Test Track is broken down over 40% of the time

''broken' vs 'poor design'........to anybody looking to ride does it really matter?

The thrust of this topic is downtime,
***unnecessary downtime*** due to poor design/planning. If sensors are tripping when no real danger exists causing delays and squandered opportunity of ridership then the attraction, to me, is indeed "broken" and in need of a real fix.
Even when guests are the ones causing the issue? I’ve been on Splash Mountain at Disneyland when teens in the boat in front of us decided to reach out and stop their boat to cause the ride to stop. Is this poor design? No, It’s stupidity.

I say both. It can be both, right ?

Poor design because, once again, Disney knows or should have known that a percentage of guests do inadvisable things.
Unrestrained teens on an 8 seater theme park boat attraction that has a mix of thrill and slow movement!!!!......that is a perfect platform for selfishness, stupidity and immaturity to shine. This is highly predictable.

So no it's not Disney's fault for guest stupidity--obviously---but it sure could have designed Splash Mountain boats with restraints knowing guest behavior.

When that ride was designed and installed, people, even teenagers, weren't as stupid careless as they are today.

In '92 stupid/immature people roamed the Earth.

Hey guess what? We had some stupid ones too in the 1200's.

And I'm just taking a wild guess but I fully expect some in 2065 as well.

There is no way I am buying that in '92 that foolish teens did not do their thing on Splash Mountain.
****especially when in '89 I saw first hand on Disneyland's Splash Mountain some rule breaking even with the tandem seating arrangement***

From the word 'go' Splash has hosted stupidity be it in Florida or California.

If you an attraction that is offline all the time just head to Disneyland and try to ride Indiana Jones Temple of the Forbidden Eye. That ride constantly shuts down and I'm not sure why since Dinosaur isn't as bad.

The amount of times I personally experienced nonoperation for the following similar ride systems:

Test Track(~ 15)
Dinosaur/CTX(~10)
Indiana Jones Forbidden Eye(~10)
Indiana Jones Crystal Skull(3)
Journey To Center Earth(4)
Rocket Rods(3)
Radiator Springs Racers(2)

In fair disclosure I have been to Epcot, AK and DL the most and thus would explain the more times I have experienced the nonopperations of like attractions. Also, Rocket Rods had unique engineering issues that were so costly, frustrating and embarrassing that the attraction closed after maybe 3 years. Radiator Springs is still a "newbie" compared to his cousins and it had hours long shutdowns on each day of my 2 visits 2 years apart.
As for Journey To Center, as far as I know, rain shut us down once, an earthquake got us on another occasion and not sure as to why the other 2 times.

Well, it's more prevalent now than it used to be, and part of that is the internet making stars of the "stupid/immature." Ref: "Eating Tide Pods"...

They were there, but, were at least able to remain under their collective rocks and out of the public for the most part.

At Disney rn and the ride broke down at 4 and never has gone back up. Last time I was here 2 days ago the ride broke down for 3 hours. And when I was here 2 weeks ago it was down at 6 and never went back up.

Something recently is up with the ride and none of it has been weather related.

Well newbie of 8 years, an attraction of tremendous scale and quality. World of Motion. I recommend @marni1971 's ultimate tribute.

lol I meant relative new to the world of disney. I didn't start going to wdw to the 2000's so I always seem to missed all these wonderful attractions folks mention here.

In relation to folks here who say they've been going for 30 years.

Oh no I'm not falling for that again, the last time I watched a recommend Martin video I posted that it did not look all that great to me, I was told I was stupid and accept any thing Disney offered. You guys take your fan appreciation of old rides way too serious.

If you appreciate cartoony, humorous depictions of history of any kind, or just enjoy some large and fun set-pieces, I'd say give it a try. Just bear in mind it's a 15-minute-long dark ride so it may not keep your interest in video form as much as actually being there would.
