Ours went over the PA system a few days before:D

As I posted yesterday, the only day I ever skipped school was for that go kart track commercial.
I may have already posted about this quite a while back, but, the craziest end of school day I ever remember was actually my junior year. One of the senior guys (Bill Moore) and his buddies had arranged a last day stunt for him for the class of ‘79.
He ended up riding from the front entrance of the school and through the student center on a Kawasaki dirt bike, in just a jock strap, with a 7 shoe polished on one butt cheek and a 9 on the other...and yes, I was there at the time and witnessed it all, and it was absolutely crazy...!!!!! :hilarious:
He wasn’t allowed to “walk” to get his diploma after that, of course, and, surprisingly, no charges were filed, but, what were they gonna’ do beyond that...??? He was done with HS...!!!!! :D

A few years later, I met his younger sister and we dated for a while. I didn’t even know she was his sis until it came up in conversation at one point...The Infamous Bill Moore...!!!!! :hilarious:

I haven't really followed the facebook group much for that. Do we know when the video will come out?
They said like August? The editing apparently takes a while.

This is my first one outside of World of Color, and that one was 700 people as opposed to 17,000. So I'm really not sure.

They did a mosaic of everyone's photos. Most of the talk has been people finding themselves and "who's my neighbor?" Along with some spam. A fake Portia de Rossi account was the highlight.

The first Divergent is worth reading as a stand alone book IMHO
I didn't read that series as I read a Spoiler of how it ends. :cautious: And I was like, what, why, and then what is the point if so.

Along those lines, the Legend series by Marie Lu is excellent. More girly so James probably wouldn't like it, but I liked the Selection series too. It's like they took the Bachelor and put it in a Dystopian world.

@Letteyeti I went through my Goodreads list because at this point I've read so many books that I forget what I've read. If you're not in the mood for fantasy/dystopian, here's a few picks:

-The Princess Diaries series. Don't expect it to be anything like the movies, because it's not, but my gosh, those books are hilarious. I've revisited them a bunch of times. I think it may be time to revisit them again.
-The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. These books should be required reading for teen girls. I wish I'd discovered them as a teenager; I read them as an adult.
-The Last Song. It came out when I was about your age. It became one of my favorite books then. It's still one of my favorite books.

I have heard of all three of them because of the movies. I absolutely love the traveling pants and I should read the books. The Last Song is a Miley Cyrus movie that I also really enjoyed so I know I would love the book. The Princess Diaries I have seen as well a few times and have never thought to read the books. Thanks for recommending them. I am going to turn into a book worm.

I feel so bad for you, and anyone who lives in a state like this. DeWine is strict, we have many rules, playgrounds are not yet open- but will be soon. Most summer camps are not coming back.
But if you look at traffic and parking lots in shopping areas, you would think that life is back to normal.
We're having issues here with people not following the guidelines anymore, so cases are rising again. We went to the movies last weekend and it was really strict. They ushered people to seats and told us where we had to sit, you could not get up in the middle to go to the bathroom so they asked before we were ushered in if everyone had gone. We had to wait in our seats when it was over and were told when to exit. I hope there was no blurb at the end, because we weren't allowed to stay once the credits started. Then, since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to stop by IKEA on the way home to pick up some meatballs since we're out and haven't been able to get more for months now because IKEA was closed. It opened last month. We didn't even make it to the parking lot. We could see the line was all the way out the door, and halfway to the back of the parking garage. We noped it on out of there. As we were exiting the line of cars waiting to get into the parking garage, they had attendants directing the cars and my husband told the guy we changed our mind, we didn't need meatballs that badly, and the guy told us that he couldn't have let us in anyway because they can't let in cars with more than 2 people. I was amazed there were so many people so determined to go to IKEA that they'd wait in that line.

But going to the grocery store is an exercise in futility. Carts are mandatory, but people will bring the cart in and then park it somewhere and walk around the store without it. They will get up right next to you to get something or to unload their groceries onto the belt at the register. It's just so ridiculous. I HATE grocery shopping right now.

Grocery shopping has been as frustrating here.

Did they extend their passes thru 2021?

I’m so glad that KI is reopening.. but I doubt we’ll go too often this year. There’s many times when we just go for an hour or 2 in the evenings. That will be impossible now with the new reservation system.

I still don’t know what they’re doing about Fast Lane. If queues are already reduced, and ride seating reduced, then how is fast lane going to play into that? I’m hoping we get an email soon.
Over here, there's a big park called Efteling. There was a news story this week because they just opened up, but they are doing a reservation system and they are only allowing a small number of annual passholders to reserve per day, so there were some passholders who got a reservation, but not for the day they wanted. The slots for passholders that day were gone, so they photoshopped the day and time of their reservation. They were caught and kicked out.

Then there were other people, I don't think they were passholders, but they had a booking in one of the hotels on property including tickets and then discovered that their "multiple day tickets" weren't valid for the whole day. They split up the ticketing so you now need separate tickets for the evening. So if you want to go for the whole day, you need 2 tickets. It's a total money grab to make up for the time they were closed. They can't have as many people now, so they just make them pay for two tickets instead so they can have more people per day, just split it into 2 shifts.

Don't you live in Wisconsin? I thought the restaurants were open there.
They've been having to shut some restaurants down here for not following guidelines, but the restaurant owners say it's not their fault, it's the customers because they won't follow the rules. They are supposed to be reservation only and they can only have 30 people maximum, no matter the size of the venue. But I guess people are lining up outside and not observing distance regulations, so then they come and shut the place down to disperse the people.

Since a few of us on this thread have been chatting about this, I have learned a lot and I just want to thank you all for the words of wisdom you all have gave me on this topic. I am only 16 right now and will only be turning 17 in late September. I have 2 years of High School left and even though my first two years seemed to have flown right by, I still think I have time to decide. @Songbird76 you are right it is my decision but I don't want to make my parents mad especially if they are helping me with any of the tuition come that time. I know deep down I would love to teach in a Dance Studio like the one I have learned at all these years since I was little. It would be a job that I would love to get up and do everyday. I am also only 16 and haven't experienced other stuff so there just might be something waiting for me down the road. Who knows.
It's great that you respect your parents, and of course as a minor, you have to follow their rules, etc. BUT, even if your parents pay for your education, you are the one who will be stuck in a job you hate long after they are gone if you choose something you don't want to do to please them. It's all well and good to discuss your options with them, and you absolutely should listen to their point of view and consider their advice. But don't let someone else decide for you as it's not them who will have to live with the consequences.

I'm sure your parents only want the best for you, and of course they have more life experience than you do. They may see pitfalls you don't. But, once you are a legal adult, their role becomes more advisorial rather than being authorities. And consider, too, that it will be harder later if you choose something you really didn't want to do and then end up having to go back to school later because you really can't do it for the rest of your life. I know how hard it is to deal with a parent being angry with you and disappointed in you because you didn't do what they wanted. But forever is a long time to commit to something so that someone else is happy rather than yourself.

That being said, do you need a degree to teach dance like you mentioned? I'm assuming you have trained in dance with a professional dancer if you've been dancing for so long. For a school setting, you would probably need a degree in education, but I wouldn't think you would need a degree to open a studio. If a studio is what you'd be shooting for, you might consider getting a secondary degree to fall back on if the dream doesn't pan out. But, as you said, you're 16 and have time to decide. You don't necessarily need to know right now. Just be smart about it.

I suggest Rosetta stone because what James is taking is pretty intense. He's not only learning how to speak it but also how to write and some history and culture.
Thanks! James is doing his for school credit, right? I think you're right that that's a bit intense for E, at least right now. She's just turned 14 less than a month ago, so this might just be a passing phase. She is trying to learn how to write in it, and she's been watching videos about the kawaii culture for years. When we went into the Japan pavilion last summer, she was explaining all the art to us. So she's been interested in it for a while, but it's mostly just when she has nothing else to do, she'll watch some videos. I think she'd enjoy a more structured class, but not something so intense that she gets stressed if she is short on time.

Yeah, I saw some of the "who's my neighbor?" posts, but my picture wasn't in any of the ones I saw. Not that I was paying close attention though.
