Really sorry to hear your driving test is cancelled. You've worked so hard to get your license over there, only to be sideswiped by covid lockdowns. Can they schedule you after Jan. 19th, or are they waiting to see how the case numbers rise or fall by that date?
On January 12th, the Prime Minister will meet with some expert guy to discuss the situation and they will announce then whether things can open back up or not. Then the Dutch DMV will go through all the people who had tests scheduled, and they will reschedule tests. So I will get priority over those who didn't have tests scheduled yet, but anyone who already had their test scheduled for after January 19th gets to do their test, and I will have to wait until they have an opening. So it could be months. I scheduled my test a couple of months ago...there's a long waiting list because they were already backlogged from the lockdown from March to June. I guess we'll see, but I almost feel like the universe is trying to tell me something. I had only had 4 lessons when the first lockdown was ordered. So it was 4 months before I could go back to lessons, and it was kind of like starting over, because I had had so few before they were halted. Then I get an instructor who I don't click with and now I'm one lesson away from the road test and there's another lockdown.

More work-related fun...
So, late this afternoon one of the principal partners called me into his office, and asked me to close the door behind myself, and have a seat. Oh boy, what could be up...?!
He then proceeded to tell me that both the companies annual profit sharing contribution to my 401K and my Christmas bonus were going to be increased by 150%...!!!!!!!!!!! :eek:o_O:greedy::joyfull:
I had to pinch myself about 150 times (OUCH!!! :in pain:;)) because...well...2020...!!!!! :cyclops::hilarious:
When I called Carolyn to tell her, she got so excited she said she thought she may have pee’d herself a bit...!!!!! 🤭:hilarious:
Again, feeling so thankful, grateful, and blessed...!!! :)

What's everyone complaining about? It isn't unusual for there to be snow cover this time of year in the north. I'm trying to remember that saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. You live up north this happens every year around this time. Why would you expect anything different?
If I could move I would move, years ago;) As bad as here is they could send my dh some place much worse

Well the swimming pool shower one was one my husband designed I think, handed it off to the client, and then when the guys went to install it, they either put the filter thing in the wrong place, or they didn't think it mattered, so they put it in a different place. I remember my husband was able to see immediately what they did and it wasn't what he had designed. The other things, they are designs that an architect drew up and they had no knowledge of heating/ventilation, etc...I actually think that one was maybe for an energy label? So my husband is the one who does that for his company. So a company contacts them and asks for an energy label, and my husband has visit the site, do all the measurements, etc, and then he asked about this type of heating that they were installing. It's a new building that's still under construction, so it's not finished yet, and they need to make it to a certain energy efficiency level. So then my husband starts asking questions because he can't do the calculations without knowing, for example, where a heater is in relation to a window, etc. So he was like....well...where's the water source for the floor heating? And they were like....well there's the kitchen and the bathroom....and he's like, no for the pipes for the floor heating....they aren't connected to the kitchen or bathroom. They need a faucet to fill the pipes with water. The guy had no idea what he was talking about. They just hadn't designed that. They designed the pipes in the floor, but not the water source. But I'm not sure who did the design on that one. But you're right....those are huge mistakes. My husband was SO frustrated after talking to the guy on the phone with that one.

Yep, we can provide the most precise, accurate, and descriptive CD’s, but, if a general contractor, sub, etc., can’t follow them, or decides to cut corners, then it throws that part of the project off original intent, and, depending on which aspect it is, it can throw the whole project off original intent. If everyone involved isn’t gonna’ do their jobs as they advertise, and how they’re supposed to from the get-go to completion, then it can be a total cluster.
Our partners and staff do constant site visits as per contractual obligations to ensure as much quality control and CD conformance as we possibly can, but, we can’t afford to have someone hovering over a project 24/7 from start to finish.
We are as meticulous as we can be, but, if others don’t do their job properly, we aren’t gonna’ be thrown under the bus for that. The firm has lawyers that have handled such BS in the past to our satisfaction...!!! ;)

I haven't been complaining about snow. I rather have snow than freezing rain. Freezing rain is what caused me to get a fracture hip years ago. I still have the scar from the surgery even all these years after it happened.

This is more snow in one shot than we've had in the past two years.

Also, I'm flying to SC on Saturday. It was supposed to wait until after I was gone.

Freezing rain and ice is the worst. Sorry to hear about your hip. Besides the scar I hope it hasn’t left you with you with any lingering problems.

Me: the box says that it needs to be eaten within two weeks
A: MOM!! Who is that slow of an eater?!?

Me: that looks like enough sprinkles, A...
A: can I have the jar of sprinkles tomorrow and eat it with a spoon?
Me: that doesn't sound like something I'd say yes to...
A: exactly. But if it's on the gingerbread house I can eat it...
Me: I mean, I guess...
A: so I need MORE sprinkles, mom. The whole jar. So I can eat them!!

Also, this is how she's eating it...

Oh yea, and somethin’ else that was mentioned in our regular Monday morning inter office Zoom meeting today.
Absolutely, no joke...
One of our younger guys who went part time about 6 weeks ago because he needed to re-examine his career choice announced he was finally leaving the firm to be a beer and wine department manager at one of our local HEB grocery stores today.
HEB was founded in Texas in 1905, and there are more than 340 stores in the state, plus 6 in northeast Mexico.
He worked for HEB part time while he and his folks put himself through architecture school at Texas Tech.
Life is just kooky sometimes. He is beyond such a good young man, and the partners told him so in our Zoom meeting, and there may have been some misty... :cyclops:
He’s planning on putting all his oars in the water and moving himself well up the ladder in that company. HEB is BEYOND reputable, and we all wish Cole the best of luck...!!! :)
