I GREW UP IN CALIFORNIA I DONT KNOW EPCOT IM SORRY
I’m right there with ya! (And @tcool123, since Space is filtering “Sky” through an Epcot filter, don’t worry about DisneySky - that has a DisneySea filter.)
Okay the suggestion I made got a lot of “love reacts” but not a discussion yet soooooo,.....whatcha thinking, team?!

That would literally allow us to use basically all of our big ideas. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
I’m good with this approach. It expands into Elements in the 90s, partly ruining the theme, which is a very Eisner thing to do.

Should we have a dedicated 80s squad and a separate dedicated 90s & 20s squad?
Do we still want to go with the approach of having multiple experiences inside the pavilion (The Land, Imagination) rather than one colossal experience (Horizons, Spaceship Earth)??
If we’re in FW West (pretty sure we are, in the Seas pad), don’t all those involve multiple experiences? At least, start in the 80s with a centerpiece ride and an exhibit and a restaurant, then expand in the 90s with an added thrill ride, and in the 20s with added IP?

I tend to prefer the multi-experience stuff. But we could always start with just one big ride and then expand it into a bit more of a full pavilion in the Epcot or epcot era.

I thought about the dedicated teams thing. I think it’s a good idea, but we also can’t really seal ourselves off from each other because whatever 80s team does will directly influence what 90s team then has to do. Unless they just bulldoze the whole thing.

Yeah definitely in The Seas pad.
The Land opened with its signature boat ride, a film, an animatronic theater show, food court for quick service, and high end full service.
Imagination “opened” with the signature omnimover ride, image works playground, and 3D film.
(I say “opened” because the ride actually wasn’t ready on opening day, it opened like five months later).

Best then is Team 80s can work all fast & furious and get an outline prepared by tomorrow so the 90s etc team can build from that.

Also best if the later eras mostly add attractions, rather than replace or modify. Though we can do minor mods, like a new narrator for the 80s ride for each era, and some blurbs written later this week about like added projection mapping or similar tech pluses.

I like this idea a lot.

I think I basically have to be on team 80s. Though I will definitely consult with everyone throughout the entire project so I can make sure everything lines up correctly.

Well.

I’m prepared to work on this all night. It’s EPCOT and I have coffee. “It’s like I was made for this.”

I’m most interested in overall pavilion design. What it looks like on opening day, how it gets modified and expanded as the years go by, how this is communicated in period maps and ads. Visual stuff mostly. Plus the pavilion logo.

So I’ll have a minor part at least in the 80s period (the EPCOT I best understand, before it got muddled).

I knew you’d get the reference 😍

Perfect. I’m really interested in the design as well, EPCOT architecture is like my kink 😂😂

But I’ll happily let you take the lead on that. You’re familiar enough with EPCOT Center that I more than trust you with it.

I feel like getting started on the outline like,...right now honestly. I’ve got my playlist on my tv and I’m feeling inspired.

Would it be against the spirit of the game to have separate PMs for the different aspects of the design process?? The only reason I would like to do that is so it’s easier to stay organized. But if that’s out of bounds I understand, we’re all just gonna have to get really comfortable with sorting through the main thread.

One other note as our resident EPCOT historian lol. Each FW pavilion ties in the human element pretty strongly. Basically, how people relate to or interact with the topic. (And in some cases, human interaction is the actual topic itself).

So perhaps an exhibit on earthquake safety would be a good thing to include. We could also discuss the new systems being implemented to help predict geologic activity. Can definitely go into rocks and minerals and all the ways we use those daily. Lots to explore beyond the surface.

.....Beyond the Surface????
Love this!

Put me on team 90s, it's the era of epcot I'm most familar with plus the one I like the most
