I have two concerns with Gummi Bears:
1. The IP. I’m not super knowledgeable with the IP myself and I don’t know how the rest of you are about it. If I’m the only one, I can do presentation/ intro/ ride vehicle sort of stuff where IP knowledge isn’t as critical

2. The space. The attraction was put together weakly where it was because there wasn’t a ton of space elsewhere. The monorail/ PeopleMover tracks aren’t that high above them and they are encased by the Matterhorn, Autopia, submarine lagoon (albeit empty), and fantasyland walkway. There isn’t a ton of space to open that up to a bigger attraction in my opinion.

If both of these concerns can be alleviated in some sense, I’m all for it! I also think an Anomaniacs attraction (Warner Brothers Park?) could be a lot of fun to do as well!
The IP, if I remember correctly, is pretty general fantasy. Like Smurfs mixed with King Arthur. I'd need a refresher course, but it is luckily a pretty simple concept. But a lack of familiarity for the IP is a concern of mine as well. @Pufflefan are you familiar with gummi Bears? We'd need at least one or two people with more than a dated familiarity lol. Of course, none of us really knew much about Mad MAx and that turned out pretty good.

As far as space goes, it is more limited then I realized, especially with the Monorail. BUT it does have roughly the same space as Navi River Journey, Storybookland Canal, and the Peter Pan/Toad/Alice building if we cut into the parade viewing area a bit and use the little bypass path as parade viewing instead. If we doubled up with a second level on the West side of the Monorail track that could give us more space. Still limited, but plenty for a C or small D ticket.

That is an interesting way to go about it.

Another way would be connecting it to the Submarine Lagoon. Gummi Glen closed in 1993, Submarine Voyage closed in 1998. Those 5 years could be used to plan a massive "plussing" to the attraction.

While the water has been removed from most of the area now, they were at one point connected

(I love everything about this picture so much)

But that gives us a TON of space to work with!

I’m not the biggest View attachment 475069 fan in the world, but I‘m probably the one who’s most familiar with it here. Also, I’m starting to consider Animaniacs more as I’m super familiar with that
I think there is enough space to make Gummi Bear viable. Though Animaniacs is a lot more familiar.

I think it will probably come down to a good old fashioned vote unless anyone wants to make an impassioned plea or Pix comes in here with something mind blowing lol.

I'm not that familiar with both Animaniacs and Gummi Bears, but I'm fine with whatever we end up going. I'd have to take a crash course about our selected IP anyway.
I'm not sure about access for you but here in the states, Animaniacs would be on Hulu and Gummi Bears is on Disney+. If not, I'm sure there's segments or explanations of the two on YouTube.

@Pi on my Cake with still no word from @gam3rprincess I think we should vote. The project is due Friday and we still haven’t hit an agreement on IP/ park
I agree. And with you and Puffs voting for Animaniacs, Monty abstaining, and Pix not being online...

I'm gonna say Animaniacs too. As much as I love the alternate timeline angle of Gummi, Animaniacs will just be more fun to work on.

So, that is 3 out of 5 votes in favor of Animaniacs. 3 out of 4 really since I don't think Monty was planning on voting.

You know what that means....

It's time for Animaniacs!

Which park do we go with? We could pull off Universal since they have previous work with WB properties. We could also go way out there and do a WB Movie World Park...

Personally I would prefer Universal just from familiarity and it would fit its tone. But the characters are the Warner Brothers and live in the WB water tower. I kinda feel like it has to go in a WB park. Or at least not a different studios park. But I could see it working really well as a Shrek 4D replacement.

Animaniacs Primer

The two Warner Brothers and the Warner Sister were stuck inside the water tower on the studio lot. They were locked away for being tooooo crazy and chaotic. But they got out and can wreak some goofy havoc once again!

The show is built of shorts rather than full 22 minute episodes. They range from life on the studio lot including dealing with the security guard and their crazy psychiatrist, to edutainment, to movie parodies, to just random cartoon shenanigans.

There are also shorts with other characters. The most famous by far in Pinky & the Brain, which even had its own spin off show based on the recurring shorts.

The most basic and recurring theme for Animaniacs is them giving comedic karma to someone being a jerk or being super pretentious.

I'll share a few of my favorite shorts later when I have some time.

Warner Brothers Gold Coast has a Kids Zone themed to Looney Tunes. It could fit there but kind of also feels forced.

It could fit in Universal Studios Hollywood as either a replacement to the Animal Actors show, Water World (although I love that show), or potentially a minor lower lot expansion.

It could also work as an expansion in USF over Barney but I feel that’s the obvious choice.

Right, time to begin my Animaniacs crash course then!

I'm agreeing with @AceAstro's suggestion to place the ride in Universal. Universal in general does need a good traditional D-ticket attraction catered to kids, which any of the Warner Bros. theme parks (to the best of my knowledge) already have.

If we're placing it in USH, we can either go for replacing the Animal Actors show (as Ace suggested) or even the Special Effects Stage (which judging from satellite images from Google Maps, occupies a larger footprint than AAS). It also helps that particular section of the Upper Lot is cartoon-heavy (the Simpsons and Despicable Me areas are nearby), so I think it could fit in nicely. That being said, the Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone in USF does need some new rides for kids, since it only has the E.T. ride and the Woody Woodpecker coaster.

Creating a loose Toon Studio section in USH could be pretty great!

As far as a story, I'm think we have it be that some snooty director is trying to make a dumb kids movie. Maybe a Baloney movie (Baloney is their Barnie parody and is usually their go to example of dumb kids show that talks down to their audience). So, the Animaniacs cause some havoc and create some chaos for the stuffy director who looks down on kids. Eventually breaking into some other sets on the backlot.

There could be a scene like:
Baloney: "We can't have anything too crazy in the movie! You might scare the kids!"
Yakko: "Scare the kids? That's a great idea!"
Then A light gets knocked over and The Warners jump out. Maybe dressed as a vampire or something. It's a loose idea, but I had that idea for a line lol

I love that idea! We can implement screens to a traditional dark ride as well to make it feel that they really crashed into the studio backlot below them!

I think it could be really fun if one of the sets the crash through was for the filming of a live action remake of Shrek. Poke some fun at the mouse house.

And maybe a room that is wall to wall green screens, but the green is just from projection mapping, so it can then transform to a bunch of crazy places and effects surrounding us while Wakko is off in the control room. Like, we enter the mostly entirely green room, Baloney or the stuffy director or whatever is standing there (but is actually projected on the wall). Wakko starts pulling levers and suddenly the director and/or Baloney is dodging meteors in deep space or arrows from Robin Hood and all kinds of weird crazy stuff. The projection mapping surrounding us would be a show stopping effect and it could give us some very solid old school slap stick opportunities.

As far as ride system goes, I'm picturing something like the Cat in the Hat dark ride, more or less a traditional bus bar but with a lot of spinning. But maybe expand it a bit, get the car moving a bit faster to increase the high energy feel. Blend some screens with traditional effects like you said. It could be pretty great!

With the Animaniacs, I'm picturing it as very gag focused. So, any jokes anyone can come up with or shenanigans that would be fun to include, go for it! Shout it out! No Bad ideas! The format of the loose story we have so far and the IP gives us a lot of freedom to build what we are doing around whatever fun moments we come up with rather than having to worry about a complex plot or recreating iconic scenes!

The show did a great job blending smartly written, snappy dialogue (often with a dry wit), old school over the top slap stick, well executed potty humor, and surrealistic humor. Often all at the same time. A big part of what made it SO GOOD is that the humor was really well written and smart, especially compared to the often dumb kids shows of the late 80s and early 90s. It was a breath of fresh air the same way Phineas and Ferb and Adventure Time were for the modern era.
