I mean if we gotta Chapek it up, we can probably integrate Falcon somewhere...
We can’t Marvel is at Islands otherwise you would be so right.

The few Marvel series we have access to don’t really vibe with a sky pavilion (if we go that route). Would be even looser than Gaurdians ☠️

Also while I'm not the Project Manager when I was judging I saw a format that reviews the day's talking from team Time and I think it would help to consolidate all of our thoughts from the day :)

I'll try to compile one now :)

Daily Log: 3/20
Potential Pavilions:
  • Sky/Air/Weather (The World Above Pavilion? The Blue Sky Pavilion?)
  • Geology/Earth (The Inner Earth Pavilion?)
  • Arts (Art, Music, Literature)
  • Sound/Music
  • Games
  • Community
  • Commerce
If I missed one I'll edit it in just let me know :D

Blue Sky Pavilion Brainstorm:
Aviation and weather two elements of the sky lend itself well to attractions maybe even the moving of whatever the flying ride at Magic Kingdom to Epcot (Dreamflight, If You Had Wings, etc) into a more complex and fleshed out attraction with a sponsor. A walkthrough gallery with a small theater on the history of aviation to compliment the flying ride. The Skies Above being the weather based animatronic show pitched by @Brer Panther . It would be the perfect sparring partner with the Land containing the same amount of attractions at opening day.

In 1996 we could take a cue from @TheSquirrel bringing in Ludwig Von Drake as a guide on signage in the aviation gallery and host in the History of Aviation film after the success of Circle of Life: An Enviromental Fable over at the Land. This could end with a flying montage from various Disney films set to an awe inspiring score! A possible "hipping" of The Skies Above animatronic show could happen in 2000 for the Millennium Celebration. Then in 2004 fans are outraged as the flight omnimover shuts down as a new take on Soarin comes online in 2005 with a new airline sponsorship giving us a budget to film new international footage.

For 2020 given the 'unique' approach taken by Chapek with attractions it seems like something IP based should come in to replace either the History of Aviation walkthrough/theater, Skies Above animatronic show, or both. Alternatively we could install a parachute drop tower adjacent to the pavilion which takes the same who cares about sightlines approach of today's Epcot. Disney has been pushing the Rocketeer lately as a franchise with a new Disney Junior show airing and a sequel in the works for Disney+.

Now for all of these ideas in a list form :D

Opening in 80's:
  • Dreamflight/If You Had Wings successor
  • History of Aviation Walkthrough & Theater Film
  • The Skies Above - weather based animatronic show ala Kitchen Cabaret, Carousel of Progress, etc.
1996 Change
  • History of Aviation Walkthrough & Theater Film with a Ludwig Von Drake tie in
2000 Change
  • Hipper The Skies Above
2004/5 Change
  • Dreamflight/If You Had Wings successor closes
    • Soarin replaces
2020s
  • Replacement of either History of Aviation Walkthrough & Theater Film or The Skies Above or both with an IP attraction
    • Possibly The Rocketeer?
  • Parachute Drop Tower Outside?
  • Rocketeer attraction?

I think we've been greatly progressing greatly so far! Loving the energy from the team :D
Seems like a lot of us like the air/sky/weather pavilion, and even ideas that were suggested from others were able to be worked into the Air pavilion lineup I wrote out were worked in a fun way :D

Hopefully we can officially vote on what pavilion we go with as the voting commencement is up to @MickeyWaffleCo. this week, but the more time we have to work on details the better our chances of winning ;) :D

When Tegan helps us in our secrect plan to take the most posts title, don't worry it's a slow burn process we'll catch up ;)

Ooooh that's interesting and intriguing!

I agree Sky are a very compelling theme. Obviously this is still a brainstorm, but the idea really excited me 😅
And because I'm also the ultimate procrastinator made a playlist that could serve as area/background music for the 2020 era of the pavilion

While short it clocks in right above the 43 minute mark

Sounds good to me.

Thank you for this. I’m terrible at such lists. 🤣

If no one objects, we could vote today and choose a theme by tonight so we have the entire rest of the week to work.

By the way, a couple other things to mention:
  • Since this is opening day EPCOT, we need a stand out piece of architecture as the centerpiece of our pavilion. Just look at Horizons, or Universe of Energy, or World of Motion, or heck, even Spaceship Earth. We need a defining, recognizable building to ground the whole pavilion.
  • I did some tingling on the keys last night and found two melodies that sound very Sherman Brothers-like. One sounds more rock-y, and one more weather-y, for the two front-running ideas.
  • When we start working on tasks later, we should probably work out the basic offerings of the pavilion in the 80s, and then figure out what changes happen in the 90s, 00s, etc. Then we can divide our presentation into: the pavilion in the 80s (largest section, defining the basis of the pavilion), the pavilion in the 90s/00s (smaller section detailing just changes since the 80s), and the pavilion in the 10s/20s (just changes since the 00s).

I think it’s apparent what my vote is 😅

If we go with Sky we could have a helix like tunnels that lead into a building? Those helixes represent like air streams? The paths/helix could be on an upward slope taking guests up into the sky pavilion?

I think we have plenty we could do with The World Above pavilion. The Earth pavilion could be interesting if people got to experience some different types of biospheres (noting the desert in Horizons, though). I think I would go Arts over Sound, because it’s hard to think about “what is the future of sound?”

Agreed! Is @Mickeynerd17 able to help with design this stanza? This seems right up his ally.

One of my favorite reality shows was the Mole. In the first season they had an assignment to produce a modern piece of art that an art critic would think belonged in the museum (when he saw it among the other actual exhibits). I think of architecture as like art. Anyways, it would be great if you had someone who had never seen Epcot buildings say that ours was an actual building on opening day.

Awesome! I think a lot of us would agree that the music at EPCOT definitely adds a lot to the experience.
