Yayyy DH is proud!
Ok smarty pants. At least you bought banannas.
The background looks really hard! I finally finished my Jackson Hole/Teton one today. It was brutal and I almost gave up. It was a really cheap one, with really thin pieces that are cut kind of wonky, so not everything matches up. So you couldn't tell if a piece really belonged or not. I had to redo sections several times...even just the outer perimeter took a long time to get the sky part right, because there was nothing to match up to the picture. My daughter got it all together, then once we got the mountain and the barn and stuff done, we had to redo the sky portion of the outside because she got somethings wrong. Then as I was putting the inside part together, I realized it still wasn't right, so I had to redo a couple more pieces. I couldn't get the mountain range to line up right, so I asked my husband to look at it, and he got it fixed. The pieces are so thin and the edges don't match correctly, so I had an extra row in there and had to remove a couple of pieces and shift everything together. I don't think I'll ever do that one again!!Work in progress. It’s harder than you thinkView attachment 521828
Wow that is a hard one. Sometimes I get fed up and have to walk away for awhile then I find pieces I missed when I return. The background looks really hard! And now I started one of Neuschwanstein castle. I have the perimeter done, the pieces mostly sorted, and the bottom part of the castle together. SOOOOO much easier, so far!
After we put the perimeter together, we didn't touch it for about a week. I was dreading it...it was so hard! The Mountains down to the bottom weren't quite as bad, because you could look for specific things like the positioning of the bison legs and tell approximately where it should go. You could look for a knot in the wood on the barn, or how close together the shingles were to see which part of the roof that piece was. But the sky had no definition...it's just vague contours and shapeless lumps. And you would put in a piece that fit, and then find out that that wasn't quite right, there was another piece almost exactly the same with slightly different coloring. So that's why I had to keep redoing sections...I'd put a bunch together and then check the picture on the box and see there was supposed to be a tiny little bit of the off-white through the purple and I'd have to rip that bit apart and find the bit that actually goes there. That upper right hand purple/pink bit had to be redone several times. And sometimes you'd try 20 different pieces in a spot and none of them fit and you'd have to look for one that was about the same that you put in somewhere else, pull it out and try it, and that would actually fit it, then you had to try those 20 pieces in the spot you took it from. It was an absolute pain in the patootie. It kind of took the fun out of it.Wow that is a hard one. Sometimes I get fed up and have to walk away for awhile then I find pieces I missed when I return.
I have had puzzles like that too. It is more stressful than enjoyment. So what’s the point of finishing? After we put the perimeter together, we didn't touch it for about a week.
