So no travel issues yesterday. My driveway was worse than the highways. It was all iced over. Dd’s team got first, but again they were the only team in their division. It wasn’t a perfect routine though cause one girl came down in a stunt so they got a deduction. But they still scored over a 96, which was their highest score of the season. But oh my gosh, such high drama at the gym. I found out yesterday. The gym dd goes to is just not for cheer, but it also is a gymnastics gym, and they have regular classes for kids who just want to take gymnastics classes, and ninja type classes. Apparently some coaches were not happy that they had to share floor space with some of the other programs, and they have been comparing out our gym does with what other “just cheer” gyms do. Our program director is fantastic and has the kids as priority one. She also doesn’t like all the glitzy make-up and stuff other gyms have their kids put on, and also no crazy hair, and no crop top uniforms either. She wants the girls to be considered athletes and not beauty pageant kids. So, 3 coaches went behind everyone’s back and got together with a big cheer gym franchise and are going to be opening one of those in our area fir the next season. The horrible part is they have been recruiting kids in the current program, and they will be leaving. To be honest, those families are all the ones in this clique that I cannot stand. I say good riddance to them. Two of the coaches were in the dark as were most of us parents. The only way the gym owner found out is that these mutinous coaches asked the wrong parent about joining their new program. She contacted one of my friends, and this friend contacted the gym owner. The friend I drive with to and from competitions works their front office so she told me everything in confidence. They have some coaches in the wings and I think they are trying to get their ducks in a row before they have a parent meeting. If they get coaches to cover the rest of the season, they will let these coaches go. After they have a parent meeting they will give the parents leaving a 24 hour notice to have their decision as to whether they will cone back next year. I said they should have early tryouts this year, so they can see how many kids they would potentially have for next year. These coaches and parents think the program at dd’s gym will fold because they will be leaving. A new parent who joined her daughter this year, told us she was told that there would be no program next year. So apparently this has been in the works for awhile. Oh, and there is one other cheer gym in our area. Their owner has no idea, maybe she does now though, that some of her coaches are in on it and will be leaving that program and taking some families. That one is a small gym and it just has a team, so that is a potential problem for her. I told my friend they should have new coaches sign non-competes. Can’t trust anybody nowadays. Yeesh, this was a long post. Sorry, just needed to get this off my cheat.

Blurg! Parents are crazy. My kids were swimmers and the same thing...one of clients actually was trying to suck me into a new swimming team despite both of my kids working back then for the park district, like that would have gone over well for them. Don't care what sport, band etc there are crazy overly involved parents unlike the ones that just volunteer their time to actually help.

Non-competes while legal in some state are incredibly hard to enforce in situations like these. Is their team/parents going to hire a lawyer and drag it out in court?? Given the hourly rate of attorneys and court time is someone will to financially back this avenue and willing to wait out the continued hearings and humongous next court date is....
Powerful firms and professionals have a hard time with non-compete rules and right to work, I wonder how many parents are in it for the long haul or the gyms financial ability to sustain long process in court.

Just thinking out loud, I understand from personal experience the aggravation of children in activities when parents go sideways.

It also makes it a lot heavier to lift... so... choose your poison. It actually was full out raining awhile ago... and left all the residual I didn't get up off the driveway as slush... so I went back out and push the slush off the drive so that it doesn't refreeze and turn into a skating rink.

We did rain, snow, ice, snow and ice pellets before it left. Hasn't gone above freezing. Now the snow has an ice glaze on it that is actually reflecting the street light on the snow itself.
I'm not a fan of snow but this snow-ice thing has zero rewards.

Well, my laptop has been off for more than 3 days.

By midweek of the staycation, I really took to not doing any work!

I took it easy on Sunday & Monday, too (effectively extending the staycation 🤣)

An I’m reclaiming my mandatory Tuesdays off and Sundays mostly off going forward (except today.)

Today I’m at quest for my annual bloodwork. Now, if I recall, last time I did this, I was posting here and my arrival time strategy paid off. (Get here before opening, I was 2nd in line.)

This time, I arrived at 5:45AM and didn’t see anyone standing outside. I sat in my car with the heat on for a few minutes until another car pulled up. I started to walk towards the door and realized there were people already inside! What the heck? Twelve people, all checked in and waiting. I almost turned around and walked out. I’m giving them until close to 6:30 before I do.

Current mood: annoyed and sleepy.

With the exception of this morning (so far), your staycation seems to be going along as planned. :)

Now, as for your bloodwork lab, that's a surprise that they let the people in early to register. Maybe this is some new policy for 2020, perhaps? O.k. So next time, get there early (as you always do from what you told us), and just barge in the front door and say, "I'm here, peeps!" ;)

Hope you don't have to wait too long to get seen this morning. Maybe take a little nap in the waiting room.

@MinnieM123 , I just took the garbage out and brrr...it is 29 degrees out. You would like it!😉😁 and....it was good chatting with you today on the Political Forum. Are you over there often?

It's 16 this morning and glorious outside! My kind of weather! As for politics and other issues, that's always been a deep interest of mine down through the years, so I do frequent the thread. Convos from various participants run the gamut from intense to lesser intense, so I participate (cherry pick) where it's appropriate for me.

Mr Ferret 75

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

8° here (in proper temps😉)
Beautiful in the sun but a bit nippy in the shade.
