Welp...if you needed any more evidence that the Walt Disney Company isn't Walt Disney's company anymore....

This is sick beyond belief.

What he tweeted was much worse than Roseanne, but will she be rehired? Hah, don't hold your breath. (And I'm not talking politics here, I'm talking about hypocrisy. But you can bet that the reason the Robert Iger Company won't rehire her is based on politics! ) And PUH-LEEZE don't say "oh, he apologized", "oh, they were just JOKES"...anyone who would come up with such horrific garbage in the first place in an attempt to be "funny" or "edgy" is a sick low horrible person.

But oh boy the Guardian fanboys are rejoicing! Because Guardians fanboys are so convinced that ONLY James Gunn could successfully write and direct a movie about a trigger-happy raccoon (hey, how about that Mosque shooting in New Zealand!) and a talking asparagus stalk that you're all cheering about this money-motivated lapse of moral judgement.

It is truly sad the priorities some people have in relation to entertainment. What lives they must lead, if they have lives, which isn't likely.

God, I hate you, Robert Iger. You are scum.
This is hilarious.

Yeah, sure. But somehow you apparently don't find Gunn's "jokes" about pedophilia tasteless. Which he didn't delete either, by the way...

My point was that people who are so wrapped up in comic-book mythology that they defend Gunn's garbage as "jokes" have issues. People should be held responsible for what they do and say. And especially if they're employed by a company that is regarded by most as the ultimate "family-friendly" company on earth. Rehiring Gunn is a horrible decision, obviously based on money, and even that reason is stupid, because you can't tell me there aren't other directors out there who could the Guardians property justice. I mean come on, we're not talking "War and Peace" here. It's a second-tier comic starring third-rate characters, even by Marvel standards. What's the big deal?
You don’t have to put jokes in quotations. That’s what they were.

Very interesting part of this whole story.

“In the weeks after firing Gunn, there was speculation around town about who could replace the filmmaker, with agents lining up clients but by mid-fall, any perceived search seemed to have petered out, with many thinking that the project was on the back burner. What almost no one knew was that Marvel and Disney had never undertaken a search and had gone back to Gunn and made a deal ... in secret, according to insiders.”

Roseann's tweet was... recent, contemporary. That makes it pretty much an indicator of who she is and what she thinks and believes now.

Gunn's tweets were in the past. Long deleted and not at all repeated anywhere in the recent past. Gunn immediately apologized and blamed only himself and didn't attack Disney. Also, he has shown that he's not going to embarrass Disney again with such tweeting.

Roseann, however, has never stopped being the provateur and blaming her tweets on Ambien is a red flag for keeping her employed. When will the next Ambien-fueled tweet happen? 🤷‍♂️

Roseanne immediately apologized. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rosean...-tweet-about-valerie-jarrett-leaving-twitter/

She blamed her lousy judgement on herself and Ambien. Gunn blamed his on himself and a desire to get attention. What's the freaking difference? How do YOU know Roseanne might tweet something offensive again? I could say the same thing about Gunn. And those tweets of his, so I understand, were still up and weren't deleted until he got in trouble: https://www.thewrap.com/james-gunn-apologizes-offensive-old-tweets-rape-pedophilia/

Seriously, why the desire to defend that depraved nut? Did you know he also tweeted about beating his "midget" girlfriend because she wouldn't fit into a mini-fridge? https://www.dangerous.com/48296/rev...-girlfriend-for-not-fitting-into-mini-fridge/

HAHAHAHA! Hilarious! Boy is that guy woke!

Tweeting bad taste jokes doesn't make one a depraved nut.

And you ignored the time interval factor, rather conveniently, since there is no defense that what Roseann did was in the now. What Gunn did was in the past. Give Roseann a decade of not posting stuff like that and then we'll talk redemption.

To Mike Cernovich, the alt-right troll who posted the old tweets, who now has to live with the fact that his actions led to not just the rehiring of Gunn on GOTG3, but also his hiring by DC to write and direct a reboot of Suicide Squad:

Oh, really? Then what does make one a depraved nut? I'd bet that for most people, thinking pedophilia is a legit source for humor is just cause for depraved-nut certification. Not to mention making jokes about beating women and stuffing them into refrigerators. I think most people would never consider making jokes about such things, not even 10 years ago. The idea that somehow Gunn is a better person now is a bit of a stretch, mostly because of how gross and how prolific his "jokes" about such stuff were. Time doesn't lessen their depravity, so sorry to inform you of that. They're still awful and he's an awful person for thinking them funny in the first place. 10 years doesn't make much of a difference in his case.

As for Roseanne, I'm not defending her for making a dumb tweet. But, come on, compared to Gunn, she committed a relatively minor offense. Acting like she has to wait 10 years to be forgiven is absurd. If Disney doesn't rehire her after it rehired Gunn, it's going to look like the reason is purely political. And that's not a good look for Disney - and especially Iger - to have. (Let's see the fathead run for office now! LOL!)

Did you really just use an article written by the lying, crazy lunatic Milo to defend your point?

That’s the quickest way to know what side is the right side to be on.

I’m going to blow your mind on something: EVERYTHING is a valid source of humor. Literally, everything.

Whether it’s funny or not is a different story. Gunn’s objectively weren’t. But the Jim Jeffries and Anthony Jeselnik jokes on the same subjects were. But they’re stand up comedians and better at writing one liners and jokes/punchlines.

Okay, maybe you know a little more than me on this- is it a reboot or a sequel? Because they recast Deadshot, and there’s talk of no Harley.

Probably not the thread for this, but Suicide Squad went through all of those reshoots to make it feel a little more like Guardians, and I’m so curious to see what his take is on it, without it feeling like a Guardians rip off

What I’m hearing is that it’s a soft reboot, similar to what Jurassic Park did. Will Smith is being recast, and the rumor is that Gunn’s only choice to replace him is Idris Elba.

The story continuity will exist, but expect massive recasting (outside of Margot Robbie, I would assume).

If DC is smart, they let Gunn do his thing with the only 2 stipulations being 1) keep it PG13, and 2) Make enough room for a sequel.

So, everything he did with GOTG.

Did this Milo (whoever he is) guy get the facts wrong? Or is that important to you?
Yes, he did get the facts wrong. He assumed a fictional story was fact.

If you read the addendums in the link that is actually included in the fake news you provided, you’d know this. But you only accept information from your objectively terrible sources as fact.

These are the kind of people you put your faith in to give you the news, FYI. Rethink your choices.

Why would Gunn disqualify Iger from Office? I’m not discussing his ideology or his politics. But the current President has admitted to sexual assault on tape, and watching 15 year old girls change at his Teen USA pageants. Iger will be fine if he wants to go this route.

Gunn’s tweets were known about when he was hired for Vol. 1 and apologized for it over the years. There has been no indication of ANY misconduct on any of Gunn’s films, and everyone who has worked with Gunn fully supports him. Post firing there has been nothing uncovered to suggest those jokes were based on any sort of actions.

Roseanne had a long history of racist statements before the tweet that got her axed. Unlike Gunn who took full responsibility and kept quiet. Roseanne blamed it on ambien, and has continued her ways. There hasn’t been an indication of genuine remorse or change. I don’t know how you compare the two situations.

His politics aligns with her’s. There’s no other reason.

You ever watch Family Guy, which Disney now owns? It had a recurring character that was a child molester. No one is calling Seth MacFarlane depraved.
