Wait which one am I?Tegan and Pix about to wreak havoc on this thread
WHICHEVER ONE YOU WANNA BE!!Wait which one am I?
DeBeers? Sure they're evil, but what Disney sponsor company wasn't?I think a jewelry company would be the most realistic sponsor, but I’m totally open to suggestions.
A mining company perhaps too. That’s more industrial, but it could have a Universe of Energy vibe. “Hey this is all the cool stuff we do and stuff we make that you buy.” Rather than like a direct consumerism angle.
Well to be fair epcot has some oddball sponsors.REAL QUICK!!!!
At the end of the day, traditional FW means there is a consumerism angle in play. So, considering the topic, the two consumer products that immediately come to mind are jewelry and purified water.
We can do whatever we want with the ride but we’re gonna have to incorporate some of this into it, and that’s gonna dictate the storyline of the original version of the ride.
Does anyone else have an idea for a major consumer product that could be related to anything geological??

Love the logo! Love that design!Got some visual concept work completed...at least for the early, geology-focused pavilion. Here's an EPCOT Center style logo.
And here's a concept for the pavilion entrance & exterior, inspired by volcanic shapes crossed with World's Fair architecture (ran it through some '80s photo filtering):
DeBeers? Sure they're evil, but what Disney sponsor company wasn't?
For sure! I mean at least The Land has the greenhouses where they grow the food you can then eat. So a food company sponsored the food pavilion. I just basically need to be able to tie it all together somehow.Well to be fair epcot has some oddball sponsors.
The land presented by kraft/nestle
Imagination presented by kodak
both companies barely cover what the pavilions are about. Kodak is a bit more forgiving than kraft and nestle however
CURSE YOU LAND PAVILION!Love the logo! Love that design!
But, I’ll let you know because I feel like you’d want to that The Land’s glass structure is literally supposed to represent a volcano. Why? I have no idea. Nowhere within the pavilion do they address volcanoes. But that was the inspiration for it.
One of my thoughts is a Mountain....but might be too similar to Imagination's pyramidAlright then, any other concepts for our pavilion architecture?
Well I LOVE the rest of that entrance structure.CURSE YOU LAND PAVILION!
Alright then, any other concepts for our pavilion architecture?
This is doable!Maybe it should look like a gem??
Or the geology idea, the Inner Earth Pavilion. Designed like a conical manmade volcano, surrounded by more naturalistic rock work and lush volcanic soil landscaping. Entered via underground lava tube. (Volcano also = fire! @pix) Main 1980s ride is a typical EPCOT long slow dark ride, themed to probing the increasing depths of the earth’s layers. Maybe an original mascot to go with it? Maybe preceded by a “terravator” pre-show, which is very “Living Seas” and also used on DisneySea’s JTTCOTE.
Post-ride exhibit, The Rock Works, on unique rock types, plus interactive excavation pits (playground a-la Boneyard?). And an overall pavilion common space like a geology HQ miles underground.
Into the 2000s, there’d be a short-lived Atlantis overlay perhaps, since that’s precisely the era when Imagineering hoped that movie would hit big. Maybe more...the 2000s are the hardest for me to grasp.
Come the 2020s the OG ideas are restored and modified for FW’s new “nature” are that I haven’t researched, with perhaps a thrill ride added into an expansion pad - maybe a variant on the Geyser Mountain “spaceshot” concept of riders being launched vertically from the volcano. Maybe a small C-ticket with IP, like e.g. Rock Talk with Korg (& Miek) - Disney cannot use Avengers in Orlando, but these guys I think are OK.
And the main ride gets a new narrator in each era, going from a Tom Brokaw / Dan Rather type (Cronkite is used already, right?) and ending today with, naturally, The Rock. We can never use him enough!
Pavilion interior inspired by You Only Live Twice
IM THE BRUNETTE THEN!WHICHEVER ONE YOU WANNA BE!!
I like the idea of somewhat in between jewelry and mining with a focus on gemstones and rocks.REAL QUICK!!!!

Oh jeez we had a lot of similar thoughts!! Awesome!!All rock solid ideas, Tegan. (Heh heh )
The ride narrative could be traveling progressively deeper into the earth’s crust, through the many different layers all the way to the molten core. The various human interest topics you covered above could still appear.
Ride system? The standard omnimover, or something else? It might be on-theme to do a large group train, like Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland.
