Thank you cards

I work in an... interesting... location to say the least. Not that much magic happens... but when it does, it's great! A couple of weeks ago, this family with the cutest twin girls ever gave their server two little homemade cards with cute sayings on them... themed with princesses... I wish I could remember what they said but we took pictures of them. Anyways... the server in turn gave the girls Pixie Dust Pins... the whole family was SO EXCITED because the girls really really wanted pins but they just weren't in the family's budget... so now they had their pins!! :) It was so sweet.
what a great story

I do what I do cause I love my job... so I don't expect a formal input. When a guest tells me thank you or tells me how much something I have done has MEANT to them... that really means more to me then anything else. I could be doing alot of other things then working here, and I am even thinking about going off to grad school soon. But what keeps me here, what keeps me loving Disney even on the worst days, are those guests who really "get" it. The guests who love Disney and come back over and over. I have seen guests come multiple times, and I LOVE seeing guests I've seen on other times through their trips.

Seeing the guests enjoy themselves and get lost in the world of magic, is what I think Disney is all about.
:sohappy: Agree 100%

I too have the best job in the world. I remember one day a father came up to me and just said "Thank You". And of coarse, I responded "No, thank you", until he stopped me and said "You have no idea how important this is, my daughter has cancer, and I never see her smile, until today and she still hasn't stopped." It was that moment, which came on my 3rd day at work, that made all the training worth it.

As great as cards filled out at Guest Relations are, we can't put a name with a face with them. A card given to us by the guest is something to remember, a card posted on the bullitan board is a guest experiance we may/may not remember doing, because many of us have great stories all day long! There was another time where I reccomended a great spot to watch the parade to some family, and they made an effort to find me later that day just to say "thanks."

Again, that's something I'll always remember because no matter how many times I recommend a parade spot during the day, I remember that guest, not thier name, but thier faces and how happy they were. A card can't do that, but is still greatly appricated (in addition to just saying thanks).

Fellow Photopass here as well. I received one of those cards as well after photographing a family. They had left, must have confered, and then sent one of the family members back to give me a laminated card that said something like "You've made our dreams come true....the _______ family" It also had a photo of a character on it. Since then, I've seen Cinderella with 2 of those cards on her table in the princess room. Different family name and different wording and character, but the same design. I wonder if there is a pattern for it on the internet somewhere. I've heard of mousekeeping cards that people can print out from the internet.

Pocamahontas & Lhriangel;
Feel like sharing identities? I think I know who Lhriangel is or at least I have it narrowed down to 2 people. Pocamahontas, I've no clue. Obviously we would be doing this in PM.

And I agree...we have the BEST job in the world.

And while those cards are great and GREATLY appreciated and they make your day, It is also nice to receive a Great Service Fanatic Card that goes on your record card as well. It helps offset the times you might punch in 1 minute late.

I've sent you a message. You think you know who I am do you? We'll see ... We'll see... muahahaha:fork:

Sorry, I've been working too many hours hehe. I'm still on a high from my thimble hehe...

I can NOT stop talking about that great moment. The other cast member and I are plotting to make some more magic for her the next time she comes :) We can't wait to see the look on her face... :)

I really really do adore my job. I was having a tough time for awhile. I tried not to show it but my close friends knew what was going on. And I really needed a lift of pixie dust. Now I get pixie dust everyday and get to spread my pixie dust with others!

Also, when we share our stories, especially with each other as cast members we are sharing that special pixie dust the guests give us. We are cheering there day up as well. I always try to smile no matter what, and when I tell stories like that to the cast who may have been having a bad day or having issues w/other stuff I get to make them smile as well, which to me is just as important as making sure the Guests are smiling!

I've only just made up the cards within the last few weeks. They are neither worded for, nor intended explicitly for, CMs. My plan is to give one to anyone who adds to the magic of my day. And having read the earlier post, I'm considering adding a thimble to each card, the thought touched me. i don't think I'll change the cards to comment on the thimble... If they figure it out, great! If they don't... they will someday and then it'll be even better.

Oh man is that a great idea! A thimble. I love that the little girl knew what it meant, but I do love that they are sooo full of meaning. Classic Disney World, nothing is so simple...it's much much better!

I actually got HUGGED by a dad today cause I did something special for his wife's bday. That has never happened before...

I'm going this weekend to buy my card supplies. I plan to make little business card type thank yous to hand to anybody who adds to the magic and "gets it". This is for CMs and fellow guests. I love the thimble idea and it's an inexpensive enough addition to the cards. I may do some up like that. I've been brainstorming trying to come up with fun ideas to make a big assortment of pixie dusters (that's what I call 'em).

I also want to make full on Thank You cards for our Mousekeeping staff for each night of our stay. I'll have each member of the family sign them, tuck in our tip amount, and have them ready to go so each morning I can just grab one out of the pack.

I'm going to buy supplies this weekend and get started. I'm sure a lot of my work will continue next weekend while the hubby is out of town fishing with my brother. It'll be a fun activity for me and my boys. I hope to get them involved in pixie dusting while we're at WDW.

I'm glad the CMs like when they are noticed by guests. I think it makes the magic more real for them, too. If the magic is stronger for them they in turn will reflect that when they experience the next giddy family that comes along. How can that be anything but perfect?

Great thread! Thanks y'all!

That is an excellent point Chape. A guest on these boards wanted to recognize Ariel for the magic she created. He sent me a photo of his daughter and Ariel. I printed the photo and went down to the entertainment office with a Great Service Fanatic Card. However, I also included the photo so that Ariel would be able to place a face with a name.

Good for You! Again, a great benifit of a Disney Job is the reasources to do great things like this.

These were such touching stories and just brought a smile to my heart. We just got back Saturday night from our trip, and although I hadn't thought of handing out cards to special CM's who added pixie dust to our trip, I did let them know how much their kindness meant to us and made a note of their names to send in to Guest relations. We were hoping that the Disney Magic would work on us and bring our spirits up since we were missing DH so much and I must say that there were so many cast members that just went beyond wonderful and it really did wonders for us all, so Thank you again!

God I wish!!!! One day, yeah, one day!!!!

Awww... the only bad thing about working at the MK is the commute. Other then that (for me) it is the best place to be for my job I think. :)...

I still can't stop smiling about my thimble. I LOVE it.. the only thing is.. no one gets it, well almost no one. About 5 or so people do LOL.

While I was working at Jungle Cruise, skippers would have guests fill out "Guest Service Fanatic" cards. Normally they'd be filled out as a cast member to cast member recognition. It was cool hearing directly from the guests.

During MNSSHP three years ago, I was working the Diamond Horseshoe Treats location and had a little girl (and her family) give me a tiny bag of candy with a note. The candy's long gone, but the bag and note I kept.

I do have to say, sometimes I miss working at MK for the reasons that others have already mentioned. Not that I mind, working in a Thirteen Diamond Award winning hotel...

Oh, and to all those guests who go out of their way to even so much as thank the CMs who made their day, thank you. It's the CMs day you're really making. :)

On my visit in December, I gave away tiny multi flavored candy canes :xmas: to all the CM's that helped make my day extra special. I think I gave one to the CM that rescued my Pal Mickey from the Mickey Philharmagic Theater, when I left him by accident under my seat:brick:.

I need to remember to do something on my trip at the end of October. It's just as fun for me to see the CM's reaction to my special surprise, as it is to see me smile because of something they did. :D Keep up the great work CM's !!!!!!!! :sohappy:
