The 40th, MNSSHP, Food & Wine, A New Camera and 3200 Pictures. Sept/Oct TR.

Welcome to my 3rd trip report, for my 11th trip, that includes a few 1st and a 40th. Now we all know about the 40th, but the 1st's will be talked about later.
I have been home for two weeks now. Shame, for having waited this long to start. But I just wasn't feeling it yet. I have finally started editing some of my pictures and I am ready to get this going.
On this trip there were only two travelers. First there is me. This was my 3rd trip in 17 months and I am already ready to go back. I purchased a new camera, Canon SX30, before the trip. So, hopefully, my pictures have improved since the last trip. I still need more practice on low light pictures, but that is what the next trip is for.

Then there is my dad. This was his 13th trip, his first being in April of 72. His most recent trip was in May/June 2010. He videoed more of the trip than I did, while I took most of the pictures.

We stay at Pop Cenutry from September 30th till October 6th. We had free dining for most of our trip and we had 5 day Park Hoppers. We also had tickets to the September 30th MNSSHP. Add in the 40th and Food & Wine and it was a very busy 5 days.

In this trip report you will find out about how we met a dozen characters in just over an hour, our adventure of all four parks in one day, and just how crazy the 40th really was. Stay tuned for all that and much more, including many many many pictures.

Too bad he wasn't smoldering for you. If that even a word, smoldering? LOL. That is just a crop of the original picture, I will have to try and find the original.

Wasn't it your mom that spotted me first?

It's not fair that you are becoming famous on MY trip report. :ROFLOL:

Awesome!

And probably but you know what I meant :P :)

:ROFLOL: No you're the star of it!!! :)

And you know I was really hoping they would do something special in the parade. It was really neat to have the grand marshall that was actually at the park opening 40 years ago, but I was still hoping for something special

Not much of a star when there are only maybe 5 or 6 people reading.

It would have been cool to have a little something extra. Throw some banners on the float or something. Either way, we were there and that's what counts.

As of this weekend, it's official. I will be there in Sept/Oct again. The dates are looking to be Sept 28th-Oct 4th. Hopefully we can meet up at some point during the two days we overlap. And for more than a few minutes this time.

Where and when exactly is the TOT race? Is there anywhere that people can come to watch? I've never done that, but I figured since I know quite a few of ya'll that will be running it would be fun to do.

Plan to post more right after I post this.

We found a spot that would be good for MSEP, The Magic, The Memories and You, and Wishes. We were on the curb behind one family for MSEP. They were sitting though, so it wasn't to hard to crop them out of most of the pictures.

I love this picture, other than the camera in the corner. But every time I try to crop this picture I lose some of the float.

I adore the Step Sisters.

One of my faves.

This was the one picture from The Magic, The Memories and You that came out great. I loved that I got this shot on the 40th, of all days. I actually have this picture in a WDW 40th frame in my room.

Now it was time for Wishes. I could watch Wishes every night. I listen to it on my mp3 player quite a lot, actually. When Wishes first started, we had some people that walked right in front of our cameras at the last minute. At one point we told this one guy that his head was blocking my dad's video camera. Asking if he could move just a little. His response, good. For being such a special day, there were some rude ones out there.

Most of my firework pictures had to be edited alot. I always had smoke in my pictures. Any suggestions on how to not have that happen? Or maybe a way to edit them better?

I was really hoping for there to be a mention of the 40th during Wishes, but it never came. They did add some perimeter fireworks at the end. Where we were standing though, all I could do was admire them, no pictures.

These last two are my favorites from tonight. The bottom one is quite often the wallpaper on my phone.

Your photos are really great!

Thanks. This was my first time with the new camera. So I was constantly playing around with the settings. I think alot of it was just pure luck.

To second that, your pictures are great-you did a terrific job and I could almost feel myself immersed at Disney now as opposed to tied to my desk today.....:)

Wow! I really appreciate that. Glad I could share a little Disney with you today.

It felt really special being there that day.

Awesome!!!!!!! Where are you staying???? Hopefully we can meet up! Not sure what our plan is yet, I know on Friday I think we're skipping MNSSHP this year and we'll just spend the time at another park that night, and Saturday morning my mom is doing the 5K at the WWOS. But we should definitely be able to find some time to meet up!!! :)

And it is at 10pm on the 29th. It starts and ends at DHS. THere is a party afterwards at DHS til 3 am but you need a special party ticket which anyone can buy, I bought one for my mum when I registered for the race (I don't need one because I'm signed up for the race) but if you want to go there you will probably have to call DIsney for a ticket or see what they can do. Now, I'm sure you could watch at other points in the course but they haven't released the course for the race yet. Once they do I'll have to give it to you so you can see. the one thing I do know is we run through the WWOS complex but no other park besides DHS which is kinda stinky.

And I have to say I agree about the rudeness of people on the night of the 40th, it was horrible.

We will be staying at Pop again. What can I say, it's my favorite. I don't think we are going to MNSSHP this time either. I enjoyed myself that night, but not sure if I want to pay extra for it again. Maybe in another year or two. I think we are gonna go to Epcot Friday night. Maybe we could do a little eating around the World. We should find out if any of our fellow cruisers will be there Friday night, we could all meet up.

Definitely, let me see the map once you get it. We plan on being in Magic Kingdom that day, but if I can, I would love to come cheer you gals on.

I love all the parade pictures!

You're absolutely right. If the People Mover had a line, it's crowded.

Thanks! That was the only lines we saw the whole trip though. After the 40th, the lines went home with all the people. :ROFLOL:

After Wishes ended, it was utter chaos on Main Street. There was no one directing the traffic flow. It took us 30 minutes to make a loop in front of Casey's. Finally we were able to cross Main Street and make our way to Tomorrowland. I took a much needed break, after all that crowd.

We decided to take a spin with Buzz.

After Buzz, we slowly made our way out the park.

It had been a long and tiring day, but definitely worth it. Despite the crowds and lack of huge celebration, I enjoyed every minute today. The crowds of fans are what made the day. It was great meeting new friends and just talking to fellow fans. Over the course of the day, I talked to two guys who had been in line since the wee hours of the morning, a couple who had come in for just the one day and surprisingly alot of people who had no clue what was going on. I have to say that the 40th was one of the most interesting days I have ever spent in the World.

We made our way back to the room for a good night's sleep.

Day 2 (Finally!)

Our destination today was MGM. I will always call it MGM, stop trying to correct me. LOL.

Just in case we forget which bus stop we needed.

That was the bag check line. Where did all these people come from? And why were they all at the same park as me?

We made it to the park for 8:45am and I was elected to make the mad dash to Toy Story Mania. Before rope drop, I made it to the end of the first set of stores on the left hand side of the street.

My view as we all made our way to Toy Story.

This was my place in line for a FP.

Our FP's were for 11:05-12:05. The standby line was already out the door. At this point we decided to just roam around for awhile.

I just might buy this hat for my next trip.

My dad's a mailman, so we had to take a picture of him next to the mailbox.

For you, Hollybelle.

It was now time for The Great Movie Ride, where I saw Joanna. (Hi!)

Munchkins!

After the ride, we started roaming again. We didn't have too long till lunchtime, so we didn't want to go to far.

I love Chip and Dale's outfits.

We caught them right as they were leaving.

I love the reflection in this one.

Time for lunch. We ate at 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch today. I had the sampling of Mom's Favorites.

It was very good. My favorite though was the pot roast. I will be getting this again next time. Dessert was Dad's Sundae. I never finish the whole thing.

It was time to cash in our FP's for Toy Story.

My dad won.

We stumbled upon these guys.

It's Mike and Sulley.

Mulch, Sweat and Shears. I love watching these guys perform.

Apparently none of those people in the bag check line this morning want to see Muppets 3D.

My favorite gag in the room. A net full of jello.

What are we gonna do today?

It was now time for the Backlot Tour. I still like this ride. There is so much to take pictures of on this ride.

I love the next series of shots. I took them one right after the other, trying to capture the flow of the water.

It was now time for the Pixar Pals Parade. Or whatever it is now called.

I finally got one with his eyes open.

I love UP.

It's Woody and Buzz.

After the parade my dad went on Star Tours. I took a break while I waited and then wandered through the gift shop.

Here comes our on Cavalcade of Characters. First we met a penquin outside The Great Movie Ride.

Next we visited Winnie the Pooh inside the Art of Animation.
