That one is easy for me it is called "Wind From The Carolina's" by Robert Wilder. You cannot find it anywhere anymore except occasionally on eBay, but it is the book that started me being a serious reader. It was the first book that brought me into the story and let me imagine all of it happening. I have read it at least 15 times since high school. Interestingly, it was years before I ever even considered moving to the Carolina's. My first copy ended up falling apart and a friend of mine found a copy on eBay and gave it to me as a gift.

Prime is not worth it for me. My parents have it but I can wait for week for it to get here. Non prime members get screwed for shipping. But I have ordered stuff from Macy's, Target that gets here faster than prime does for my parents.
Here we have Prime. It arrives 1-2 days. A few things day of if it is Amazon staples. I am a fan. Keeps me out of stores. I have not put gas in my truck in 3 months. COVID S*cks.

Is there a possibility that the hospital will wave it? Did he not have insurance? When my mom passed, she had over $10,000 that wasn't covered by insurance. The insurance company wanted her to travel to California for bone scans because it was cheaper there. Yeah....THAT'S realistic. So they denied a lot of her claims for medical treatments that she really did need because it was too expensive in Wyoming. They would have paid for it if she had gone to California, but not when she got treated where she lived. The hospital waved all of those fees so we didn't have to pay them. I mean, what do they do if there's no kin to pay it off?
Oh there will be a lawyer involved. He had very good insurance but there are too many questions unanswered. My kids had nothing to do with the medical authorization. Treatment doesn’t match the prognosis that matched the final outcome. What a mess.

FYI ---Commander-in- Chief of all our armed forces is entitled to go to Walter Reed just like any other military personnel. Your TDS is showing
I think that was kind of her point....most people don't have that kind of access to medical care. That's an elite level of care that the average person doesn't have. Like her ex- husband, who died of Covid and now her children are saddled with extreme hospital bills because he's not here to pay them. And it's not really fair to put that on them.

Everyone else eventually pays it at about the same rate that Medicare for all would cost. I'm glad that most people aren't in the field of accounting because their math skills totally suck. Hospitals make that up someplace and that means that prices go up for everyone else and that means that insurance premiums also increase. There are NO free rides unless you are a rich person.
Well I think that's part of the problem....they already have the prices jacked up so high that no one can afford them unless they are rich. When they charge you like 10 bucks for an aspirin, or a bandaid...that 10,000 dollars debt barely paid for any treatment, and over here, things wouldn't have been so expensive. The US way over-charges for everything and that's how people go bankrupt if they get sick. But I don't want to get into that, because we're approaching taboo subjects.
