Test Track is broken down over 40% of the time

This whole thread is based on a faulty premise - that TT is down 40% of the time. The OP attributes this to TouringPlans, but they got the facts wrong. What TP has stated is that on any given day, TT has a 40% chance of having some kind of downtime based on historical numbers. Not that it's down 40% of the time. That's two very different things.

99% of that 40% == RAIN

I was just coming back to post almost the same thing. That after doing some research on my own, TT had downtime on approximately 40% of operating days. In other words out of every 10 days, it will have some downtime on 4 of those days. That means that if it has a 15 minute stoppage in the entirety of a day, that's counted as a day. If it's down for rain for 30-60 minutes, that's counted as a day.

Or stated another way, 60% of days it has no downtime at all, and on the other 40%, it's still up the vast majority of the day. So the actual number of downtime is actually closer to 90% or more.

I don’t know about 40% but TT was down twice on two different days when we were there 12-4 through 12-11. And on both days it was not raining.

It seems like every time I look at the app, it shows it closed. Seems like a very unreliable attraction. When I have visited in the past, it has gone down a couple of times but seems to reopen rather quickly. Always has a long line when it is open.

I’d be interested in seeing a comparison between TT and Radiator Springs Racers at DCA, as they share the same basic ride system. Does anyone that visits DLR on a regular basis have any input on this?

Rain and lightening are very rare in Anaheim, so weather isnt much of an issue.

The stats indeed are deceptive. 4 out of 10 days, TT will go down, some delays of which will quite literally be for a few minutes. Similar statistics are true of many attractions. At least half the time I have had short interruptions on Buzz Lightyear, Spaceship Earth and Haunted Mansion.

I don’t know how many times I have ridden TT...hundreds. Anyway, this past Friday 1/11/19 was the first time I was evacuated from the ride. We were at the Power Test and the next car to be shot out of the building. The doors were open and it came to a hard stop. Sat there a few minutes, they announced the ride was terminated and the lights came on. A couple of cast member showed up and escorted us back and we picked up all the other riders (about 6 cars) to an exit point. The place looks very dusty and grey with the lights on.

Had a FP and Walked over to ride again on Saturday the 12th and as we walked up, they were emptying the building. Rode later that evening after dinner with no issues.

Hmmm. 3 attempted rides with 2 failures. Looks like a 66% breakdown rate to me...

The way I see it,
Disney wanted that thing open in 1998 and had ample time to get it ready but failed badly. It wasn't even a new technology but a play off of Anaheim's IJ attraction which came out 3 years earlier

Anyway the attraction should have been enclosed knowing Florida's heavy rain patterns.

I’ve said before, I’ll ride from time to time because I once had the highest rated car of the day and therefore the ride is awesome.

That said, it’s ‘overrated’ as far as wait time/entertainment ratio (7DMT is still the runaway champ) but families dragging bored kids to this park one day of the vacation have to have something for the kids to ride, thus TT, Soarin and Frozen get higher lines than they really deserve.

I was watching some videos from Touring Plans and Brian was doing a video on testing times on going to Epcot's major attractions. I remember a few other videos prior to that one talking about Epcot and how Test Track was broken down a lot. Even when they help you plan, they take into account that Test Track breaks down quite a bit. They did numbers and said it was broken over 40% of the time.

And today, I look on my Disney app and guess what....Test Track is broken down again and is temporarily closed. Seems to be power problems the last few times it's broken down.

What's with this attraction? Needs major renovating? Electrical issues? Seems like every other day something is going on.
If you think Test Track is bad, Rocket Rods at Disneyland was even worse.
