I rather Enjoyed the Dixie Chicks. They brought a refreshing and a female band About when you were born. There were plenty of female artists, there were few female bands. I loved their bluegrass/country tone.

While still in my 20s and still in a macho era of guys rule in the music industry and others Area of life, guys of my age demographic loved to slam the Dixie Chicks. So many derogatory nicknames given to this group of successful women. History they stood early on for being against the Bush era War with Iran. Years later the verdict is still out but they may have been spot on. Still they stayed their convictions and principles and survived the crass nicknames so many men labeled them with And do so even today Cause they are chicks.

I so admire their convictions Of 2020 that were there back in the late 80s. So many women were lost to men discrediting women’s successful careers. Dropping Dixie from their name deserves a kudos vs being called twits.

History lesson complete.
I love the Chicks. (formerly Dixie Chicks) They have a song that's become a joke between my husband and I. I have chronic bursitis in my hip and sometimes when I sleep, I need to prop my leg up to give it more support or my hip will scream at me. I have a breast feeding pillow thing, kind of a long, curved beanbag pillow. We used to have a fullsize bed until a couple of months ago, but there just wasn't much room in the bed between myself and my husband, and the pillow took up a lot of space and then my husband couldn't lie so close to me. So he named my pillow "Earl" for the song "Goodbye, Earl" because Earl has to die. :p

I also love SheDaisy. I don't even know if they are still around, but when I lived in the US, I listened mostly to Country music, and when we go back on vacation we usually try to find a country station in the car.

If you have an echo or other internet speaker you can get most US stations. Our favourite is 97.5wpcv.

I don't have an echo, and I don't know what an internet speaker is, but it's ok. It's kind of weird....since I became a mom, I really cherish the quiet in my house. When I'm in the car, the radio has to be on, but at home I don't like a lot of background noise. It just gets overwhelming to me. I used to have the radio on all the time, singing along, etc. Then I had kids and I couldn't stand to have background noise along with everything else. The exception is when I'm in the kitchen baking or when I'm cleaning. Then I want to Sing Out, Louise! and I put on a youtube playlist of Disney songs, or the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack if I want to belt.

Oh wow. I would love that! I haven’t seen all of the seasons. CT is my favorite, I actually watched his season of The Real World lol... but I feel like he gets out early on the past few Challenge seasons that I’ve watched. I think I missed the last season, though.

I like CT a lot too. I too watched his season of The Real World, wasn't that set in Paris? It has been interesting to watch him mature through the years and now he is kind of the "dad" of the group so his comments about people are just funny. Check out the Pluto tv app and then you can watch the old Challenges, they also run old seasons of The Real World sometimes.

I see you mentioned a car so that got me to wonder how your driving lessons are going. Hopefully they are going ok.

I think so too. It’s been fun watching his journey. I will definitely have to check our Pluto tv, thanks!

And... I just realized that I missed your bday too.
🎈🎈Happy (belated) Birthday!!🎈🎈

Meh. I still hate it, but I'm getting better at shifting. I just have a hard time doing so many things at once. I know people say women can multitask, but that's never been me. So paying attention to the signs, and paying attention to other traffic, and thinking about when to shift and into which gear, etc....and then yesterday it was raining cats and dogs part of the time, so I had to keep turning the windshield wipers on and off. I'm getting better at it, but I don't think my instructor likes my driving style. I tend to be more defensive...if I'm coming up to an intersection where I don't have the right of way, I'm more likely to err on the side of caution and slow down a little bit just in case someone comes out of nowhere or a biker's clothing blends in and I didn't see them. Then my instructor will tell me what a shame it was that I braked when there was no one there. But on a roundabout, when you are turning right, you still have to wait for cyclists...they have the right of way, but they are behind you and coming up on your right. So even as you're turning, there could be someone you didn't see in your side mirror, and since I still have to think about shifting, it's not second nature to me, so I need a bit more reaction time. I'd rather take the time to look properly than to hit someone. But over here, they are much more offensive drivers. They'd rather slam their brakes at the last second if they need to than be cautious in the first place. My husband said that, for instance, you'll be considered at fault for an accident if someone hits you from behind because you brake for an animal in the road. That makes NO sense to me. But he said the law doesn't consider that animal to be of as much consequence as the damage of an accident. Better to hit the animal than to have an accident. For me, I think the person behind me is not paying enough attention, or driving too close if they can't react. He says that's true, but it's still my fault for suddenly braking. It's just....so opposite of my instincts, so I'm having to relearn that along with the shifting, and all the signage. It's taking longer than I expected.

I agree! And why does it matter to him what YOU bring on vacation? We got the kids their own laptops because my husband uses his for work sometimes, A needs to play on the computer when he gets worked up and needs a destresser, E needs hers for schoolwork, and I keep in touch with family and friends in the US via computer. It just made more sense for us all to have our own so we don't have to worry about it. It's been especially helpful with the virtual learning. A lot of E's classmates are having issues because they have to share a computer with all the family members working from home, or siblings with their own school work, etc. You can't have two kids doing separate school work at the same time on one laptop. Does he have his own and just didn't want to bring it?
He has an iPad and uses that for internet and such. He was bringing my brother's old laptop. The problem is the thing is old and was cheap to begin with, so you have to use it plugged in and it's extremely slow, so rather than do that, I offered to let him use mine (he has a remote access thing where he can access his work desktop via another computer). He only has a desktop at home, which is now over 10 years old and also needs to be replaced. Part of me giving him my laptop is to demonstrate that he really just needs to get a new computer and buy decent technology.

The morning we were leaving, he had a total fit about how much I was bringing even though it was 1. exactly how much I brought in December and 2. less than what I bring to Disney. He had a fit because I have a backpack with my electronics, a purse, and a duffel bag. Well, half the duffel bag was medications since I have to take my portable nebulizer with me and a million other emergency meds with me, the other half was my camera case, and I pointed out that I was sharing a suitcase with my brother, so there wasn't room for my purse. He made me take the camera case out. My mom put the camera in her bag. It would not have been a big deal to have the purse in the backseat with me, and the camera bag would have gone in a corner with the rest of my stuff (also, this studio is larger than what we have in Disney) and it wouldn't have been an issue.

I think he also just has it in his head that I'm being ridiculous when I bring my weighted blanket on vacation. I really don't sleep well without the thing, so I always bring it. He's always thought I'm ridiculous, so he was trying to get me to leave that at home, and that wasn't happening.

He also just needed to go on vacation himself. He's been much more pleasant to be around since we got down here.
