Good thing we already had school off today, it would have been a snow day. Overnight we got about 9 inches (maybe 1 more) of snow. Hubs and I got up and did the heavy duty shoveling after we heard the snow plow come by at about 5:30 am. And we shoveled the back yard for the dogs, we are currently dog sitting my sister's 4 dogs. It is a heavy snow too, good for snowballs and snowmen. B and I might have thrown a few snowballs at each other. And I jumped in the pile of snow at the end.

Hopefully the roads clear up by the evening though we are supposed to go to the Nutcracker tonight.
How does Kapono like her visitors? Sympathies on the snow. At least you didn't lose a snow day.

T is up at the neighbor’s basketball court shooting and getting some help from him.

There’s only 6 kids on T’s team this year, by accident, 1 quit preseason, another one broke a limb the day before the first practice, out the rest of the year.

He had his first game a few days ago. T received 4 minutes playing time in the beginning of the game, sat on the bench by himself for the rest. He’s the weakest player on a team made of kids who have been playing basketball for years, year round for the past 2-3.

He’s put in a lot of work the past few days, dribbling in the basement.. shooting and practicing layups up at the hoop... watching basketball on tv (something we never do) and talking about the plays/positions with me.

He has practice at 10am this morning. I hope his coach notices the work, and I’m praying that T gets some more playing time this weekend. Basketball isn’t a passion of his, he just wants to play for fun with his classmates, and he just wants to learn the game. 4 basketball games this weekend, a possible 5th if they advance to the finals.. it will be miserable if spent on the bench.
Good for T for wanting to improve his skills. He shows a great work ethic. This is very admirable in a young child.

They are letting us out of work early today! Woohoo! :joyfull:Excited that I won't have to deal with my blood relatives and their stupid drama (a little sad, but more so relieved than anything), excited that I get to leave work early today, so excited for my hubs and him getting his PE and CXA for Engineering, and also quite excited that I am going to get my next big tattoo done after work. That's right! Right before the family comes over this week, I am getting a big tattoo done. :D So happy! Actually, I am so thankful for all of this, no drama, leaving work, new tattoo, hubs getting his licenses...I got a lot to be thankful for. 😍
Congratulations to your dh! My ds currently wants to become a mechanical engineer. He is only 16 so we will see where that goes. What kind of engineer is your dh?
Sounds like you are going through some positive times. Glad for you.

He got his masters in Mechanical Engineering and works for a company here in our city. Recently there have been little hints from the higher ups of the company that he might be moving to a higher position (possibly a business partner?...fingers crossed). The dude is already managing people, and he is only 30!

Yes, I thought about that , but was just comparing shopping experience. What I do see at Walmart is a company that employs the otherwise corporately unemployable. I have been shopping at Walmart for 6 years now and many, many of the employees have been there that entire time. I've seen none of them slacking off, but in the corporate world would not have been given a chance at all.

That doesn't in anyway mean that I am not concerned about wages and working conditions, but I have never seen any evidence that they are not all treated well or, if problems exist it doesn't mean that it is all the companies fault. Everything I have ever read about the terrible things about Walmart are not much different then any other company. The indication that the stores are dirty and unkempt has not shown itself around here. This is no lie you can very close to see yourself in the shiny reflection of the floors. Not the best thing for skirt wearers.
The one by me is kept well also. I was just there about 2 hours ago. Had to get some items for tomorrow that I had forgotten about. I was amazed at how stacked all the produce shelves were, including the organic. It had everything I needed. The lady who checked me out was smiling. It was busy so I joked around with her. "It seems kind of slow today." She laughed. She said it had been really busy. The only thing she complained about was that they were open all day tomorrow. I said that was a shame. She said, "That's retail."

The biggest problem is that he doesn’t understand the plays. Today was their 3rd practice, they only do one hour a week (which is crazy).. and like I said, the bulk of the team plays year round with 3 of the boys playing AAU (select basketball). They already know the names and configurations of play calling. T doesn’t. So when the coach is yelling for a certain formation, he doesn’t really know what to do.

I’ve emailed the coach and asked if he could send me a description and I’ll work with T before the games this weekend.

A turns 5 years old in 90 days. That's insane to me that my little nugget will be a half-decade old. This also means only 30 more days until fastpass day! She's going to hit that magical milestone in the Magic Kingdom!

She’ll love it!

I’m still wondering where the tjme went and how T’s 10th birthday is not too far away. I can’t even believe it. He will be at Disney too, I’m still debating flying in to surprise him. I don’t think I can let that pass without me.

Kapono puts up with the visitors. She doesn't like that they take our attention or her spots. She is kind to them though, it helps that she hangs out at their house while we are on vacations. Brad and I on the other hand have had enough of them. Two of the dogs are elderly and tend to poo and pee, the other two are younger and have had some accidents too. So when we aren't home they all stay in the kitchen (except Kapono); there hasn't been a day that they haven't left us some sort of gift in the kitchen. The older ones have special medical needs and need certain meds at certain times. The oldest dog is almost 90% blind and deaf and has trouble walking. He also gets lost and ends up in the Christmas trees. He also gets lost in the yard when he goes outside, so it is good that our yard is fenced in. He got lost in a snow drift today and was crying it was very pathetic, I felt so bad for him. They are leaving on Saturday if the weather holds out so my sister can pick them up on their drive back from Florida.

That is really sad.
