So, we have until Firday. This is monday night now. Which means we have 4 full days left. Here's how I see it hopefully going.

The rest of tonight and tomorrow will be about throwing out ideas and developing the concept of the attraction.
Then tomorrow evening we start picking roles.
That gives us Wed and Thurs to work on our parts.
Then friday can be about finishing up, editing, and presentation.

Any ideas for presentation? Slides usually work best for Dark rides, but we just did slides last time. We could do a video if we get it done early enough and have enough art/reference photos. Maybe even splice clips from the cartoon in. We'd have to do the writing early and have a lot of visuals if we do that though.

Anyone good at doing voices and/or want to try drawing the cartoony art style?

Beginning of day Recap!

Animaniacs!

Replacing Animal Actors or the Special Effects Stage at Universal Hollywood (They are basically next to each other, roughly the same size, and both seem pretty equally expendable).

Possible plot: Some snooty director is trying to make a dumb kids movie. Maybe a Baloney movie (Baloney is their Barnie parody and is usually their go to example of dumb kids show that talks down to their audience). So, the Animaniacs cause some havoc and create some chaos for the stuffy director who looks down on kids. Eventually breaking into some other sets on the backlot.

Ride type: Nothing set in stone. Current idea seems to be a mostly traditional dark ride with spinning. Screens/projections can be used for some effects such as having us drop/crash down to the backlot on the Lower Lot of USH. Possibly something sort of like Journey into Imagination where it can stop and start for a couple of longer show scenes?

There could be a scene like:
Baloney: "We can't have anything too crazy in the movie! You might scare the kids!"
Yakko: "Scare the kids? That's a great idea!"
Then a light gets knocked over and The Warners jump out. Maybe dressed as a vampire or something. It's a loose idea, but I had that idea for a line

Crashing from the Upper lot where the ride is located down to the soundstages on the Lower Lot through the use of screens/projections

I think it could be really fun if one of the sets the crash through was for the filming of a live action remake of Shrek. Poke some fun at the mouse house.

And maybe a room that is wall to wall green screens, but the green is just from projection mapping, so it can then transform to a bunch of crazy places and effects surrounding us while Wakko is off in the control room. Like, we enter the mostly entirely green room, Baloney or the stuffy director or whatever is standing there (but is actually projected on the wall). Wakko starts pulling levers and suddenly the director and/or Baloney is dodging meteors in deep space or arrows from Robin Hood and all kinds of weird crazy stuff. The projection mapping surrounding us would be a show stopping effect and it could give us some very solid old school slap stick opportunities.

Yakko (Talking to director during a pre-show or something): "We haven't really spent much time outside the water tower since the late 90s, is Bill Clinton still president?"
Dot: "I hope so, him and Monika made such a cute couple!"

Dot: "Level with me, Mr. Director Guy. Has Jared Letto become crazy stunning or stunningly crazy? Cuz I had a feeling it could go either way."

Today's Goals!
  1. Figure out our ride system and get solid idea for the story and some gags we wanna do!
  2. Start working on figuring out some roles! This would be a great round to incorporate some special talents people might have like drawing cartoon art styles, video making, song writing, playing music, etc! Or we could just keep this mostly standard.
  3. Figure out the presentation style we wanna go with!

I LIVE (which is the Olaf GIF I was trying to find in the first place...)

Seriously though, sorry for going MIA. We had the project due Friday which I am so proud of everyone's work for it, which was also my first day back at work in nearly 3 months... and it has not gone well. I hate the general public and my own coworkers blatant lack of following the "new normal" in the middle of everything going on and haven't really been feeling super safe and secure so I have been either at work or hiding under my blankets trying to sleep away reality. Plus for some reason I wasn't getting any sort of site notifications, either for the thread or being tagged specifically. But I am back, I live, I don't have work for at least 3 days (fingers crossed for more than that if things work out right) and I am on board for Animaniacs.

I am not particularily good at joke writing so I feel I will probably be most help for intro/conclusion stuff but I will see what awake brain pix has to say about it.

I did have an idea that feeds into the Animaniacs brand of crazy though, I don't know how realistic it is, but a trackless dark ride with a handful of different plot points that way instead of a linear storyline (although I do like the ideas Pi has started with) it would be a bounce around crazyness similar to how the episodes are set up with multiple shorts instead of one long episode. And it adds re-ride-abilty to get all the rooms (each ride would go through 4ish rooms but there would be maybe 10ish total?) AND one of the rooms could be a gag of the ride interrupting a bath/shower from one of them and then getting yelled at.

OR if we stick with what Pi has so far I really think one of the transition "doors?" should just be the circle the shows logo is in with the words 4th wall, so when we enter that room we literally break through the 4th wall.

Loving everyone's ideas for this ride! 😍

If we are going with a backlot, what if they are in golf carts? They see them all through the backlot tour so then they can get in their own one!
There is this animation cell I found on Google that shows a vehicle already present inside the Animaniacs' water tower. Maybe this could even be the cheeky reference we could use to poke fun at the House of Mouse (specifically Runaway Railway).

Anyway, if we're aiming for high capacity and everyone being "locked in" (per Universal standards), why not theme the ride vehicle to a tram and use a trackless ride system (as suggested by @gam3rprincess here)? That way, we can make the ride a little more chaotic (which would be a feat considering the general size of those things).

I love the ideas of a trackless tram ride and having the random rooms! My only concern is that both of those might feel a bit too big scale. One of the few guidelines we have is to make sure it isn't an E-Ticket. BUT if you guys think we can do those and still stay in that C/D range than I'm good with that because both are really fun!

I’m all for a video presentation. Also, I’d be happy to contribute some art/backdrops

I think only a few rooms (3-4 random ones) instead of 10 helps keep it down. I’d argue (May be the only one) that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a high D-ticket and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters is a C-ticket (best C-ticket in the world) so trackless doesn’t necessarily guarantee E-ticket

That is an excellent point! As long as we don't go tooooo over the top with fancy new effects, the trackless vehicles and random rooms are doable!

AND one of the rooms could be a gag of the ride interrupting a bath/shower from one of them and then getting yelled at.

This does raise the question of whether it is funnier for it to be a celebrity (and if so which one) or one of the Warners getting caught in a bubble bath with way too many bubbles and rubber duckies.

If it is a celebrity, I'm picturing Morgan Freeman.

Morgan Freeman, calmly: "If you don't mind, this restroom is currently occupied."
Wakko: But this is a potty emergency!

Morgan Freeman is solid! The Rock could also make sense as he’s everywhere right now (and is fairly familiar with working with Universal)

I don't know if it makes more sense in the queue or the ride but one thing I would love to implement is edutainment. This is something the Animaniacs did amazingly through songs:

There a ton more but these are super memorable to me (still so they clearly worked)

Yes!

Maybe the queue could be a "History of Cinema" museum so it can be pure edutainment with possibly even a few songs or skits worked into it while still fitting the studio/film set theme!

I love that idea! Did we decide on which park? I can look into the size we have based on comparable D-tickets (fantasyland dark rides) so we can build out the idea of space for facade/ queue/ attraction!

Alright, so taking what we have so far, here is how I see a rough outline

Queue: I'm picturing a pretty basic queue. Maybe a short museum on the history of cinema to incorporate the edutainment side of the show.

Pre-Show video: The snooty director is introducing his concept for a new Baloney movie that is dumb and talks down to kids. The Warners show up and say the studio sent them, "Don't mind us, just act like we aren't even here!" "You won't even notice us. Promise!"

Act 1: Explore the set for Baloney the movie and have some gags of the Warners messing with the director and Baloney. They are adding chaos and fun to a relatively grounded studio/world. It ends with the scene crashing down to the Lower Lot (using projectors/screens to help with it)

Act 2: The crash down from the upper lot to the lower lot transitions us from a mostly grounded world to a more over the top world that serves as a parody of Universal and a Movie Studio with Animaniacs style wit. This particular section is more focused on the wacky world than on the Animaniacs themselves. This would be where we have the multiple doors and randomized rooms would come in as we explore the studio. It could end with a green screen room where the animaniacs run into the director, but Wakko controls the special effects creating some old school slapstick. That causes the director to give up and say something like "Fine! Why don't you just make the movie yourself!" To which Yakko can respond with something like "We thought you'd never ask!"

Walking in on Morgan Freeman or Dwayne Johnson taking bubble bath.

Crashing through the set for a live action remake of Shrek (starring Brad Pitt?)

Maybe something with Bill Clinton or Jared Leto as a call back to the pre-show if we use either of those gags

Act 3: The zanny world and the zanny Animaniacs come together for a grand finale. The Warners film their own crazy movie in a sequence that is pure chaos and fun full of Animaniacs side characters and references. Just a big goofball party

How does this sound as a basic outline?
One of our main critiques from the first round was feeling a bit disjointed and like each section was too different. We still won, so it wasn't too big of a problem lol. But I figured getting more of an outline set up might help us. Especially if we want to go heavier on the art and maybe do a video.
