Tangled Meet and Greet Rumor

This is so sad, I never got a chance to meet him unfortunately because of long lines. Now I regret not waiting. From the video though you can tell he was great and loved his job :(

Wow-that was so sad.
That was a CM that truly loved his job.

That was the same "friend" of Flynn that I met this past May... very sad indeed! He was very good at his job!

I also received this response...

Thank you for contacting us regarding the Flynn Rider appearances at
Magic Kingdom® Park.

At Walt Disney World® Resort, we continually evaluate our entertainment
offerings. As part of that effort, we have decided to adjust the
Tangled experience and will focus on Rapunzel, who has become a Guest
favorite since she first came to Magic Kingdom® Park last year. At this
time, we plan for Flynn Rider to join Rapunzel for Mickey's Not-so-Scary
Halloween and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas parties.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and
appreciate you sharing your feedback with us.

Regards,

Jason Ford

So everyone got the same letter back! :brick: They said they would appreciate me sharing my feedback with them... well, I intend to do that!

Has anyone else responded back after they received an email?

Although Flynn leaving is sad...I will say that the new system with just Rapunzel has greatly reduced the wait times. We walked by around 5 PM on Saturday and were able to get in line in the garden immediately. It took about 20 minutes to meet Rapunzel.

So even though Flynn is gone I'm sure most people would appreciate the much-reduced wait times. The lines were usually around two hours before the switch. :)

I would imagine the reduced wait time is more due to the fact that they took out the play in the "play and greet"! I don't think having two characters there would increase the wait time that much!?!

Isn't it a really bad thing to have waits cut down that much for Disney? My guess is that they want guests to stay as long in the park as possible so that they will continue to by food and stuff.

Near the end of Flynn's departure he and Rapunzel were not even doing the "play and greet". The children would dance before the characters even came out. I think the reduced wait time has to do with Rapunzel only having 5 minute breaks in-between sets now. And you also have to remember with Flynn there that is two autograph books to sign, two characters to talk to (and they always had playful banter with each other...which is cute but takes up time), some people would want a picture with *just Flynn* and *just Rapunzel*. All of this adds up.

Do I wish Flynn was still there? Yes...but after simply walking up and being able to meet Rapunzel in 20 minutes (which could only happen before if you ran there as soon as the park opened) I can see why they did this as well.

Guests now have more time to visit other attractions and buy food and merchandise because they are no longer spending that time waiting for a meet and greet.

I don't care if the line is shorter and I don't appreciate one of the movie's main characters being removed. I (and many others) don't want to meet just Rapunzel.

I don't doubt two characters would have slower moving lines than a single character but the big reduction in wait time is still due to the fact they took out the "play time". As you said, Repunzel only has 5 minute breaks between sets now so that is where the big difference is. They could still have removed the "play time" and just put the both of them out for meet & greet. I would gladly wait 30 mins instead of 20 mins if it meant seeing both of them. And if they're that freakin' popular and Disney is concerned with the amount of time that guests are spending in a queue (instead of eating and shopping) why don't they move them to the Town Square Theatre and stick them in one of the rooms for the Princesses and offer FastPass!?!

Ok sorry to bring this thread back up and to be beating a dead horse but...why is Prince Eric still available to meet with Ariel but they take away Flynn Rider??? Also they are testing running the daytime parade twice a day and can afford to run that twice, but they can't afford Flynn Rider...just saying.

I still think that ending the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party would be a better way to cut the budget, so they can fund more meet-and-greet characters, including Flynn.

I like the Street Party, but it has already run its course and served its purpose, since the Celebrate Today campaign already ended almost 7 months ago.

I don't think removing MiSiCi should be the answer to bringing back a character (I happen to like it a lot).

Still, MiSiCi has run its course and served its purpose. The Celebrate Today campaign is long over. DL's version, Celebrate A Street Party, ended when the campaign did, so WDW's needs to follow suit.

On the same token, the Year of a Million Dreams offerings (Main Street Family Fun Day Parade, Woody's Cowboy Camp, etc.) ended when the YoMD campaign did, so why should this be different?

I like the Street Party too, but eliminating MiSiCi won't be too much of a total loss while MK is under budget constraints and a lack of friends for characters.

And if cutting MiSiCi means getting a wider variety of characters into the park for meet-and-greets, then they should go for it.

I'm not being a killjoy. I'm just trying to be a voice of reason.

I would rather have a fun interactive entertainment offering almost everyone can enjoy than more meet and greets. Even though the Celebrate Today campaign has ended I think MiSiCi can stand on it's own without the campaign. I think WDW is still embracing the Celebrate idea more so having MiSiCi is fitting and it doesn't seem to out of place really. I'd rather have it than a few more meet and greets. Also if they got rid of it it would mainly be a budget cut because I doubt the roughly 48 cast members would all be redistributed to do meet and greets...just a wild guess maybe about 10 at the most but then it'd just be another budget cut.

I would MUCH rather have MiSiCi than any meet and greet honestly. I know the Celebrate Today campaign technically ended but Disney is still very much about the "What are you celebrating" by still offering the buttons, etc. I absolutely LOVE the MiSiCi concept and now that BPB is gone, it's the only kind of parade like that left.

Are you saying that you don't want the chances of seeing more rarely-seen characters in the parks to increase?! That's very heartless.

I highly doubt that. I think they would spread them out to meet-and-greet characters, diverting their money elsewhere. Besides, with all the new character meet-and-greet opportunities to being to MK with the addition of the Town Square Theater and the Fantasyland expansion, diverting the budgets into those would be the smart thing to do.

And if they won't hire more performers, then they'll have to make use of what they have. And cutting MiSiCi is the only decent option.

If I had to choose between that and offering more meet-and-greets with rarely-seen characters, I'd choose the latter.

We always need more variety in regards to the characters guests can meet in the parks.

Hands down.

It's funny because M&G's are one of those knee-jerk "OH NOES!" reaction getters, but people don't understand the nuance.

A M&G that they shoehorn onto a little platform with the line in the middle of a walkway in the park that has people standing where people weren't meant to stand - yeah, that's bad.

A really-well-themed area meant specifically for such a purpose, with relevant theme (i.e. Belle in the Cottage, etc.)? That's a whole different Beast (pun intended). It's great - it contributes to the overall theming of the park, as well as keeps the little buggers in line out of the middle of walkways and other inappropriate areas they line'em up at.

I'm sorry are you calling me heartlesss because I would rather watch a fun interactive show than have a few more meet and greets? I'm all for having rare characters out and about but not at the expense of another entertainment offering. Also there really won't be too many new meet and greets. Town Square Theater is the exact same set up and number of performers as the former Princess meet and greet and the Judge's tent in Toontown. Then the princess will move to their new home, Belle will go to her village, and Ariel will move from Adventureland to her new Grotto. Not 48 performers exactly. If MiSiCi isn't your cup of tea that's fine but don't call me heartless because I'd rather keep that than have it cut for a few more meet and greets.
