I'm looking forward to the 50 threads in the next 5 years asking "what is the thing on top of the Test Track sign?".

Followed by 49 responses of "do a thread serach".

After looking through the transcript, all I can say is that she sounds more like a corporate PR drone rather then Imagineer. All of her responses are canned, marketing-speak, non-answers. I mean, look at this.
When asked about how much of the ride will be real sets VS screens.

Melissa Jeselnick: We talk a lot about being in the digital space, but it's still a physical experience. We're using a lot of new technology to tell the story, but it is still a dynamic physical experience.
After removing all the unnecessary words, you get "Technology. Physical experience" (buzzword!!). Then she literally repeats herself, and adds more another buzzword (dynamic).

When asked about new technology in the attraction.

Melissa Jeselnick: Our team is so excited to bring new interactive technologies to the guest to enhance Future World and put the guest at the center of the experience. All of the software is custom for this attraction.
Ignore the entire first sentence because it has a bunch of words that say nothing and has nothing to do with the question (though it has a lot of buzzwords in it!!). Then you get the answers that plainly says, "Yes it's custom."

For more fun, count how many times she says "experience." Experience experience experience, don't YOU want to experience the experience? Make sure to give Mickey your money at gift shop at the end of the experience! Many thanks to our friends at Chevrolet, presenting Test Track in Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort (tm).

She'll have a fine career if she ever goes into politics because she's already mastered the non-answer method of communication.

"The Disney Parks Blog - Doing Our Part to Turn Imagineers Into Corporate Robots"

Just my opinion, but this lil Q&A actually made me less excited than I was previously. As someone else said - it's going to be the same ride with fancy high-def screens and new lighting. It is what it is - I don't know why they have to talk this up like it's something amazing...

Looks a great deal better, but o lordie will someone throw this girl a thesaurus? Something tells me this ride will be somewhat 'physical'.

And I just love the way they handled Michael's question. "Will this really be a vast improvement over its predecessor?"

"Duhh....here's a sparkly new sign for ya. :)"

Watching that video made me sad....notice how WDI is so corporate and souless now? There just throwing around generic Buzzwords and saying things like "Disney always wants to keep their products fresh, chevorlet always wants to keep their products fresh so this was a great partnership for us" . How about some interesting information instead of reciting lines from a press release.

I know it's a rhetorical question, but to control the message entirely. Its kinda like some weird meta blackmail - when one of these bloggers goes dark - or promotes the competitor - does Disney use their other blogger Moopets to announce that other blogger was being paid to advertise? Anyway I thought the US introduced some kind of disclosure policy for Blogs?

Yes, the FTC mandates an honesty policy regarding comps or discounted products/services, but there is no bite behind the law and very few actually are honest about things.

It's another to be a Mommy blogger from the MW who comes to WDW and a publicist makes sure she and her group are comped a meal at Jiko (how such a small party rang up a $600 tab, I'm still wondering about ... clearly, they drank some great South African wines) ... or another online personality brings family along and they get walked into EPCOT for the day for free ... or another's posse has drinks at a WDW resort and runs up a $200 tab and the manager takes care of it. These examples are all from this month, btw. And, no, no one has to disclose anything because they're just doing 'research' or 'being taken care of by friends' ... I would bet a good 85%-90% of what Disney gives bloggers never is announced to anyone. ... After all, it's just business among friends.

My sentiments exactly. It's amazing that Disney still treats the public like we're absolute morons. The "chat" was the Imagineer simply spitting back the press release about the attraction. I think it speaks volumes as to what the company thinks of their paying customers, which would be about nothing at this point. At what point do they stop insulting our intelligence? It was a classic political operation of talking through questions, ignoring them, and sticking to a script all the while answering absolutely nothing.

Well, as others will likely point out, that IS the purpose of The Disney Parks Blog. It's not real interaction between the company and its biggest fans/consumers. One could argue that is what SHOULD be. I'd run the whole social media program that way.

But they prefer fake, condescending and smarmy and, sadly, many of the fans don't know any better and don't care.

Good news is all it will take is 8 hours, 20 cease & desists, and a dozen trespass warnings and the entire lifestyler industry in Orlando will collapse.

Or all it will take is for one of the better known ones to have some horrible secret exposed or engage in some horrible illegal or unethical act that winds up in the REAL media, which is still where most people over the age of 30 get their news and information, and you will see that cottage industry collpase faster than a 401K after Wall Street was exposed as a Ponzi Scheme in 2008!

I was one of the "dont know any better and don't care" people until about 2 years ago. I thought that people who criticized Disney were nuts. Thanks to sites like this and my own research I realized the potential that has been wasted. It's a slippery slope they are on, and this latest insult (the web chat) hasnt made things any better. More and more people are starting to see the disturbing lack of care that this company has for its fans.

I don't blame the Imagineers for this becasuse I honestly don't think those are her words, she is clearly being fed what to say by the marketing department.
