Although, it was actually more like a Two-Thirds-day Friday ‘cause I worked ‘til 2...!!! ;)
We’re so busy we’ve been asked to work OT, which hasn’t happened in years...though the time-and-a-half pay will come in handy...!!! :)
Will head back into the office at some point tomorrow to get an elevation rough sketch done. Woulda’ finished it today, but, I really didn’t feel like hangin’ out at the office ‘til 5 or 6p on a Friday...!!!!! :D

I'm curious about something in this picture, and it's about the elongated roofs (in some parts of the structure).

Especially with the left and right (lower structures, in forefront of picture) --not the actual tip top of the buildings, but lower down. There are "things" that sort of extend out beyond window and roof lines. Also, is the lower building on the right a garage, and if so, why is the piece over the garage doors extending out there as well?

This is why I'm not an architectural designer -- anything more complicated than a regular square box, even on all sides, throws me into a tizzy. :hilarious:

:hilarious:
If you mean the circled areas below, those are metal awning roofs...I didn’t have the attached brackets on them yesterday when I took the pic.
Ideally, they’re strategically placed to provide windows/doors with additional sun/elements protection.
They’re also often used as an architectural element to break up massing, add depth, color variation, etc.
Or, simply, as decoration...!!! ;)
If you mean the “boxouts” in the foreground in front of both garages, those are storage areas that are also articulated to create interest, depth, break up massing, etc.
We try very hard not to just plop things on our designs without giving thought to the overall picture. Proportion is also taken highly into consideration and scrutinized.
We feel we’re pretty spot-on about properly dialing it all in before it’s all said and done, no matter what style it is, but, nobody’s ever always 100%...!!! ;)

ETA...
This, like all projects in the early stages, is still very much a dynamic work in progress, and is subject to minor or major change...!!! ;):)

Wow, metal awning roofs. That would make sense down South where it's so hot. Think I've only rarely seen anything like that around here. I suppose when they're folded down over the windows, they might also serve as some sort of hurricane window protections as well. (I presume they latch shut.)

O.k. I approve your project now, so feel free to show it to your boss. :joyfull:

The roofs are actually fixed in place...again, no need for hurricane protection this far inland...!!! :)
But, several of the houses we’ve designed down on the Texas Coast have incorporated exterior metal window protection for just such an occurrence.

Maybe some, but I'm sure there are lots of people who are just happy to be there and don't go for the fireworks shows or lighting. We were there for 2 weeks last Summer and the only show we went to was Illuminations once with the cousins, and Fantasmic one night. We didn't bother with Rivers of light, and the one time we tried to watch HEA, we were so late that we didn't actually get to see anything. I was staring at a kid's butt the whole time because his dad had him up on his shoulders and I couldn't move in such a way to see anything. We didn't bother to try again. It's just not that important to us. I guess it depends on the guests. For me, the lighting and shows aren't a deal breaker. Now, if they shut down World Showcase, I'd have a problem. And I have to say without Voices of Liberty, it wouldn't be the same for me. I have a much bigger issue with that than I do with no night time shows, etc.

And Voices of Liberty will be back for the Holiday season! I think I read that they will be performing at the outdoor theater in the America pavilion. We missed them and the Dapper Dans in August.

It's been a really pleasant trip down here. Most guests are following social distancing protocols. I've barely seen anyone wearing their masks improperly. Lines have been short.

I really haven't seen any poor guest behavior down here. It seems like the majority of poor guest behavior comes from guests who are like "I paid all this money to come here and I will do what I want!" Most people here seem to be regular visitors who don't have that attitude.

So nice to hear. I worry about Disney’s decision announced to relax social distancing on many attractions, I get the upping of need to increase volume of guests. Me safety of guests is concerning Despite what the Florida Governor professes. I’m at odds.

Home is where the heart is. ;)

This guy (3 min., 20 sec. video) has the coolest "house" I've ever seen! :joyfull: (Hey, @donaldtoo , I'd like to see your firm outdesign this masterpiece! :p )

I've never been there during the holidays either;, but I can tell you that from years of reading posts from forum members, the decorations, shows, etc., that WDW puts on for that, are outstanding. They are a major draw to the parks during that time.

So whether guests are local. or from out of state. or country, this will be a big disappointment to many.
Oh I'm sure! It would be a huge disappointment...but will it be enough of an issue to keep people from going altogether? In the grand scheme of things, I'd rather be at Disney with no castle lights than HERE with no castle lights. It wouldn't be enough to make me cancel a trip.

Well to be honest, the US has acted like we're not in a pandemic but people shouldn't blame Disney for what other people and business have been doing from Day 1.

Like the Wicked Witch of RI wanting no more than 15 people to congregate but yet, schools are going to be open.

Well, that's good if you could go (if there weren't any flight restrictions, etc., for example), you'd probably still enjoy the trip. I think my original point was directed more for the people who have enjoyed all the special lights, etc., during the holidays down there. For them in particular, it would probably be a big disappointment. (I've read in trip forums for example, about a number of people who go every years specifically at Christmas for all the extra displays, lighting, etc.)

For people like yourself or me (who have never been during the holidays), it may not be noticed as much.

From what I understand that's Uni, not Disney.

Some of them I think they can relax a bit. RnRC for example. I think one group per car is fine. Right now it's every other row. There's plexiglass between rows while you're waiting, so I think on the ride is fine. Especially since the headrests are a physical barrier. Same with Everest.

Hershey does it where if you can see the person in front of you (no headrest) they load every other row. If you can't see the people in front of you, they load every row, but they won't put strangers with you unless it's a single rider in a four row with another single rider if the two agree. I've seen them have a row for four with one person in it, though. No issue with that.

I've seen reports UNI is a cluster on weekends
