The Apprentice 2

I'm really hating this season right now. They are firing all the wrong people. Ivanna should have been fired last week for taking advantage of Bradford's word on giving his exemption up. Yeah it was wrong of him, but don't take advantage of him. She should've gone as everything was her fault, and a lot of it was hers this week too as she was in charge of the budget. I also don't care for the woman with all the guys. The girls all played and used Stacy J as I don't think she's what everyone said she was. I didn't have a problem with her honestly. I just hope Ivanna goes soon. I, too, like the bowtie man (can't think of his name right now) and the Chicagoan (Kevin I believe).

Stacy was on The Today Show this morning. I didn't get to watch it, but my father said that according to Stacy, all of the contestants had to undergo a psychological evaluation prior to being cast. So, if this is true, then how come these psychology professionals missed her insanity and yet 8 women, untrained in such a field who just happen to be competing against her for a job with Trump, did? :drevil:

Don, I agree. Trump seems like he's being "TRUMP" for the cameras. And what is with all this fanfare music when he enters? I was cracking up last night when he came down the escelator and they played that. Who is he? Donald Trump or Julius Ceasar?

LMAO:  Last week too! I thought the same thing...he comes down the escalator like he's the second coming of Christ descending from the clouds. The music is perfect for Spartacus!

If Trump is trying to generate ratings by manufacturing controversial firings, he's going to lose his audience quickly cuz I think that most people who watch this show are rather intelligent and fair-minded.

I agree!

The beauty of this show was that the prize does go to the most deserving person. The winner of Survivor is not the one who would actually "survive" but rather someone quite opposite! When you allow fellow contestants to vote out, it's personal and strategic. When you allow an impartial judge to eliminate (Apprentice and the BEST reality show Amazing Race on CBS) the strongest person/team is the winner.\

The past two boardrooms featured the weakest players being allowed back into the game. That's a shame.

And, yes Wckd Queen, ALL contestants on any type of reality show have psychological cousneling built into the resume in a whole other interviewing process. Thanks for posting your thoughts, I agree, and I like the TV you like!!

Definitely, Tramp. I look at it from two sides. Since I am a business person myself, I like to see the innovative ideas that the contestants come up with to perform the tasks (which, in my experiences, is something you rarely get to do!) I also like to see Trumps critiques. As Troy said on Leno last season, we only see a small part of the "two hour browbeating" that the boardroom actually is. As a viewer, I enjoy the whole dynamics of the game. But, a stunt like last nights boardroom sorely disappointed me. If the two girls in the boardroom felt Stacy was unstable, I think that Trump should have spoken with Stacy one on one, and perhaps review the tapes of the whole "Magic 8 Ball" incident. Not parade in all of the other contestants for a Lets Bash Stacy party. I just felt the whole situation was highly unprofessional and made to suit for ratings.

Did you look close to see if you were in last night's episode? Did you know they were doing that for the Apprentice or wasn't that apparent? I've been curious to know if these people make it obvious that they are doing something as part of the show.
I looked, but no...we weren't on the episode. Anyway, when we bought the Gelato, the camera people were taking a break! We knew there was a taping because they were being very loud about selling the product. Also, we saw George standing by the TGIFridays in Time Square.

epcotfan, the gelato was good. We had the red velvet flavor...so it was interesting, wouldn't have guessed what the flavor was though from the taste. My mom remembered the the other teams flavor was a dougnut flavor...but I didn't!

 We always seem to be on the same wavelength with these reality shows, Don. I don't know if thats a good thing or if we both are just watching too much tv  :D

I didn't mind last night's firing. I think Trump is looking more cumulatively this year, rather than just examining the last task. To me, it was clear Stacey J was never going to win this thing anyway, so even if she wasn't the worst performer on the last task, she was going to go eventually.

With Stacey J gone, it should be fun watching the women's team. Unlike Survivor, these contestants can't blame their nastiness on malnutrition and sleep deprivation. I only hope we reach the point (and I think it's very possible) where a team member actively and purposefully sabotages a task. I'm not just saying that because I miss The Mole. It's a rotten thing to do to another contestant, but it makes for great television!

"This is easy, you're FIRED!"

Something tells me that Trump would love to fire every one of the women.

The women's team seems to be making a lot of mistakes. I question my own use of the word "team" in the previous sentence, because they don't resemble anything I would normally describe in that way. A group of marginal performers quick to point out each other's faults might be a longer, but more apt description of them.

I can't understand why Jen kept interrupting Trump, Carolyn, and Bill. Does she have no sense of protocol whatsoever? The editing telegraphed her firing the entire show. The story of her downfall was compelling enough that the editors did not try to hide or mislead the viewers as to the final outcome.

The previews for next week showed Pamela coming back to Apex. I doubt she will change the basic dynamic of that group. If anything, she may make them more dysfunctional. If that's possible.

Apparently, Jen may lose her regular job because of the 'jewish' remarks about the two old ladies in the restaurant. Some are interpreting them as racist even though she's half jewish. I think that's carrying it a little too far.

...and Pam...I bet she'd hate to leave the guys and go into that hornet's nest! :lookaroun

There was a news story this week that wagering on the winner has been suspended because a disproportionate number of bets were placed on one (unnamed) contestant. The last time that happened, during a Survivor season, the person all the bets were being placed on was the winner, suggesting a breach of confidentiality.

Maybe the Donald was wagering on the winner in order to save his casino! j/k

The walking cane man is starting to grow on me, a bit. I wouldn't bet on him to win though (even if I could make the bet!)

I wouldn't blame her! The guys handle things with some humor at least. Those women are just vipers. It wouldn't be so bad if they had the talent to back up the attitudes, but so far, I haven't really seen any coming thru :hammer:

Pam's my favorite girl, but that's because she is, in essence, a "man" and doing things the proper way, as opposed to backstabbing and not getting along.

In the first episode, remember she was mentioned to be physically similar to Cruella.

I hope she whips those girls into shape, but she may fall into the downward spiral as well, into a vapid hole.

I dont know if it's so much that shes a 'man' as it is shes a professional. At least up to this point. Let's not forget that the guys were complaining that she was acting like she was on tour at "Disneyland" in the Gelato factory

I think Jen kinda deserved to be fired, after she based the decision of who to bring to the board room off of friendship. Did you know she's from a couple of towns over from where I live now?

I wasn't too upset that Pamela got fired, but I disagree with Trump's rationale. He said that she was a poor judge of talent. First off, there's very little talent on that team to judge. Second of all, she asked them what their strengths were and assigned tasks accordingly. Thirdly, when Maria was not performing well, Pamela shifted some of Maria's responsibilities to Jen.

So, I thought she judged her talent fine. I also liked the way she forced everyone to listen when someone else in the group was talking. I wasn't bothered by her autocratic management style. Given the circumstances (several losses in a row, an underperforming team, no team spirit), the autocratic style was a legitimate option.

The best rationale for her firing was what Carolyn said - she should have priced the items lower. It was a yooooge mistake on Pamela's part. Now if it were me sitting in the Trumpster's chair, I would've canned Stacy. In addition to constantly sniping and trying to undermine the Project Managers, she has never contributed anything of substance to any of the tasks. Ditto for Ivana and Maria.

Mark Burnett certainly didn't look for the "best and brightest" when he cast this show!

Oh my gosh how I SO agree with you! Those women do NOT want to take direction from ANYONE, regardless of who it is! :fork: That's not a very good quality for a business person. And that little Stacy! What a BAD attitude! I cannot see someone with her bad attitude, including her aversion to taking direction and overall impressiveness with herself, running a company of Trumpian magnitude. Nor could I envision Trump putting up with someone as arrogant. Someone needs to go back to business school and re~read the lesson titled "There Is No "I" in TEAM" Yikes!
I would have canned her butt if I were Trump. Odds are when she DOES get canned she will sit there and tell him why he was wrong to can her

Btw, what about Raj's jog around Arthur Ashe Stadium in his skivvys?
