That's a nice benefit for you. :)

(Side note: up here, the State Police have reported an uptick in really bad car crashes, due to some people who think open roads mean driving, like it's the Daytona 500. So just a heads up -- fewer cars out, but they're going faster; and obviously, none of them have a clue how to drive.)
Hey, we have to get our orders delivered on time or it ruins our stats! 😉

Talk to my brother last night, he lives on LI NY and back in March before covid was in the news they went to a funeral (300 people, thinks that is where she got it) long story short his wife (68) got covid . He was telling me she sick as a dog high fever, body aches, dry cough --she tested positive but thankfully has recovered completely, I asked him if he was tested and he said they(NY) would not and just assumed he was asymptomatic. He said 5 people he knows passed away from it. Scary when it is close to home.

Tonight we had a taste of normalcy. The craft beer place by my store has been serving to-go, and they have a few picnic tables outside. Lately, people have been ordering and sitting outside to eat/drink, and not being bothered by anyone. So we went and had a beer and split a flatbread and a sandwich. Weather was gorgeous. Felt almost normal.

Brian had a banana pancake stout (because he knew I would want to try it) and I enjoyed this awesome mango beer:

The can is so pretty. It would make a nice print for the walls in my house. :hilarious: Really thrilled that you will be reopening Monday. And of course jealous of your sunshine and hot weather, and that you can eat at a restaurant.;)

I thought at least @MySmallWorldof4 ‘s hubs might have been at his office a few times, and also @21stamps at hers sometimes also...? :cyclops:
Although, I could be wrong, and it definitely wouldn’t be the first time...!!!!! :hilarious:
Yep, he has been, but only for emergencies, and limited procedures at that. He may reopen completely the first week in June. There are contingencies on that of course. Sadly that was the week our trip was rescheduled for. Have to start bringing in some money.

Well, then there was also the Doors and Janis Joplin in the 60s and...ugh.

There's been some great stuff this century. There's Hamilton, Frozen, Wicked, Hamilton, Lady Gaga, Hamilton, Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Hamilton...
Eye of the beholder. Have you ever really listened to Janis singing "Bobbie McGee"? The emotion, the soul in that voice is not even comparable to any other artist. Not everything she did connected with me, anymore then the Doors or even The Beatles. Revolution #9 being a prime example of nothing is perfect. However, the general body of work throughout that decade has yet to be equaled. Broadway Shows are not part of the discussion. They are not general public music anymore then Disney Animation music is. Lady Gaga has a beautiful voice but if what she is performing is so great what is the meat dress all about. Jonas Bros. Nope! Kelly Clarkson. Nope! What I am saying is that the comparative quantity of good vs. bad in the 60's has now reversed to comparative quantity of bad vs. good. The table has absolutely taken a 180 degree turn in my opinion. But, like I said, every generation has their own genre and tastes in music and never the train shall meet. If you want to include Broadway/ Disney, how about J.C. Superstar or Hair or The Sound of Music or Mary Poppins?

Ok so, now my car is taking me thru North Carolina to get back to Cinci. Whatever, doesn’t look like any crazy mountain roads on the map, so I’m good.

We’re in some little town, don’t know the name, but the people are staggeringly friendly!! We stopped at a roadside antique store, bought a cowbell and garden decoration (T’s choice) and some Amish Butter, fresh baked muffins, and another salsa.

Went to ring up, and apparently it’s cash only., not ATMs around, but I’m told to go to the Dollar General across the street. I’ve never been in a Dollar General store. I decided to grab a small soft cooler for the butter, we didn’t bring a cooler with us. It’s was $22.50. I always thought Dollar stores were all one dollar items. Lol.. but I didn’t really think that cooler would be a dollar.
So we’re in line and the guy in front of us just hands a $1 bill to T, says “buy a piece of candy for you”. T looks at me shocked, looks at the guy, and says “Wow. Thank you.” Looks at me again and said “The mountains really do have the nicest people, this is unreal. “. The man laughed.

We go back to the antique store/ food mart. One of the old men says “I have corn in the boiler for you, can you stay another 10 minutes?” Then the woman (I’m assuming his wife) Comes up to T and says “Here this is for you”. It was a Trump 2020 winter hat, with fur on the inside.

Please Please don’t misconstrue this as a political post..

When we pulled up to the store and got out, T says “Look Mom, a Trump sign! They must be republicans.” Then he sees a 9/11 sign and says “Wow, these are good patriots.”

The people asked him if he was republican, he said “Oh, yes! And I’m a patriot too.” 🤣

After all of that, we then went to a Taco Stand next door. Now at a gas station waiting for T to finish in the restroom, I had to buy ice for the tiny soft sided cooler— realizing that this small stick of Amish Butter has turned into the most expensive butter that I will ever buy 😂.
Prior to going in the restroom, T said “I’ve never seen such happy and nice people. I can’t believe people just wanted to give stuff to me. The mountain air must make people really friendly . “

I want the corn on the cobb!! I can't get good corn on the cobb here, and even the bad stuff is WAY more expensive here than anything in the states. I miss good fresh corn.

I just looked it up, was Murphy. Honestly the nicest people!!! We stopped on the side of the road to rearrange something, the first vehicle/truck that came along stopped to ask if we needed help! Between that and the store people, I’m super impressed. T said “We should move here, but I know you can’t”. I asked him why I couldn’t , he said “I haven’t seen a Starbucks in any of these towns. I don’t think you can live without that.”

🤦‍♀️
Yeah the closest Starbucks would be in Franklin. A 30-45 mt drive.🤣

I think he needs to build an addition on to your house.

With all his completed Lego projects, it may pose a fire hazard if neither one of you can safely navigate a path through the LEGO barricades in the house! :p
I already told him shelves are not going up in our bedroom for these! 🤣 He will have to put them in the room downstairs so he better build some shelves this summer.

Wyoming is like that too. People will stop if they see you stopped on the side of the road to check and make sure nothing's wrong. Because distances are so huge between urban areas, you could be stuck for ages if people didn't stop to help. Very friendly people in most cases.

So, one of my dad's best friends, who helped me immensely with his funeral arrangements and everything, he actually met my dad when he was a kid...he and his dad had arranged to go hunting on a ranch in Wyoming. They had trouble finding the ranch and got lost when my dad and his dad found them and asked if they could help. They explained they were hunters, looking for such and such a ranch, and my grandpa told them he could sure help them get to that ranch, but they were also welcome to come hunt on his ranch, too. From that time on, they always hunted at my dad's ranch. Then when the kid grew up, he moved about 30 miles or so away from my dad's ranch...he fell in love with the area and the people.

It’s homemade. I’ve never had it out anywhere before. We’ve had it for decades. My mom makes it, Carolyn makes it.
There are actually many variations. You can use shredded chicken, ground beef, etc.
Generally Ro-tel tomatoes with green chiles is used, corn tortillas, lots of cheese, condensed milk, enchilada sauce. Some use cream of chicken soup, mushroom soup, etc.
Google is your friend...!!! ;)
Decidedly spicy (to your taste) Tex-Mex, and very YUM-O-LICIOUS...!!!!! :hungry:
hmmmm So I've never had this before... and was looking at recipes, but none of the recipes I saw used condensed milk or enchilada sauce.

Yes, they reported here this morning that the number of traffic accidents has not decreased even though the roads aren't as busy and they think it's because people are being wreckless because there's not as much traffic. I also wonder how many people are driving under the influence of alcohol, thinking they won't get caught because hardly anyone is driving and they think maybe police won't be patroling the roads because they are too busy policing the social distancing, etc? But I have no idea if that's a problem or not.

6 bucks a gallon is cheap---- ouch
When I first moved here, the conversion rate was something like...$1.50= 1 Euro, and our gas prices were so high it worked out to around $9 per gallon, and that was nearly 18 years ago, so $6 is pretty dang cheap in comparison! Germany tends to be a bit cheaper, so if we're traveling, we'll wait to tank up until we cross the border...it's only 20 minutes away. A lot of people in this area actually go to Germany for groceries because everything is cheaper there, but right now, they have their borders closed, so we can't go there for groceries or gas.

There is nothing like silver queen corn can't wait for July when it will be ready to pick. Do they not grow it or is it field corn they sell?
Corn here is considered feed for cattle for the most part. You can't get corn on the cobb in the husk here....it's already taken out and they sell it in a 2 pack. IF the grocery store has it. And it's not the good sweet corn. I just googled it and what they sell here looks like just plain field corn. It's not very sweet. We had some a couple of weeks ago that we couldn't even eat. It was so nasty.

Now you know why they have invested so much in their train systems, which are top notch, and do a lot less highway concerns then we do. My last trip to Europe was at least 1/3rd train travel and I loved it. It was treated like an airport and airplanes except that it was a lot more comfortable in the train car and didn't have any turbulence to deal with. However, as my Grandmother once said... Hey, those trees go by fast, fast. I have fond memories of the old girl, but it was her sense of humor that pulled me in.

Here in the Raleigh area, the number of accidents has declined sharply during the last few weeks. My theory is that everyone around here drive like maniacs anyway, less traffic just means that there are fewer things to run into. Law of averages, I guess.
