T-Rex to replace Rainforest Cafe??

As Bfbulldog said, Landry's owns both Rainforest and T-Rex. They also own Yak and Yeti. I do not see them closing Rainforest. If anything, it will help because Rainforest often has ridiculous wait times.

Landrys needs to STEP UP! Rainforest use to have great food....over the last, I'm going to say 3-4 years the food has become TERRIBLE! After last years meal, I will never go there again, the food was disgraceful.

I'm hating the fact that I'm going to go to T-Rex....my son is a huge Dino fan and he is very excited about this restaurant, so I will grin and bear it for him, the food is dreadful and I'm not particularly picky.

If anything it should help bring in extra profits for Landry's. T-Rex should help to offset the wait at Rainforest since the two are similar, but yet different. Since the wait will be less, more people will wait and balance the lesser wait. Thus earning them more money. Clear as mud I'm sure. Just think of how many people walk up to Rainforest, see a 2 hr wait, and then decide to go grab a sandwich or eat elsewhere. Well if rainforest then drops down to a 1 hr wait, more people will wait. Balancing the decreased wait by adding more people who wouldn't wait in the first place. Or something like that.

I'm sure Landry's spent a fair amount of money doing a survey to show that it works out in their favor.

Coming from someone who lives in KC and can experience both Rainforest and T-Rex (and has!), the food at T-Rex was better IMHO.

To hijack the thread slightly, does anybody know if this T-Rex is going to have a build a dino in it like the one in KCK does?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if the Rainforest Cafe closed at all. The food is mediocre at best and the prices leave a lot to be desired. We rarely eat at DTD, but a new place may be worth a try.

And we ate at Chef Mickey's in DTD in 1992 so, yeah, it wasn't always at the Contemporary.

No the Rainforest Cafe wouldn't be replaced, it is just way too popular. They are always busy & you need a variety of places to eat in Downtown Disney with the size that it is.

i've heard from a lot of people that once the new T-Rex restaurant is up, they will get rid of the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney, and it sorta makes sense considering they seem like the same type of restaurant, well tell me what yall think

Disney wouldn't shut down the Rainforest Cafe at DD as it is one of the most popular and most accesible restaraunts on property. The Rainforest at AK is not so accessable after the park closes, as the buses only run for about an hour after park closing. I don't even know how late that location stays open because of this reason.

It's another themed dining location that will fit in nicely in DD.

I don't see it going anywhere. Everytime we've gone to either one its been a wait unless its just me going to the bar but, thats crowded a lot too.

Wow that's strange no one else has mentioned it if so many people are saying it. Can you fill us in on who they are? Disney people? Rainforest staff? If you have heard it from so many people there must be some truth in it. Are we talking 10,50,100 people that have told you? ;)
I imagine being 15 and living in Tennessee you must have your finger on the pulse of what's going on down ay the Rainforest Cafe.

Where are you guys getting "It's one of the most popular restaurants at WDW" from? What figures are you looking at?
It's Landry's busiest location in the US, and the 3 Disney locations (DTD WDW, AK, and DTD DLR) generate over 80 million in revenue so take your guess as to what percentage of that is for DTD WDW.

I highly doubt this happening, especially since the Rainforest Cafe is attached to a huge gift shop. Does anybody know if T-Rex will include a shop, similar to Rainforest Cafe? :)

someone mentioned TREX having "good" food? highly doubt it. i worked for RFC for about a year a half and looked at TREX's menu. it's the same food. from the same suplier. the food'll be mediocre at best.

From what I read from the DVC magazine it's gonna be a HUGE place. And yes there will be a gift shop.
