I love all the ideas we have come up!
Following your brilliant guideline we should figure out roles. Any preference Pi?
I'm having a lot of fun with this and could help out whereever is needed.

The way I see it, we have

  • Intro
  • Location in the Park
  • Facade
  • Queue
  • Pre-Show
  • Ride System/Ride Vehicle
  • Ridethrough Act1
  • Ridethrough Act 2
  • Ridethrough Act 3
  • Wrap up
Then we need as much art as we can get and hopefully a video presentation.

I'm pretty decent at Windows Movie Maker, if we can get at least half the writing done by Thrusday night and the rest done early on Friday I should be able to handle making the video unless someone else wants to. I'll gladly help with writing wherever it is needed.

I know @Pufflefan is focusing on art.

If we do a video, we don't need the writing to be super heavy and detailed. One or two people could do most of the writing with the rest focused on art.

What did you picture the video would show/ entail? Just so we can go off of that.

I was picturing sort of a slideshow. Text could be over slips from old shorts mixed with our art and reference photos.

Sorta like this one we did for a Bendy Horror Nights maze back in SA5, but hopefully we'd be able to do it for the whole ridethrough

I'm definitely open to other ideas or even cutting the video idea. If anyone has a different pitch

Looks like we've got a solid plan, Pi! My only worry is that the art production might cost us valuable time since we only have 3 days left before the deadline and @Pi on my Cake has to create a video after we've submitted our sections. Maybe we should have a back-up plan in case our original plan doesn't pan out, like a trailer (similar to the Bendy HHN maze one) and a lengthy post? Nothing's wrong with a Google Doc/lengthy post anyway, as our hosts said!

Anyway, I can do some of the writing needed and probably some artwork as well.

@Pufflefan any ideas for gags or scenes? Or just stuff you think would be fun to draw? Celebrities you want to make fun off that also won't become dated to joke about within the next 2 years (Why did the 3 Stooges movie have an entire sequence on the Jersey Shore TV Show? Who thought that would stay relevant for longer than a week and a half?)
Nah, I’m not at all a comedian & i’m happy to draw whatever everyone comes up with

I can write up the location in the park pretty fast here since I looking into the size. How else do we want to divide it up? I know @gam3rprincess said they weren’t super familiar with the IP so would prefer to do the intro. @montydysquith-navarro any thoughts on what you want to write?

Maybe @gam3rprincess can take up the wrap-up as well, so that our workload is evenly distributed per person (2 sections each)?

For now, I can take the queue and ride system/ride vehicle sections, since those are kind of set in stone already. I do have apprehensions about the "history of cinema" suggestion for the former since it would be similar to Disneyland's queue for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. I believe the queue for that attraction is described as "an exhibit from the Toontown Hysterical Society, where they show movie props" or something similar. I'll try to come up with something else.

That is an excellent point. We can compile everything in a Doc as something easy to do as a back up for if the video doesn't work. Putting stuff into a Google Doc takes like 10-15 minutes. Easy to do. Plus, having that back up will be good for anyone reading along who can't watch the video.

For you guys less familiar with the IP, the show always had a lot of pop culture and hollywood in jokes. You can write from that angle too. Watch a few shorts on YouTube to get a feel for the characters and then slap them into stuff like that. If ya want. I'm happy to help however I can with writing.

Sounds good! If you can keep us updated with what scenes you are drawing that would be a big help. If we do wind up with 2 or 3 people working on art we don't want all three of them to draw Dwayne Johnson in a bathtub while no one draws the Brad Pitt starring in the live action remake of Shrek lol

@gam3rprincess I know in the past you've liked doing art, did you want to try your hand at some cartoony drawing here too? Or focus more on writing?

I didn't know that about Disneyland's plan. I'm cool if you want to try to brainstorm something else. My only preference is to try to keep some kind of edutainment aspect since that was a key part of Animaniacs for some of their most iconic bits and something that is tougher to blend into the ride itself.

By the way, I found something about Disneyland's Runaway Railway queue. Look like I'm right about the Toontown Hysterical Society and the props, but I'm not sure if they're dealing with the history of film/cinema as well.

First off, that looks amazing!

Second off, I get the impression that is more of a prop display museum than a history of film exhibit. I think we would be safe. But I trust you guys' judgement.

Beginning of day Recap!

Animaniacs!

Replacing Animal Actors at Universal Hollywood

Plot: Some snooty director is trying to make a dumb kids movie. Maybe a Baloney movie (Baloney is their Barnie parody and is usually their go to example of dumb kids show that talks down to their audience). So, the Animaniacs cause some havoc and create some chaos for the stuffy director who looks down on kids. Eventually breaking into some other sets on the backlot!

Ride type: Trackless Dark Ride using studio golf carts as the ride vehicles. Screens/projections can be used for some effects such as having us drop/crash down to the backlot on the Lower Lot of USH.

Basic Outline

Queue: A short museum on the history of cinema or something else that will incorporate the edutainment side of the show. The queue starts with going upstairs and then is spread out above the ride itself. It leads to an elevator down to the first level to board the ride #ElevatorTradition

Pre-Show video (Possibly in the elevator): The snooty director is introducing his concept for a new Baloney movie that is dumb and talks down to kids. The Warners show up and say the studio sent them, "Don't mind us, just act like we aren't even here!" "You won't even notice us. Promise!"

Yakko (Talking to director during a pre-show or something): "We haven't really spent much time outside the water tower since the late 90s, is Bill Clinton still president?"
Dot: "I hope so, him and Monika made such a cute couple!"

Dot: "Level with me, Mr. Director Guy. Has Jared Letto become crazy stunning or stunningly crazy? Cuz I had a feeling it could go either way."

Just before the safety video starts:
Dot pops in: “Don’t worry! This will be shorter than Conan’s tenure as the Tonight Show host!”

Act 1: Explore the set for Baloney the movie and have some gags of the Warners messing with the director and Baloney. They are adding chaos and fun to a relatively grounded studio/world. It ends with them bursting out of the Baloney Movie soundstage and out to the rest of the studio

Baloney: "We can't have anything too crazy in the movie! You might scare the kids!"
Yakko: "Scare the kids? That's a great idea!"
Out comes any of the cats from CATS.
Wakko (looks at golf cart): “We wanted to scare, not traumatize!”

Act 2: The burst out of the Baloney set transitions us from a mostly grounded world to a more over the top world that serves as a parody of Universal and a Movie Studio with Animaniacs style wit. This particular section is more focused on the wacky world than on the Animaniacs themselves. This would be where we have the multiple doors and randomized rooms would come in as we explore the studio. It could end with a green screen room where the animaniacs run into the director, but Wakko controls the special effects creating some old school slapstick. That causes the director to give up and say something like "Fine! Why don't you just make the movie yourself!" To which Yakko can respond with something like "We thought you'd never ask!"

Walking in on Morgan Freeman or Dwayne Johnson taking bubble bath.

Crashing through the set for a live action remake of Shrek (starring Brad Pitt?)

Maybe something with Bill Clinton or Jared Leto as a call back to the pre-show if we use either of those gags

They could walk in on Arnold filming Terminator 53 using a walker made of shotguns
Terminator: "I'll be Back Back"
Dot: "Unfortunately"

A room that is wall to wall green screens, but the green is just from projection mapping, so it can then transform to a bunch of crazy places and effects surrounding us while Wakko is off in the control room. Like, we enter the mostly entirely green room, Baloney or the stuffy director or whatever is standing there (but is actually projected on the wall). Wakko starts pulling levers and suddenly the director and/or Baloney is dodging meteors in deep space or arrows from Robin Hood and all kinds of weird crazy stuff. The projection mapping surrounding us would be a show stopping effect and it could give us some very solid old school slap stick opportunities.

Act 3: The zanny world and the zanny Animaniacs come together for a grand finale. The Warners film their own crazy movie in a sequence that is pure chaos and fun full of Animaniacs side characters and references. Just a big goofball party

How does this sound as a basic outline?
One of our main critiques from the first round was feeling a bit disjointed and like each section was too different. So, Communication is gonna be key. Especially since we are attempting to do a more complex presentation method using a video (With a Google Doc back up in case we can't finish it and wind up with just a trailer)

Today's Goals!
  1. Claim all the roles! This round has plenty of opportunities to incorporate just about any talent people want to share! The actual writing can be light and less detailed given the nature of the ride type and the presentation.
  2. Start writing and drawing!

Is Act 1 going to move into more of the preshow shine we talked about the “drop” to the lower lot happening before the ride to allow for it to be 1 floor?
