One of my college roommates can trace her lineage back to the Mayflower. I thought that was cool. I am second generation and 100% Eastern European.
I wish I could trace mine back, but there's a very confusing lineage. My g-g-g-g grandfather fought in the revolutionary war....the problem is there were three men with the same name, all born within a year or two of each other and all in the same area. We don't know which one is our ancestor, and the census records didn't list wives and children by name back then. You can find the name, but that's it....I know his wife's last name, but not her first name, and I can't look up anything prior because his name wouldn't appear in the census when he was growing up. I know he had a brother named Ephraim, because he enlisted to take the place of his brother Ephraim according to his pension records. But there's no mention of his parents' names or anything. So that's as far back as I've gotten. I know somewhere along the line, we came from England, but I have no idea when, or who was the first, or what part of England they came from. And somewhere along the line, some of them started spelling the last name differently because of a feud, but it seems to be prior to the Revolutionary war. I've always wondered if it wasn't the war....that some were patriots and some were loyalists? But who knows. They may have come over on the mayflower or one of the other ships, but I'll probably never find out.

How kind of you to think of me and ask. It is definitely better now. In late September I was teaching yet additionally: 1) still tweaking the schedule 2)answering parental emails and phone calls 3) chasing after parents how enrolled their child but never obtained an instrument
4) giving extra help sessions to new students who were struggling 5)creating Youtube tutorial videos for struggling students.
All that work paid off. Now ( for the most part ) many students are experiencing their 2nd or 3rd lesson and things will start to feel routine. Yesterday a flute student who had been struggling overcame her obstacles....something I said ( and my Youtube video ) clicked for her. She had success and I could see the joy on her face.
That's what its all about! Thanks again for asking :)
I learned violin in junior high. I cannot imagine learning over the internet though. How do the string instrument students do?

Before my father passed away he researched the family tree and traced his side of the family back to gggg grandfather who fought in the Revolution --rebel side. Mothers side are recent arrivals from Germany turn of the century
I'm the one in my family who has done the research. Well, on my dad's side. My mom did hers in the late 80s and turned it into a calendar with family recipes and such. But her side only goes back to the 1800s with the ancestors who came over from Germany, whereas my dad's goes back to the revolutionary war.

Great grandparents I already knew about. Had names and all. It helps that I still have two living grandparents. Actually, one of my great grandmothers lived until she was 95 and died when I was 13, so I have very clear memories of her.
I only met 1 great grandparent. My dad's grandma from his mom's side. My dad's grandparents were younger than my mom's grandparents. My dad's grandma and grandpa from his dad's side would've only been in their late 70s when I was born, but they already were dead:(. My dad did not remember his grandfather due to how young he was. His grandma died just 4 months before my parents got married.

The great grandma from my dad's side was only 70 when I was born and died when she was 83. She was the mom of my grandma. She was so young that my mom's grandparents are old enough to be her parents.

It was pretty easy for my dad to trace as there is a family cemetery in upstate NY going way back he and my sister went and cleaned it up as it was very neglected but the head stones were still readable. Originally came from Ireland but were English and had settled in Ireland briefly and left for the colonies. I tried to trace further back but it got very confusing

I had absolutely no reaction to my flu shot again this year, as in all past/passed? years. Due for the rest of the shingles shot next month.
This year I am lucky with the flu shot. When I was a kid, I had the flu just 2 or 3 weeks after after getting the flu shot. The same thing happened to my younger brother and my dad in the past. I know the shot is not suppose give people that flu.

My mom had problems with her flu shot this year. My mom has fibromyalgia and the flu shot caused it to act up.

I am at the In-Law’s. The last few days have been so up and down, but tonight they are turning off Dad’s pacemaker. They estimate he may live 48-72 hours after that, but who knows.

He gave me a big, groggy “hey!” when he realized I was here.

Did not expect this just yet.

We are trying to get the last estranged brother down from Melbourne tonight vs. tomorrow. I have to go to work for a bit and then try to tidy up the house for them.
