My oldest son has been battling ulcerative colitis for 2 months (in and to of the hospital). He has lost over thirty lbs. lucky my wife is a retired ICU nurse and has been with him and can guide my daughter in law on getting medical things done. They started him finally on Humira and he seems to be doing slightly better, he can eat and not have the unbearable pain he has been experiencing for the last 2 months. Asking a pray that this drug puts him in remission and he can regain his strength back

Sorry to hear your son is dealing with this medical condition for a few months now. Sounds like he's really having a rough time. Fingers crossed that the new treatment plan will be the right one for him. He's fortunate to have his mother being a former ICU nurse, as her insight must be very helpful. Best wishes to the family, and let's hope the worst is over for him, and he can recover completely.

They stopped using those airbags in the model I bought. Checked on that before I bought.

Fords have a history of having issues.
Not defending Ford, Found On Road Dead, speaks for itself, but using history to compare it is likely that Ford would have a lot more historical problems. They've been around a whole lot longer. That said, I would never own a Ford, but that is probably a family thing. My father always owned Buicks and my first three new cars were also Buicks, but then drifted away from tradition and have had everything except a Ford. My Father, after being anti-Ford all his life bought a Mercury Grand Marquis for his last car. You never wanted to mention that Mercury's were made by Ford. I really liked Chrysler products for a long time. I owned two K-cars and three Dodge Caravans. I still would own a caravan if it didn't look so silly for a one person family to be driving those. My oldest actually does have a caravan but with 5 in the family it is only practical. My other daughter currently has three Toyota's. My first three actual cars were 1) Plymouth Station Wagon, 2) Oldsmobile F-85 convertible and a VW Bug. Cost was the deciding factor!

We had a 1997 Ford Escort Wagon. It was the BEST car ever, and we had it almost 17 years. Meanwhile, our 2009 Chevy Aveo (bought used about 6 years ago) has been a carp trap from the get-go.

I think the newer small, Ford cars all have issues though, from what I've read on here.

You forgot...Friggin’ Old Rebuilt Dodge, Frigged On Race Day, and Fix Or Repair Daily...!!! ;)
Moms side of the family was Ford, Pops was Chevy/GM.
The first car I ever owned (bought it with my own money) was a used ‘71 Olds Cutlass S with a Rocket 350 and a 2bbl. carb, so it wasn’t as “Rockety” as a Rochester 4bbl. or, better yet, a 442...!!!!! :geek: But, that car was bulletproof...had 92K miles on it when I bought it (payed $1,200, talked ‘em down from $1,400 :hilarious:), and had 185K+ on ‘er when I finally let ‘er go... :(
We’ve owned 2 Hyundai’s, and they were really reliable, and the “free” Chevy that’s my current ride has been more reliable than expected.
We’ve also owned 2 Chrysler/Dodge products...a ‘90 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, and an ‘01 Dodge Grand Caravan (family of 5), and they were the worst pieces of automotive garbage I’ve ever seen. Would take one if it was free :D;), but, still wouldn’t pay for one even almost 20 years later.
My folks traded in their ‘57 Chevy (the one with the Power Pack :hilarious:), shortly before we left Alabama and moved to No Cal in ‘66, for a used Olds F-85. That was a good car. They bought the Chevy Camper Special with the camper in ‘71. My folks still own that truck, and it has remained in front of their fire rebuild...!!!!!
When we finally moved back to Texas, my folks traded in the F-85 for a new ‘77 Buick LeSabre. Decent car, except for the newly designed Turbo-Hydramatic 200 tranny...more garbage. Had to be replaced 3 times, and this was before big warranties. Pop ended up gettin’ all his repair bills back, and they finally redesigned the friggin’ tranny...!!!!! 🤪
Good times...!!!!!!! :joyfull::D:hilarious:;)

From experience, I've decided to never buy American-made cars again.

Both of my GM cars hit 100K miles and just started dying. The Bravada didn't make it past 150K and it was in terrible shape.

My parents have had multiple issues with their Buicks. Including the one that's under warranty. It's had multiple issues from day 1. Leaking sunroof, the check engine light going on while we were on our way to HH...

My grandfather is a car guy, and when I asked him about what I should get, he just said, "Not a GM or a Ford."

My parents for some reason are loyal to GM. I can't figure that one out.

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

Longest lasting two cars we have had in the family were a Saab 900 over 200k all around Europe. And a 110 . Same sort of mileage all around Uk.

The longest lasting vehicles I ever owned were my two caravans. The first one 1998 I bought from my father. Between him and me we put 180K miles on it with no problems at all except the drivers seat broke at about 150K. I sold it and for the next three years it (with driver, of course) passed me every morning on the interstate on the way to work. I went to a junk yard and picked up another seat (different color then the rest, but otherwise worked). I religiously changed the oil every 3000/3500 miles, greased the front end and never had to change the exhaust. My second one had about 80K on it when I bought it and kept it until I went to an auction and bought a Cadillac Deville. I don't remember the mileage, but I had it for a while. I was on a full family trip to WDW in 2008 when both head gaskets blew and it cost me $3000. just to get back home.

My first new car was a 1970 Buick Skylark that I bought when I returned from Vietnam. I had that car when I met my wife, used it on our honeymoon (Quebec City), Brought her to the hospital and back for the birth of both of my children, two years apart. And many other early adventures. I felt I should have had that car bronzed and placed on our mantel. All I was missing was the money to have it bronzed and the mantel.

Almost all my vehicles had over 100K on them, even the Skylark had 110K which anyone that remembers the 70's would be aware that was something close to a miracle. It had the 350 w/2bbl. Very dependable engine, but one time when I decided that I wanted to know how fast it would go, managed to get from 60 to 100 mph in just a little over 4 miles. Definitely a family car. Probably saved me from killing myself. My first caravan, when it got to 80K had a check engine light go on. I took it to a friend that had a machine that would read codes and we found out that it was an automatic notification that the smog control system should be check out. Instead I took out the instrument panel, pulled the lightbulb and was never bother by it again. When it had about 150K on it I started to feel guilty because I never had the transmission drained and filter cleaned. When I took it in the mechanic said, it was up to me, but whatever gunk that is inside that transmission it was probably the only thing holding it together, so it was never done. Good times.

My Ford Focus that my dad left me is around 600k already and still working (mostly lol)

I lucked out as the engineers told me that these cars usually DIE after 10 years in the electrical parts. aka the computer, cables, etc..
