We are currently in line waiting for the Skyliner to open at the pop. And there is a family group behind us about a group of 20 and they have busted out their portable speaker and are playing music and singing along. So am I too much of a fuddy duddy to think this is poor etiquette? It isn’t terrible music but still. I also dislike when people pull out their portable speakers at the pool too.

Yeah that is a bit much. They should be at the beach instead of in a line waiting. Respect and consideration go a long way.

Voice of dissent here -- I despise the new colors on the castle.

What I am ecstatic about, however, is that those two are having fun at WDW today! We can all enjoy a virtual vacation from her posts.

I’ll reserve final judgment ‘til I see it in person (who knows when that’ll be...? :cyclops: And, the colors will probably be faded by then ;)), but, from pics and video, the pink is a little too pink, and the blue looks way too iridescent/bright. I’m OK with the gold.

Hi all. I'm a bit behind. A book I reserved months ago at the library was finally in and so I was reading that, and finished it just in time for a book I've been waiting for for 10 years to come out, so I've been in a literary cacoon for the last week or so. And now it's hotter than Hades out there (37/38C, 99/100F) and of course, no AC here, so I am not sure how much time I want to spend on the computer, because it is just too hot. But I wanted to say hi anyway.

Here is another use for those little tomatoes. I smoked a pork loin today and sliced it thin. My wife made lots of southern veggies to go with the sliced pork loin including the tomatoes used to top the pork.
She took the tiny tomatoes, sliced them in half, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with crushed red peppers, garlic powder and onion salt then roasted them at 400 for about 15 minutes. Added a nice touch to the pork.

I like to fry those little tomatoes in a bit of butter and basil, then add it to cooked green beans with a bit of parmesan cheese and sea salt sprinkled over the top.

GMA this morning...
Hurricane, Covid, camp outbreak in Georgia, wildfires, sharks, murder hornets...and, the only good news I’ve seen so far...Splashdown...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:;)
Stay safe out there...!!! 🙃
I saw a Jimmy Fallon thing where they do a "News made right" thing. They take a news story and change the ending to make it right. They showed the splash down and said that they were briefing the austronauts inside as they were getting out about what's been going on here....Covid, murder hornets, etc, and then they showed the capsule taking off back to space instead of them exiting the capsule. Like "NOPE! Not coming back to THAT! Let's go back to space!"

So, here's my big excitement for today. Our library finally opened (was shut down for Covid restrictions for months . . .). Things are different inside, though. They completely took out the large, front desk librarian reception area. :jawdrop:

Now, they have these freaking kiosks that are used for everything, for touchless use. You scan your library card to read thee online catalog, and also to take out, or return, books and DVDs. Of course, I couldn't scan my card properly, and one of the librarians had to come over and do it for me. (You had to put it in a slanted angle for the stupid beam to connect with it -- I guarantee a lot of people will get stuck on that.)

The funny thing was that their IT guy had to come over and reset all the machines to last a longer time before cancelling out. You see, you have to scan your card and then scan the book to take it out, but since scanning my card took so long (on multiple attempts), the system kept shutting down before I got to scan in my books. :hilarious: He realized he was dealing with lame people like me, so he had to adjust the timing. :p

The thing that really disappointed me was that all my favorite (expensive) business newspapers, journals, etc., and also ALL assorted magazines are GONE. Freaking Covid restrictions. One of the librarians told me they can't sanitize those items, so they had to remove all of them, per state guidelines for libraries. I used to love to sit in the library and read a bunch of those. :( :( Ugh.

So I browsed around some of the stacks, and found a few books to take home.
We've had the self scan kiosks for years here, and we also have a "smart shelf" return system. Instead of dumping your books into a slot, you put them into this special bookcase that scans them when they are put on the shelf. There's a screen so you can see if it registers or not. If it's been reserved by someone else, the title turns red on the screen, and then you have to put it into a separate compartment that gets emptied first so it's a faster turnover to the next person. It really does work well, IF you know how to use it, but there was definitely a learning curve to it.

Do you read a lot? What genres do you like?

Nope. I hate that too. They are imposing their music on everyone and not being thoughtful that others may not want to hear it.
