh, don't get me started!! :hilarious: Please note that I have ridden the Boston subways, buses, trolleys and commuter rail lines for many years. You wouldn't believe some of the things (and people!) I've seen. :joyfull:

Public transit lines tend to be more liberal with carry-on policies. ;) (The Disney parks and hotels buses, not the ME, can state their own rules about no luggage carry-ons, as a private company.)

Long story but I would up landing at JFK instead of EWR once and took my luggage with me into Jersey by public transportation. It was either sit out there and wait for a ride or haul my stuff and get home sooner. Have I mentioned I haven't flown commercial since before 9-11
