I know that personally, I wanted to move south for years. Early on my wife and daughters shot me down on the idea. What? Leave beautiful Vermont where all our friends and relatives lived. What are you crazy. No, no, a thousand times no! So I did nothing for years. When events finally dictated that I was able to make that move (nine years ago) I finally did it. My only regret is that I didn't do it a whole lot sooner. I've loved my time down here and sadly regret wasting all those years unhappy. From someone that knows, life is to short to be miserable for 7 months out of the year.and you don't think I haven't been trying![]()
I am hoping to make some vegetable soup today. We went to Wegman’s before we went to the gym last night because it is only a few minutes from their. I picked up a cup of their veggie soup since I hadn’t eaten. It was dairy free and gluten free. It was so good and it gave me the craving to make my own. Bonus about the new gym, Wegman’s!I'm going to conquer Mount Laundry in peace. I'm letting the guys sleep in this morningTotally selfish on my part! I want to get a few things done and don't want any germs
What goes down will come back up. Don’t worry. Thanks for your wisdom on moving. I hope that once our kids are out of the house we will be able to transfer our lives to a tad bit more south. We will see where life takes us. Lots of ups and downs in this earthly realm.I know that personally, I wanted to move south for years. Early on my wife and daughters shot me down on the idea. What? I know that sometimes life just prevents us from getting to our dreams. But, every opportunity should be explored and pursued. OK, that will be all of my solemn and serious ranting for today unless I completely lose my mind and go to the political thread. It's depressing enough to see my retirement account declining at the speed of light this week.
This isn't meant to be an insult, just a reality check. What someone pays for a bat has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to use it. A $40.00 bat will do just as well as a $700.00 bat if the person swinging it has that skill. Not everyone does. Practice will help, of course, but it is a poor carpenter that blames his tools for a shoddy job. It’s relatively expensive for his age, but it’s not the most expensive. I think they go up to like $700.
Crazy.
His first size bat was around $40, his second one was $150, and then my dad wanted him to have a good bat, so he bought him the other one last year.. he did take him to the store to try it first. I don’t understand why it doesn’t work for him.
Ain't that the truth. Truthfully, if my daughters hadn't all of a sudden decided that the old man was right and moved down here on their own, I might still be sitting in the cold, hating every minute and hoping it all ended soon. That is not the case today. Sometimes you just have to, metaphorically, pull the trigger. What goes down will come back up. Don’t worry. Thanks for your wisdom on moving. You know, I'll bet if you look in the dictionary under the word anomaly, your picture would be featured. You did what was best for you. (You remind me in that sense, of my eldest brother, who moved to N.C. years ago as well.)
But moi? Move to a hotter climate? NEVER!

Pretty much the same as posted last year. Just from a slightly different angle. There are about a dozen flower boxes along one section of the Marina.I was going to say that it looks like a picture he posted last year
Thank you! I am hopeful that it will be a great fit for us.
my kid’s $340 bat

First hand knowledge in this field. I have been playing golf since my youngest child was born some 43 years ago. My first set of clubs was a ancient set that I bought at a yard sale for $25.00. I played terrible with them and gradually over the years bought up until I had a really nice set. I still played terribly. I recently tried a really expensive set (over 2 grand) and the terrible remained. To me it is the current social belief that throwing money at something will improve it. The more one pays for something the better it will be syndrome. Sometimes improvement is possible, but the vast majority of the time it just has no bearing on things at all. And sometimes clever people will take advantage of someones frustration and convince them that paying more will give better results. They get rich while the victim stays frustrated.
Is this a gold bat?
No it’s just a normal bat. In all seriousness, it’s not that uncommon have a price range for kids to have a bat at this price. He’s definitely not the only one on his team who has it, one kid from his team last year had one that was more expensive. Some kids, the ones who are less serious about baseball, they don’t have more expensive equipment because it doesn’t matter to them as much. That’s OK too.
It’s really no different than any other equipment for any other sport. Even running shoes, You can buy a $25 pair of running shoes at target, or someone can buy a $150+ pair of running shoes from Nike or asics, etc. Both shoes to perform the same basic task, but one will be a lot better quality and a lot more comfortable.
I’m frustrated that it is still an expensive item and apparently not “pinging” the ball well, and T is not comfortable with the way it feels when contacts the ball. I don’t fully understand... the trainer said it’s due to the new rules set for baseball where they changed bat regulations (this is a ‘new’ regulation bat)... so let’s say I shell out that much money to replace the gift, and then it still doesn’t feel well to him. There’s no way to practice hitting prior to buying a bat... you would think there would be.
When I buy T’s soccer cleats we go to a soccer store that has a tunnel to kick a ball and juggle so you can feel the contact of foot and ball prior to buying. When I buy running shoes I go to a running store where I can run on the treadmill prior to purchasing.
I wish we had a baseball-specific store where I could get help and ask questions about the USA regulations, and have him do more than just quickly swing a bat. Dicks customer service people are not that helpful when it comes to anything more than answering “where are the x items at?”![]()
So we went to open gym today at the new gym. Youngest was there with 2 other kids from the other gym. They are all in the same age group. They had so much fun. There was also one girl who had been on the senior age group team and one girl who had been an athlete at our old gym last year but transferred to what will be our new gym for the current season. I have known her mom for about 8 years. The young ones tumbled together and then the 5 kids created their own stunt group. It made me so happy to see them working together. What was also nice was an older boy who trains there helped the girls with the stunts and acted like an extra spotter. So the kids all came out happy and we will be signing dd up for classes there starting next week. The coach who had been watching the kids came out to talk to us parents and said the girls worked really nicely in the gym. So while what happened really stunk, things happen for a reason.
The drum spins....the timer works....but after 60 minutes the clothes are wet and cold. Clearly the natural gas is not making its way to the dryer drum and heating the clothes. It came with a 4 foot gas line but the installers said a 5 foot has a line is needed. They used the one from my old Kenmore dryer and said it would work. It doesn't.
