Good girl! Some people enjoy being tipsy. I am not one of those people.
I did have a margarita. There wasn't a show with that one.

That sounds like a great day! I'm glad Dad was cooperative with you! Maybe he just needed someone who wasn't one of his kiddos? Dinner looks great... and I love that the cake tells you what it is!B brought a bday card to the restaurant, and we caught up about our mornings. It was such a nice āvisitā as Iāve barely seen him for two weeks! Sadly, that was it, he went back to Dadās and I went home with my huge leftovers (I had about three bites of that homemade pasta and was stuffed lol.) He said there was one more surprise at home (mind you, my gift was already a new iPhone early this month!)
At home, there was another bday card on the table. This one had Mickey on it.

I said, āOh, no - this so-and-so better not have gotten Disney tix - I have so many points to use!ā
Thankfully, he hadnāt.
But there was a big olā cake in the fridge:

And oh, yes it was! Banana cake with banana cream filling between the layers, chocolate ganache - omg.
That could not have been easy to find around town, and I appreciated how much thought had gone into it with all he has been going through lately.
Today I had leftover pasta for breakfast, banana cake for lunch, some time in the sun in the afternoon, a visit from B to watch a TV show, and tomorrow is back to work if I can button my pants!
Here's an interesting story I saw this morning.
(If you don't want to read the text, there is a brief video about 3/4's of the way down in the article, showing the dog "singing". )
Now, just to be clear, he doesn't belt out "Old McDonald had a Farm" or anything like that, but he does have some interesting tones to hear. The first one you hear sounds pretty much like a regular howl, but further into the clip, there are some unusual sounds. Very cool doggie !
Rare 'singing' dog, thought to be extinct in wild for 50 years, still thrives | CNN
Predecessors of a rare dog breed whose howl sounds a bit like a whaleās call are still living in the wild in West Guinea, Indonesia, analysis of DNA has found.www.cnn.com
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How big is it? It must be a monster because I need to do many batches to just get tomatoes doneHubby got me a food dehydrator for my birthday... so right now I have strawberries, apples, and little cherry tomatoes drying....... Anyone else do food dehydrating?
Reported.I'm not a fan of lobster
I think our air fryer does it but havenāt tried it yet.Hubby got me a food dehydrator for my birthday... so right now I have strawberries, apples, and little cherry tomatoes drying....... Anyone else do food dehydrating?
Vanilla extract is beyond easy. All you have to do is put split vanilla beans in vodka, shake daily for the first month and then at least once a week after that. Cost about $50 in total for a gallon. The hardest part was sourcing the beans, my health food store had the best price on them
Tony, you are such a good person for taking care of your FIL like you did. It sounds like he really appreciated it as well. So happy to read he said āLove youā.Thanks to all for the bday wishes. It was a day of rushing around, but it was good!
First of all, my experience with my FIL was 100% positive! Brian took me to his room to show me how to empty the bag. Dad is a big right winger (Reagan Republican who didnāt like Trump at first but has since taken to him.) So I walked in, saw a smile, and felt safe enough to joke: āIām here to collect your ballot.ā
He got a kick out of that, and pointed to the Trump hat on the nightstand with a huge grin. I mostly left him alone unless I heard a noise (one time he dropped a glass.) I got some work done. And when I did have to go in and take care of the bag, I put on some gloves, walked in and said, āFlorence Nightingale is here.ā I added, āYouāre loving this, arenāt you?ā He said, āYeah.ā And as I exited the room, he said, āLove you. Thanks.ā
Having conquered that, I had two hours to stop home, pick up a wholesale order 30 mins away, take half to one store, stop at the kava bar a few doors down for a bday shot, take the rest to the other store, and get home by 3:30 for a 4PM reservation as per Bās instructions.
Almost made it, had to put off the second stock drop and meet Brian at the venue (which was a surprise, so he gave me directions to the Target in the same plaza.) We went to Vinnieās Lobster Bar. Havenāt been to a real restaurant since March. Picked a table in a corner near the bar. (The bartender could hand me my old fashioneds without leaving the bar, and no one else would be near us.)
We split a jambalaya app with Italian bread (it was like a dinner portion) plus a Manhattan clam chowder, and I was full! Brian had a filet, which was excellent, and I had Maine lobster meat over papardelle with brandy sauce (similar to vodka sauce.) Nothing will ever be Grandmaās lobster gravy, but it was very good!View attachment 494305

I wore sweatpants to bed last night for the first time since May. The only good part about the weather is no need to turn on the heat or air conditioning. Not sure what our whole month of September looks like, but, tomorrowās revised forecast sure makes me sad...

No, but I would love one, just donāt know where to store one. I hate having things on my counters. There is only a juicer permanently on my kitchen counter. It is too big and heavy to put anywhere else.Hubby got me a food dehydrator for my birthday... so right now I have strawberries, apples, and little cherry tomatoes drying.......
