Am I the only one who didn’t have an issue buying TP? I’ve gone to Sam’s once to buy a big pack, already had one at home prior to the insane hoarding. Picked up one more last week, first time I actively looked for it, there was plenty available.

Actually, I am FB friends with someone who was shocked that her 19 yr old, suddenly unemployed movie theater kid, was eligible for unemployment. With the extra $600, I am guessing he is probably making more now.

It happens. A person making $10-11 per hour that gets laid off/furloughed is probably collecting $600 stimulus check a week and also $200 per week unemployment.

I have seen some on the store shelves the past week or so. That wasn't the case for the prior 5-6 weeks. I think the panic buying of TP is finally leveling off. (I had to jump through hoops to find some recently, and I went to multiple stores, different days, different times. Yah, it was an issue ... )

I’m having an issue with hand sanitizer and cleaning sprays. Luckily I had some, and I still have plenty of large hand sanitizer bottles at home (I’m a complete psychopath with it during flu season).. but I’m out of smaller bottles and travel size. I took T’s from his soccer bag (again, sanitizing freak and he always has one in his bag), he won’t be needing it any time soon.. but that’s the last one. If I empty the others into the travel size, then I’ll run out of those.

Has anybody seen these? A friend of mine just bought one for their family.. I think it looks kinda cool. Don’t know where I’d hang it now that I had the swing tree taken down, and still waiting for T’s bday present ANW monkey line to come, which will go on two other trees.
I want this, though.

Hand sanitizer -- forget it. NONE in my area for 2 months. (Stores continue to post signs that they put out these items when they can get them in, but unless you're "there" at the exact moment, you won't find it.) Disinfecting wipes are also hard to find, but even those have started to appear this past week, so I got some. There was also a shortage of Clorox (bottle), and I finally found a bottle yesterday.

If you have larger bottles refill the smaller empty bottles until you can get more.

if I remember correctly, a lot of these protections were slowly removed by Jr. Hence why we had the banking crisis on the next president.

Yeah I don't know about Mexican law. Well versed in US economic law. I have to be; it's my job. And also, I like economics.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m seeing here. I’ve refilled T’s little bottle once, and keep a larger one in my car and one in a drawer at work. I have 4 left at home, though not full.. I keep one in the garage for when I arrive home, 1 in the kitchen, and 1 each in two bathrooms. Maybe I’ll see it randomly at a store, hopefully.

Wow. Well hopefully if he’s living at home then he’s using some of that money to chip in!
I think that fed money is going to cause a problem in itself when people are making more by not working than when working.. but I‘ll spare you all my extended opinions on it, in this thread.

Since you initiated this....

Unemployment isn’t an endless flow of money Forever. If your company calls you back and you dont return that terminates your unemployment. The +600 is intended to help maintain car payments, utilities everyday life expenses. Prior to Covid unemployment was next to nothing. It demonstrates how hard working Americans are. It isn’t like the 4.4 million laid off are likely to find work currently.

The Feds when they had a booming economy chose not to raise the Federal minimum wage. It has been 10 years since the last Federal raise. This demographic needs help more than than the demographic projecting the very worst about human beings. Was raised Catholic. Pounded into my head was

Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him. Me they can have the $600

I gotta say, while I miss leaving the house, I have not missed actually physically getting up for work and going into the office. Not at all. Wonder how hard of a time the company will have convincing us to come back to the office...I certainly don't want to.
