On the subject of weddings.....when my sister got married I was in college. At the time my mom offered me money now for college or I could save the money for my wedding. She made it clear that it was a set amount and it wouldn't be enough money to cover the full cost of either. But being a poor college student I took the money then, it made it so I only had to work during longer school breaks and not during the school semesters. I still had to take out student loans but I paid them off within a couple years of graduating.

When I finally did get married my husband and I paid the bulk of the cost (his mom paid for the typical groom stuff). But because I took the college money and I had paid off my loans I had a nice amount in savings. Hubs and I had a frugal but very nice wedding, with chicken as our only meal option too @Goofyernmost . My sister was able to even find us a budget photographer. The one she found was just starting out and only charged $400 for the day with complete access to all photos digitally. The other photographer was going to charge $1500 with no digital rights. We had a dance too but instead of hiring a band or a DJ we made our own cd's and rented a sound system for less than $100. By being frugal we were able to have a great honeymoon at WDW and spend our $$ on starting our marriage out right. A wedding is only one day the $$ is better invested in something like the honeymoon. But that's my two cents.

A very good 2 cents, and worth way more than that...!!! :)

As I’ve posted before (but, there are newer members here), our wedding was somewhere in between. Carolyn’s mother paid for her dress. And that was a whole other story, as the owner of the original, popular, dress shop skipped town with a bunch of money and dresses. They actually found another dress Carolyn liked more, for less money, at another shop in plenty of time.
My folks paid for the catered BBQ meal :hungry:, Carolyn’s favorite aunt made both cakes (that were absolutely stunning), and her grandfather on her pops side gifted us $1,000. We paid for the the band (at a discount, from my moms hometown of Shiner, Texas ;)), and the rest, which amounted to about $5,000.
About 250 Guests were invited and about 225 showed up. It was an AWESOME day and night...!!!!!!! :joyfull::inlove::happy:

I would check POP. It is literally a short walk over the lake.

Our group of 13 stayed in two Cars family suites at AoA in July of 2012, shortly after that section opened. We absolutely loved it....!!!!! :inlove:
We payed less than $200 a night back then.
But, it is now so ridiculously overpriced, that there is no way we would ever do it again. What a joke.
I don’t care what age your kiddos are, your gettin’ so financially screwed it’s ridiculous...of course, if money isn’t an issue, then I can see that.

MR. PEANUT HAS BEEN REBORN!!!!!

I'm totally not sure what the hoopla over that commercial was about. I'm not going out to buy more peanuts because of the ad.

I went home before halftime so I saw the last song of the show but give me Shakira over Jen Lopez any day.

While I don't like football and the Super Bowl, it is sad that sporting events are being political.

Enough with the Kobe Bryant stuff.

New refillable mugs review

IMG_1135.jpg

The two designs pictures are the ones currently available. They are $29.99. That's $10 more than the regular ones. DDP holders can upgrade for $10. If you have DDP, it's a bargain. I decided to get one because my mom told me about it before I got here, and I always get a refillable mug. I liked the design, so for $10 more, I thought it would be a nice souvenir.

The new cups are made of metal, not plastic. They're significantly heftier than the plastic ones and have a sturdier feel. Drinks stay colder/hotter longer. They also weigh down my bag more than the other ones, and they don't have handles, so if you've got lots of people in your party, they can't carry more of these.

The lids are not leak proof, though they don't leak as badly as the plastic ones. I've thrown mine in my bag without rinsing them out and it hasn't leaked.

One big thing is the pattern. The plastic ones get scratched and the patterns fade. I can tell this won't happen on this cup. Once I get home, this one will last.

Bottom line: if you like the design and want it as a souvenir, go ahead and upgrade. If you just want your refillable mug for your vacation, stick with the plastic. I got it for this trip, but unless they come out with another one I really, really like, I'll go back to plastic next time.
