Mix it up a little. I had AP economics, AP Spanish, College Algebra, and AP English (although AP English was a joke...I still got a 4 on the exam, though) but then I had journalism, screenwriting, and chorus. It was balanced. I wasn't overly stressed, but the credits I earned from AP classes helped so I was able to skip a semester of college later (I graduated in 3.5 years).

Although I took health the second half of the year and you could tell I had senioritis because I got a B in a really easy class that I should have gotten an A in. I just did not care. We also did microeconomics the first half of senior year and macroeconomics the second half...I got a 5 on microeconomics and a 4 on macroeconomics. It really didn't matter based on how my college did the credit, but you can tell which class I paid more attention to.
It seems like everyone one here is really smart or has kids that are really smart and then there is me. I just don't seem to fit that. I mean I do try but it is sometimes hard for me to stay focused as I get sidetracked into more social things and I know that is my fault. It isn't that I don't try hard, but no matter how hard I try like in the Math and Science I just don't get it. The English and History stuff, I do think I could get A's all the time in and I do get B's all the time in those subjects but I get the lower grades in those subject because I have to spend so much time on homework every night with Math. So my Senior year I don't have to take a Math it would have been either Calculus(No Way) or Business Math. Which is the Math for dummies like me or Seniors who failed a Math earlier. I am also not good at Science and Physics is not something I want to struggle with my Senior year.

Went to Trader Joe's yesterday, so instead we are having chicken quesadillas.

I was pleasantly surprised by my local TJ's. Store was super clean, everyone wore masks, with their noses covered as well! I wasn't surprised that they had it figured out, but they knocked it out of the park. Last time I went to my local regular store (Kroger owned), it started when I walked in. They now have a self serve cart clean. It is a two tier rack, usually used for selling snack type stuff with dispenser boxes of shop towels and 2 spray bottles of some kind of cleaner. So you have to saturate the towel with the spray bottle that every other person that walks in uses. No hand sanitizer any where in the store. People are kind of a nightmare, but I don't fault the store for that, so much. Checkout, I had to tell the cashier I would wait until she cleaned the belt. Yep, got the eye roll, but even if I had been there pre pandemic, I would have waited. Not just water from past groceries, but something milky smeared on there, and just yuck. And they don't clean the keypad between customers automatically. Surprising Target does it better.

I'm afraid you are misunderstanding some of us. Personally, I just barely squeaked by in high school. Believe me my name was never called when the "extra achievement awards" were passed out at graduation.

You are young, and sound quite mature for your age, but, you will be amazed at how much knowledge and "wisdom" that one accumulates as we stumble through life. The key thing is never stop learning. Never stop evaluating your mistakes as well as your accomplishments.

The downside of all that is that by the time you have gotten to all that knowledge and experience, the end is getting closer. I know you are to young to have seen the TV sitcom "Mork and Mindy". Mork was an alleged alien from the planet Ork. In Ork one was born in reverse order and through life went from old to young. Yes, I know a ridiculous concept, but if we were born with all the knowledge that we accumulate in life we would have a much better civilization. Believe me many of us have repeated the statement of "Youth is wasted on the young."

Now I am aware that many people my age are hanging onto reality by a thin strand of yarn. But, I learned a lot from older people around me. The biggest problem now is I am having a much more difficult time even finding someone older then me, much less wiser. 😉👴🤪

Thanks so much. You do sound very wise. Is it wrong for me to want to have fun as a kid and a lot of times make mistakes and fall flat on my face? i think that might be learning too. For example, I was at a party last Fall and there were a few girls Vaping and I was like I am going to try that. I did it a few times and found out I didn't like it and I won't do it again. I'm a kid and I think I will learn from my mistakes a lot of the time. I also learn from what my parents tell me and yeah I do listen to them even though most of the time they don't think I do. I know I will learn lots as I get older and don't get me wrong I love all of the advice and story from you guys on here. It is like have a bunch of moms and dads and big sisters and brothers. :) You are all awesome peeps. I just came on here and I already feel welcomed that is amazing.

Also nope I don't know who Mork and Mindy is.

No, it isn't wrong to take advantage of youth as long as you accept that whatever we do, good or bad, has consequences. It breaks my heart to see or hear about talented young people with what could be a great life ahead, get involved, sometimes voluntarily in drugs and alcohol and either ruined their lives or lost it because some mistakes are not reversible. Dead is the same if one dies at 25 or 105. It is final. Just be smart enough and particularly strong enough to not do things that have been shown to cause nothing but pain and hardship for themselves and others. None of us are immune from the ultimate mistake.

Mork was a character that made Robin Williams famous.

Unfortunately, Math and Science are the most crucial to everyday life and things we rely on and use without even thinking about it throughout our lives. History comes in third followed by basic things like sewing, reading, cooking, cleaning and basic financial knowledge to prevent disaster.
I will be taking Trigonometry this year, but definitely no Calculus my Senior year. If I take a Math my Senior year it will be Business Math. For Science I am not taking Physics in my Senior year. I don't think I am going to take a Science.

I am going to be totally honest with everyone on here, I have drank at parties but not a lot. I am really petite and can't drink that much anyway even though I know I am not suppose to be doing it at all. It is hard because I am at a party with all of my friends and that is what is going on. I will never do any other types of drugs in my life. Never. I will and have never drank and drove or gotten in a car with someone who had been drinking. I will never do that even as an adult. So yeah I have made some stupid decisions but in some cases I do have my head screwed on right.

Mork was Robin Williams? Wow

I'm not super smart, and I don't have any kids that are super smart... I'm just here to chat.

Yeah, I guess since school is such a huge part of my life right now that is what came up in the chat about me. I can definitely chat about more fun things than school though like my obsession with collecting Disney Plushies. :) I have well over 50 of them. I can also talk about my awesome boyfriend all day if ya want, but I think you all would go crazy if I did that. 😂

Hi.. I'm Susan, and I love Orange Bird, citrus swirls, and I noticed the other day I collect eye glasses (zenni.com) and I love to travel. Not just to Disney, but to everywhere!

I'm not great at science either. I understand it, but I never wanted to study it in depth. The better the science teacher I had, the better I did. I had a great biology teacher who is the reason I will never get a tattoo (don't ask) and an amazing chemistry teacher (she was up for Maryland state teacher of the year a few years after I had her; that's how good she was). But my physics teacher wasn't as good and I struggled. You saw my post about how lousy I was at engineering. I would not have passed had I not found a smart partner to help me out; I got As mostly because of him. After junior year, I didn't want to take science. In college, the science I took was the history of disease because it was less science and more history. Then I took Earth and Space science as my lab so I wouldn't have to go to class on Fridays. The space stuff was interesting, but geology isn't a real science. Doing math is my job now, but there's a lot of people here who can tell you about the whining that went on during statistics in college. Accounting and algebra make sense in my brain. Statistics...well, that was partially the professor, but I never got the point. I actually had to get tutoring for that class.

Beyond that, I also can't draw (I got special permission in middle school to double up on music, so sixth grade was my last year of art), and I'm a terrible dancer.

Everyone has different skill sets. Being able to socially interact and having high emotional intelligence is also a good skill to have. Not everyone has that. I don't, which means there are quite a few jobs out there that I might otherwise be qualified for, but don't want to do.

Also, high school matters very little in terms of long-term life goals. I recently found a report card from high school where I got a C on my physics final junior year. I realized that all in all, it didn't matter. It actually didn't matter at the time because my grade for the year was set, so there wasn't a point. My SAT scores no longer matter. That B in health no longer matters. I know it feels like it's the most important thing now, and it should, but some day, it won't matter.
