Good grief...!!! :greedy:
Dear Lord, no. Thus, the rub...
For 600K in Travis County (Austin proper) it would be about $2,200/yr.
In Williamson County (far northwest Austin where we live) the rate’s a bit higher, so it would be about $2,750/yr.
I sure hope they’re gettin’ their money’s worth for all that.
WOOF...!!! :cyclops:;):)
Money’s worth? I personally don’t think so.

No and I am not passing out candy either.

I do know a good place in Wisconsin for trick or treating early. On October 11th, Bay Beach Amusement Park located in Green Bay is going to have an event called Boo Beach on October 11th and October 12th with it being the final days open for the year due to how cold it can be in some parts of Wisconsin. What I know Treats are going to be handled out located by the rides on October 12th and will be having a movie also with people encouraged to wear costumes. October 11th is their throwback day with ride tickets only cost 10 cents. a ticket.

I am not forward to Halloween and I am not passing out Candy for a reason. Keep in mind I do not live in Green Bay.

I hope the neighborhood is not doing what they did last year. The neighborhood had back to back days of Trick or treating last year with one of them being at night. This is a neighborhood that traditionally gets anywhere from 700 to a 1,000 days for 1 day of trick or treating. My problems is stuff like Dog owners dressing up their dogs for Trick or Treating and wanting the dogs to have chocolate candy:facepalm:, Parents and kids trying to damage Inflatable Mickey Mouse pumpkin, Kids demanding what treats they want, people trying to take pictures inside where I live during trick or treating, little kids trying to sneak into home where I live during trick or treating, and illegal parking by parking middle of the road with street blocked.

I loved trick or treating as a kid, but it was a different era compare to now. People did not trying to damage Halloween decorations during Trick or treating hours in my time as a kid. Kids did not dare demand what candy they should be given either with my parents encouraging my younger brother and I to thank you after getting the treat. There was no illegal parking during Trick or treating either.

I am mentioning illegal parking because that is what happen last year with parents or the adult that dove the vehicle with them being parked middle of the street despite parking spaces were still open with the adults getting out of the vehicles with the kids they drove. That illegal parking caused Amazon problems also for delivering packages.
I dislike Halloween passionately too. I don't like the holiday anyway (I actually have a planned work from home day because my workplace is really into it and I just have no desire to participate) but the older I get, the more I dislike it.

One of my friends actually had to come stay with me for a few days over Halloween a few years ago. Where she was living at the time, kids will come and vandalize cars and houses. She was in an apartment, but we didn't want her car vandalized. There's no trick or treating on my street, so we hung out and watched movies.

You can rent a closet for about 1500 a month and if you're really lucky they'll throw in a parking space for only 250

I remember back in ‘87 when my buddy was workin’ for IBM in Manhattan and livin’ there too. DWifey and I were engaged at the time when we went to visit.
He and two of his coworkers were livin’ in a third floor walk up at 75th and Amsterdam.
Renovations were headin’ uptown at the time, but, they were about 3 blocks north of those.
He told us to just ignore the guy by the front stoop sellin’ crack...!!!!! :hilarious:
The place wasn’t a dump, but, it was somethin’ I wasn’t familiar with.
A tiny kitchen, one tiny bath, one tiny living area, one actual (yes, tiny ;)) bedroom, one storage room with a window and one storage room with no window.
For this they were payin’ $1,800 a month...in 1987...he volunteered the info, and we tried to keep our jaws from dropping... :cyclops: ;)
one of the guys payed extra for the bedroom, the other slept on a foldout couch/sofa in the living area, and my buddy slept in the storage room without a window. He payed the lowest rent.
I had no clue why my buddy would choose a tiny storage room with no window to sleep in...until later that night. DWifey and I slept on a blowup mattress in the storage room with the window. With the noise comin’ off the streets through that window for what seemed like all night, we mighta’ got about 3 hours of sleep each...!!!!! :hilarious:
Regardless, it was an awesome trip...!!!!!

As a juxtaposition...
An apartment myself and that same buddy lived in while he was going to The University of Texas from ‘80-‘84 for the last 2 years he was here cost us $250/mo. ($125 each) in rent during the school year, and $225 total during the summer, and it was about 100 sq. ft. larger than the Manhattan walk up...!!!!! :hilarious:
So, what you’re sayin’ is, these days, for that same $250 a month I can rent a parking space to sleep in on “LongIlandt”...??? :cyclops:
I’m too old for this... 🍕
Yes, pizza is what I meant...!!!!! :angelic::D:hilarious:;)

Oh yeah. She paid 600k for a 2500 square foot colonial on a 50 x 100 lot. It was also 50 years old and needed reno. The taxes are at least 10-15k a year. Where my stepdad’s friend lives the taxes on his ranch house (about 1500 square feet) is 20k. Too expensive to live out there.

Here the taxes vary greatly by county and municipality. My Moms annual property tax is just over 20k, my house was similar in square footage but my lot was wider and much deeper than hers is. My Taxes were about $6K. I've been trying to get my Mom to sell her house, it is too much for her, a new or newer condo would be perfect for her at 84. She claims she can't afford the homeowners monthly. Me, but you won't be paying 20K+ in property taxes or for landscapers nor snow removal, guys to wash windows and clean gutters.

Oh, let me guess . . . when they put Target in the Disney parks, the "themed" items will be out front and center! :p

When I stayed at Flamingo Crossings out on Disney's Western Way last year I went to a Target near Kissimmee it was a mega super Target with two major entry doors. Up front by one set of the doors was the 'Disney Department.' In size about equal to Women's Dept., shoe and lingerie dept square footage, massive, never seen anything like it. Any type of clothing, swim wear, shoes, household, coats for Disney was in the huge Department of Target. It was like a mini World of Disney.

The Target that is being built on Disney property is actually going out on the far edge of Disney Property just past the Coronado Resort. The 2 Marriotts I stayed at are being joined by 3 more currently being built, that are all suites. I had a full sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave. (the refrigerator and micro got used) Currently there is NOTHING around there but fields and the 2 Marriotts. It is a perfect place for a Target. A new Disney College Program housing complex is also being built across the street, it too will be massive. A gas station is also being built and rumors of a Walgreens and 2 moderate type branded type restaurants.

This was always the master plan for Flamingo Crossing of 10-15 years ago that got thwarted by the recession. All the streets, curbs and landscaping, stop lights, crosswalks etc were already in place prior to the recession. It was like a ghost town looking out my hotel window but construction was already happening last April on all 4 corners and intersection of Flamingo Way/Western Way. From what I saw in the month I was there was few like me. Mainly groups heading to Disney for all sorts of competitions from Band to Sports, they even had Sports Cages for soccer and baseball practices and the hotel had an extensive hot breakfast for free. My gut says it is the High School student groups they are really marketing to vs family vacations to Disney. As a visual it is almost polar opposite boundary to Disney Springs but rests very close to the Magic Kingdom.

All the streets and curbs are in, even the drive entry ways and landscaping is set and now mature. In the last year If you continue down Flamingo Crossing Blvd they have put in new homes and townhomes over the last 2 years, it is maybe 2 miles out into the middle of nowhere. I drove through field area after field area seeing nothing but barren land until I finally found the townhomes. I'd expect it all to be built up between the housing area and Flamingo over the next 5 years or so. I was just surprised there was so much open land surrounding the Western End of Disney property.

My Hotel Bus took a left off of Western Way and went back through the backstage area and backstage Reedy Creek right to the TTC. I rather enjoyed seeing the backstage area a few times.

I can’t believe how many people are out and about so early!

Woke up at 4:30 just because. Quest Diagnostics opens at 6am, so I arrived at 5:45. One guy was standing outside already. I stayed in my car until a third guy started walking up, so I beat him to the front door lol. By the time they opened, over a dozen people were here. I had flashbacks to rope dropping AK.

Waiting to get poked. 🤣

You know, you can make an appointment at Quest. You would then have priority over anyone who came before you without an appointment. They have an obligation to take you first. That is what we do when we need lab work. Hope yours comes out well.
