Here's the adapted backstory and guest experience for Taethadis' Treasures, one of the retail experiences in the Rivendell subland. I've decided to retain several aspects of Sanir's shop but I changed it up to be more relatable to the Elves than the Dwarves.
Shop Backstory
Taethadis and her father Silevion are said to descend from the original line of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. Their talents in spinning treasures into priceless jewelry is unsurpassed, and were often tapped when gifts and offerings are needed to any party visiting Rivendell.
Taethadis has decided to open the family collection of jewels to curious visitors, as well as exhibiting her’s and Silevion’s latest creations. Silevion has urged his daughter to take on new jewel-smith apprentices to ensure that the family trade will not end with their deaths. This where you, the guest, come in. Under their watchful eyes, you will be able to fashion existing treasures into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Guest Experience (It's the same thing with the Sanir shop, but some details have changed)
Guests will be given a scroll depicting the types of jewelry they can make: a necklace, a brooch, or a ring. As soon as they make their selection, they will be escorted into the workshop. Two live-actors playing Taethadis and Silevion will be going around the room, assisting their potential apprentices in the creation of the jewelry pieces. From time to time, one of them will retire to their own workstation, working on their newest creation [1]
Upon arriving on their workstation, guests will be instructed by the shop assistant to personally select which findings and components (gold, silver, or bronze setting, gems, etc.) they want for their custom jewelry through a “scroll” (cleverly-disguised touch screen embedded on the table). Upon confirmation of their selection, a toy Elven longboat (as depicted in this painting) [2] will arrive at their workstation carrying their selection (similar to those conveyor-belt restaurants found in Japan). The shop assistant will guide them through the creation/setting of their custom pieces. After the guests are satisfied with their work, they will be given a special jewelry box lined in dark blue velvet fabric where they can place their masterpieces until its next usage.
Those who opt to create rings will be given a slightly different experience. The workstations for this type of jewelry will up against the wall of the workshop, where they can see several other Elven-smiths forging metals into rings and smithing them (by way of 2 1/2-D projections) [3]. Same as the other jewelry-making experiences, they will be given a “scroll” where they can select which ring design they would like. They can choose a design similar to the Seven Dwarf-Rings or even the Three Rings. Guests can also customize their design by changing the gem setting and metal used (gold or silver). For safety’s sake, they won’t be able to forge the metal ring itself (we’ll leave that to the Elves), but they will still be able to set the jewels on it by themselves with the shop assistant guiding them.
[1] Changed from an AA figure to two live actors
[2] Changed from a mining cart to an Elven longboat
[3] Clarified what method will be used to portray the Elven smiths
Architectural Design (Interior)
The architecture of Rivendell lends itself to a very intricate and natural aesthetic. As such, the shop's architecture will continue these themes (Picture 2). The ceilings of the shop will be vaulted (Picture 6) and will be supported by stone arches (Picture 1) embedded with a knotted design. Likewise, black metal chandeliers will hang from the ceilings. The colored stone walls (Picture 7) will have windows with intricate twisted vinework detail (Pictures 3 and 8) that will show guests a breathtaking view of Rivendell. Additional metal/wooden arches (with the same twisted vine detail) will accentuate several parts of the shop (Picture 4) and shop displays (Picture 5).
