Pan needs more than enhancements. They need to totally reconfigure the thing and increase capacity. It's pathetic that even WDW settled for an interactive queue thing to keep people entertained for their 90-minute wait.

Yeah, i'm disappointed too to hear IJA is closed for a 12 day refurb when i will be back in town, too.
I'll be around April 25th through May 2nd...du'oh !

It's not too big of a surprise as i was expecting this might happen - it was down this same week last year, too.
I just secretly hoped the refurb would be pushed back a week or so afterwards.
Oh well.

Good to see it is getting some love.
Maybe they can repair the changing door effect in the 'Chamber of Destiny' scene.
That would be nice.

I had a feeling it would close for refurb once Splash Mountain re-opens since they want to refurb what they can before the 60th Celebration kicks off.
Makes perfect logistically sense.
Still a little disappointing though as i was looking forward to riding 20+ times again ( LOVE love love this Attraction!).

Welp, there's my excuse to come back later in the year.
Toying with maybe going in August and experiencing the D23 Expo.
Might be interesting with the 60th n' all....
;)

We are having the same thoughts, I was planning to ride Indy several times too. This is our 34 anniversary and we usually celebrate at DL each year. I suffered through many ride refurbs over the years, but the magic was always there and low crowds. We went to WDW last year for a change of pace and I so missed my favorites like Indy and I was exhausted. We are booked for the Grand Californian this anniversary and I would not cancel if they closed every attraction. Now I will start planning the Thanksgiving 2015 family vacation to DL. All the 60 bling will be in place and Soarin will be refeshed. The crowds will be larger, but less refurbs. It is always a good time to visit Disney.

Fab.
You will have a great time because you are going with the right attitude!
Some folks get really upset about ride closers and refurbs, making it seem as though it is going to totally ruin their visit.

The great thing about Disneyland i because there is SO MUCH to do contained within just ONE Park ( DL itself ) they can have three or four things 'down' and you don't miss them once there.
Oh sure, i understand the disappointment in a favorite being closed but it should not dampen anyone's spirits so much that it effects their attitude towards their upcoming visit.

The way i look at it, this is just something to use as an excuse to come back and visit again !

I talked to one of the managers at Disneyland today, and he told me that they are planning to have a big event for the Star Wars premiere. He said that they are trying to bring the Millennium Falcon into Disneyland with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher for the premiere just like when they had a Lone Ranger premiere at California Adventure with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.

Got some tidbits on PTN. Frozen is the only new unit; the drum is going to be attached to Tink's float. Expect her fairy friends and Peter to be there as well. It will have a LOT more performers than HKDL, including extra princesses added onto Belle's unit.
Also, the costumes will be slightly different :) Buzz will glow, and the VIP's (with the exception of Mickey) will have new costumes.

Princesses as in Cinderella and Snow White, or are you referring to the ballroom dancers preceding Belle?

Thank you, once again, for giving us the inside scoop from the field of entertainment.

I've enjoyed watching the videos of Hong Kong's Paint The Night on YouTube. But about the only criticism I have is that there doesn't appear to be enough dancers or insterstitial performances between the floats. If they can flesh out the cast a bit, add some more dancing girls or athletic guy performers, that would help a lot. The street just looks a bit too empty in Hong Kong, with not enough humans walking the pavement.

The finale float with Mickey and that weird LED robotic light sculpture thing that makes me feel like I should do a keg stand in someone's dorm room to fully appreciate it, is also a weak link. I like the kinetic LED sculpture, I like Mickey Mouse up on top, but it seems like it just needs something else to make it gel. Maybe some go-go girls or something? I'm not sure, but it needs something.

Otherwise, I think Paint The Night is going to be the breakout hit of the 60th Anniversary and I can easily see it sticking around for the next twenty years and becoming a beloved Disneyland classic. I can also see them cloning it for WDW five years from now.

The castle looks great! VERY shiny. VERY surprised that decor is going up this early in the game. I thought they'd do it all overnight before 5/22.

Interesting... part of the Tink float? As in her harness and light fixture will be coming out of the drum itself? I thought there'd be two different structures.

I was thinking it would be added on like a train car.

Oh, and then some hot coffee afterwards to sober up after the 'psychedelic experience'
