Busy day ahead...
Decided to unfollow a customer/acquaintance on fb. He had been posting crazy stuff lately, and I mean crazy - to the point I got advice from a social worker just in case. I had not been engaging with this person at all, except that he put all his records up for sale, and I offered to take a look at them. He also admitted privately that he was back on drugs again. I recommended a place to go for counseling on a sliding scale. In the last week, he lost his bf, his job, and is getting evicted - while asking people on fb for money. It was not pretty.
But last night, he came right out and said what he'd been hinting at: Goodbye all, life isn't worth it. I contacted a few people I knew to be mutual friends, nobody could help. I don't think I could have called for a wellness check, because I don't know where he lives. I reported the post to facebook (there is a self-injury/suicide option, believe it or not) and I posted on his post: "If any of you guys know his address, please call the police and ask for a wellness check.") I also private messaged him, and he responded a little while later to say he was fine.
Later, he posted, "I don't need a wellness check, I need a friend by my side."
I don't need this kind of drama, and I can't feel responsible for not being able to do anything when he does this again, so I unfollowed him.
Side note: looks like another hurricane heading our way.
Good stuff: a local distributor is bringing some of the record labels to my new store location today and then taking us for drinks at the craft beer neighbor's place. Tomorrow we have meetings all day (we'll get a lot of sneak previews of albums/movies coming out in Q4.)
Currently on TCM DVR while I frantically finish up my orders: Du Barry Was A Lady - starring Gene Kelly, Lucille ball, and Red Skelton.
