The new sign in the front today did, indeed, read just "Soarin'." Also they repainted the runway on the ground in yellow. Sorry didn't get a chance to grab pics...

The film was never meant to change, the new film will come after Shanghai opens.

... At least a year after, as I understand.
The Chinese government has supposedly been very insistent on having attractions that are totally exclusive to their park, at least for a while.

This could be why the trees were removed.

I asked a friend last night and he told me that it's very likely the trees are coming back after the show is taped. He was not aware of anything being removed for Disneyland Forever.

Keeping my oversized Mickey Gloved fingers crossed.

There's a lot going on with this cup, but I will definitely be buying it. My wallet will be very light this summer.

This stunning souvenir vintage stein features whimsical representations of favorite lands and attractions, and is topped with Sleeping Beauty Castle. This plastic stein is lightweight enough to carry around at the park, while being beautiful enough to display on a shelf (which is exactly what I’m planning to do).

Look for the stein, in addition to other specialty food and beverage items when the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration kicks off on May 22.

Cheers to 60 years!

I'm thinking maybe the 'Over California' bit is attached like that to easily change it when Soarin' receives its new film.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed with it, it looks a bit barren. In a few years though I think it will look great once the trees and shrubs have grown in.

Yeah... sadly it's going to take a little while for it to really match the real vision of the area. But as you said, once those trees grow in it's going to look really nice!

For reference, check out these before and after shots of and around Grizzy Peak to see what a difference time makes: http://www.yesterland.com/goldenstatetn.html

WDI Art Director Kim Irvine sat down for an interview to discuss Hatbox and the new Harold. She revealed some details about the new Harold, and it looks like there will be some easter eggs in the Matterhorn from Disneyland's past that Harold will be "hoarding."

"There have been so many advances made with digital projection and sound technology over the past decade. So we were thinking that -- rather than have the Abominable Snowman remain as this sort of static, stationary figure at the very heart of the Matterhorn -- wouldn't it be cool if, while you were riding through the mountain, you now got the sense that the Abominable Snowman was running along right next to your bobsled. That you could now catch glimpses of him moving through the Matterhorn just ahead of you," Irvine enthused.

"Again, I want to stress here that the story that the Matterhorn tells is pretty much the same. The big change is, of course, with the Abominable Snowman. He's a little bit more ferocious, a little bit more exciting," Kim said. "And if you're really paying attention as you ride along in your bobsled, you may notice that -- at various points along the way -- that there are these caves where the Abominable Snowman seems to be hoarding things that he found out in the Park. That -- if you look closely -- you may be able to see items that pay tribute to rides, shows and attractions from Disneyland's past."
