5 kids to teach today. Starting at 5:30. Done at 8. Then I start with my kids. I will need a nap for sure today at some point. Taking youngest to open gym at the facility we are checking out later. Two others are going as well. Another parent and I spoke to the gym owner of the now defunct cheer team and told her all that we knew. She said they were working on a lawsuit. It was fine that they were opening a gym, the issue was how they went about it. Our parent board was actually involved. The coaches asked them to help with planning. Talk about a conflict of interest. No wonder those parents had no interest in keeping the teams together for the rest of the season. The new gym opens April 1 and they needed bodies there to start bringing in income. Such lowlifes. Anyway we must just go forward at this point.

Yes, I've seen that. However, only 6.7% of new cars ordered in the U.S. in 2019 were manual transmission. That's why the price is coming up. Again, it varies from dealer to dealer. I saw a car dealer on TV about 6 months ago, talking about this. Years ago, across the board the manuals were cheaper, but the prices are creeping up. Again, it's no issue to me at all, as I can't drive a manual anyway. 🤷‍♀️

I love driving stick. Save the manuals!

Yea, I’ve replaced heating elements on dryers many times, a relatively easy DYI fix. Could be somethin’ worse though, as it is older...sometimes stuff just wears out...!!! ;):)

Sometimes, too, the electric timer wears out. A few years ago, we got a replacement (refurbished, used) one, and it's been fine. The washing machine was old, and the manufacturer didn't make that specific model part anymore, so that's why we had to find a used one (that worked). ;)

Can Hubby not take you out between proper lessons say to an empy carpark and you just practice the gear change side of things without having to worry about traffic. Might help it become more second nature so you can concentrate more on the cyclists and signs etc without having to think about clutch control etc on your lessons .
We did that once before I had my first lesson. Should probably do it a couple more times. I keep putting it into 5th when I mean to put it in 3rd. I don't have the feel for it yet.

Wow. Hoping for all this to turn out well for your daughter. Let's hope the past remains in the past. As you said, the best thing is to move forward now. :)

You'll get there. Just keep practicing and when you make a mistake, don't be too hard on yourself. Not everyone can be a "natural" when learning a new skill. Some people have to just work harder at it, that's all. I have faith you will eventually conquer this.

Find another instructor.
It won't do any good. That's just the way they drive here. I asked my husband about it and he said it has something to do with energy efficiency, because you lose momentum when you brake. Well duh, that's the point. But he said the same thing as the instructor...you aren't supposed to brake if you don't HAVE to. And one of my coworkers failed her driving test because the examinor told her to overtake a semi right before her exit and she didn't think she had enough time, because you can't go over the speed limit to pass. So she failed. They expect you not to be "too cautious". Like I said, counter intuitive.

Wow! Maybe they should just stick to bicycles in the Netherlands. Sounds like some very uncommon sense.

So is it for sure not going through, even for the few families who wanted to stay to the end of the season? I don't understand how those parents could do that...I mean, it's bad enough that they did what they did in the first place, but to ruin it for everyone else's kids...why, just out of spite?

Yeah, I mean....I knew my MIL and my husband both drive pretty...what's the word...not really aggressively like road rage, but more offensively than defensively, I guess. And there are places where it scares me to ride a bike because people aren't very cautious here. But I didn't realize it was the way they TEACH you to drive here. My mom actually taught me once that if someone was following too close behind me, I should turn on my headlights, because it also turns on the tail lights and can fool an idiot into thinking you hit the breaks and they'll back off. That kind of move would make you fail a driver's test here because they think hitting the brakes will cause an accident, so if you fool someone into hitting their brakes, you've messed up the flow of traffic an might cause an accident. -I- personally think it's their own fault for following too closely. I am not forcing them to tail me. I can't control what they do, so if they aren't driving safely and they don't have enough time to stop, that's not my fault. But that's not how it works here. When I saw the lady die in 2017, she was on a bike and turned right in front of a car...even though the car was where it was supposed to be and the lady turned in front of it, it was considered the driver's fault. It's ALWAYS the driver's fault if they hit a cyclist, even if it was the cyclist not following the rules. You'd think that would make people more cautious, but it really doesn't seem to.

Looks like luck may have run out on the second UK order. Tracking shows it's held up, needing some kind of identification for clearance. (Of course, the other package sailed right through with no such issue.) Assuming I can get in touch with them first thing in the morning, I don't see how the package still arrives Friday, which would put it in limbo for the weekend (busiest shopping time.)

I've notified the shipper, maybe they can help resolve it. I remember my rep saying he wakes up around 4AM every day, and it's about that time there now.

I should know by now to listen to my gut, never take chances with a Friday delivery, just go get the stuff from my local distributor (as much as they have on hand, at least.)

Fingers crossed, but...meh.

Hmm...had a missed call from Philly around 9PM, google search suggests it may be UPS. Going to try calling it back now.
