News Test Track to be reimagined

A part of me worries that they’ll lean a bit too hard into WOM. Test track’s core idea at the end of the day is testing a car. The only thing that changed between 1.0 and 2.0 was the environment and tests, with 1.0 testing physical elements of a car on a physical test track, and 2.0 testing design elements of a car in a digital test track. They haven’t really emphasized the testing aspect of 3.0 to my knowledge. I hope they don’t remove it since at that point it’s not really test track anymore. Which would be a shame.
I think attractions keeping their old names after major overhauls/rethemes when it makes sense/is possible is cool actually and should be done more often.

"Test Track is getting stale. It should be rethemed."
"Look! It's leaning in to its roots and will draw inspiration from World of Motion!"
"But it won't be Test Track anymore."

Sigh. . .
I think some people here just can’t be happy for once. I feel that we should feel lucky we are getting such a classic Epcot inspired redo. Like yeah with this, and also bears to an extent, they’ll be different, but I’d rather them be different from the original but still “itself” than rethemed to the ip of the week.

This has the potential to be the best attraction at EPCOT. Kids - not just nerdy kids - love summaries of history as long as it’s zippy enough. It’s fun to see how things change over time. It makes people feel smart. Old EPCOT had that in spades, but it didn’t have any thrills.

Now Spaceship Earth is the only educational ride through history. Since I’d prefer that to remain an omnimover for all ages, it’s a great idea to mash together edutainment and mild thrill in TT3.

This is perfectly said. TT 3.0 has the potential to be the most EPCOT feeling attraction since...TT 2.0 lol. The solution to the so-called "EPCOT Problem" was always more variety. WoM and SSE are both phenomenal attractions but were same-ey. Giving a thrill ride the blood of World of Motion solves the variety problem without sacrificing content. If it's done right, it's going to be incredible.

In a new Disney Parks Blog post, Disney now has the Test Track reopening set for late summer 2025:

Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead! Test Track presented by General Motors is making its return lap late summer 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline – you’ll want to be all buckled in for an adventure. You might even see cars returning to the track (for testing…at Test Track…nice) with their new look early in the year!

I still think my idea of TEST TRACK: A WORLD OF MOTION would've been a fair compromise to solve the title issue and how it relates to the ride, hah.

Something about how they're approaching it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that this is gonna be a home run. Hoping the WoM influence is well received, that could have influence on other parts of the park.

Me too. I after the country bear redo, that awesome dinoland Christmas farewell thing they are doing, and now this, I’m starting to think wdi cares a lot more about (some of) wdw and its history than we think they do.

Plus it would fit Disney’s trend of making attraction names really long

>imagineering working with GM and not with the creative constraints of Disney
>100 million dollar budget
>optimistic feel of WOM

All signs lead to something great. And if test track is anything like the last project imagineering worked on with a 3rd party company like OLC (fantasy springs) Test Track 3.0 will be great, and possibly one of if not the best attraction Disney has produced in the modern era. Or perhaps im being a bit hyperbolic :p

Nono, your on the money. There's a chance this can be one of the most polished things WDW has gotten in awhile.

That’s not really a lot of money. Pixar Pier cost more.
When you say Pixar Pier, do you mean the retheming of Incredicoaster, Jessies, Inside Out, the Pal-Around's new decor, the updated snack stands, Bing Bong's, Lamplight Lounge and refreshed games? If so, one attractions having that budgetof a whole land refresh is pretty good

That really wasn’t a major scope of work. It is also what The Little Mermaid was supposed to cost over a decade ago before they spent an extra $50 million trying to fix it.

Hopefully it is the start of a trend with quality Epcot ride redo’s. Honestly, in general, I hope more rides get the refresh treatment rather than total retheme.
